chili_con_carne Posted 13 November 2011 Posted 13 November 2011 I reckon abe's days at the club could be numbered if Pearson is the new manager. What do you all think? Just don't see him fitting in at all. He's not as good as YouTube suggests really is he well he's not that bad but has never really done much. I expect Michael Johnson to be the first name on the team sheet now. Pearson likes his young creative centre mids on loan - Davies, cleverley, and the lad from Liverpool.

Get some sleep son.
The Doctor Posted 13 November 2011 Posted 13 November 2011 Really? He's fairly solid defensively, He puts in a lot of effort. He's Pearson's type of player.
Kitchandro Posted 13 November 2011 Posted 13 November 2011 I think it's a bit early to be suggesting players' days are numbered, he's not even been appointed yet.
BoneDog Posted 13 November 2011 Posted 13 November 2011 If Pearson sells Abe I'm going to make a placard saying "I'm norr'appy" or something.
Langston Posted 13 November 2011 Posted 13 November 2011 Surely he and his staff will judge each player individually on his appointment?
Fox92 Posted 13 November 2011 Posted 13 November 2011 I think he isn't too bad defensively. I think he is our best defensive-minded midfielder, and offers support for the midfield.
Libertine Dream Posted 13 November 2011 Posted 13 November 2011 Personally I think if he is played in the right position with correct instructions, he is very much like Spearing was and will flourish under Pearson. I believe he was the key part when we played Derby as it allowed everybody else to attack, safe in the knowledge yuki would mop up if the ball broke out. He then went off to Japan and shouldn't of played against Brum due to inevitable tiredness. If Johnson plays instead of him it will an awful decision.

Corky Posted 13 November 2011 Posted 13 November 2011 He seems to be shoved around a lot. As a central midfielder in a foreign league it's no surprise he looks lost at times on the right side of midfield.
Filbert The Fox Posted 13 November 2011 Posted 13 November 2011 I think it's a bit early to be suggesting players' days are numbered, he's not even been appointed yet. I totally agree. How can anyone say any players days are numbered when the new manager has'nt even met the current squad.Personally i rate Abe.Its the same as all these people saying Sol will be out.
frozenoak Posted 13 November 2011 Posted 13 November 2011 I think Yuki makes a fine defensive midfielder but i think a few good weight sessions to bulk him up a little would make him more solid for this position.

Corky Posted 13 November 2011 Posted 13 November 2011 Any central midfielder will look lost being out of position on the right. Oakley was pushed out there for a time and in some games he looked fine (though not too many). Yuki is playing in a totally different league and, I'm sure, a more physical and faster paced style of play to what he had before. It'll be harder for Abe to adapt and be effective.

I don't think I'm alone in thinking that Yuki has actually been fairly "effective" (at least as much as anybody - Oakley included) on the right side of a diamond, particularly in his exchanges with Peltier. They cover each other well. Yuki is actually capable of playing fast paced one touch football, and seems more willing than most of our other midfielders to try it. Its so frustrating that we seem to be so stuck between styles at the moment - never quite committing to the fast passing game, but not being direct enough either. I personally think Yuki is capable of both, but perhaps needs more explicit direction than others. Either way, as much as I wouldn't play him as a wide midfielder, he is able in that position.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 13 November 2011 Posted 13 November 2011 If Pearson sells Abe I'm going to make a placard saying "I'm norr'appy" or something. Pearson is not our manager!

Thracian Posted 13 November 2011 Posted 13 November 2011 If Abe came from East Cheam - or even Eyres Monsell, he'd never be in the side. Abe's a trier. But he just doesn't effect enough in any way. Bill Shankly had the right idea... he got people in different places who could all do certain things well and often better than others. Brian Clough was the same. And Don Revie. We don't do that. We just get players with what looks like a pedigree and put them into our side whether they compliment the team or not. Abe doesn't do badly, he just doesn't have enough impact. Yet our fans would always sooner have a international from Japan, Iran or BowleswithStan than someone with no pedigree who might just do the team some good. And that's part of the reason we're exactly where we are today. I don't apply this to Abe but some of the people who've worn our shirt in recent years have been an embarrassment and I don't mean just one or two, but lots of them. At times it's been so bad it's a wonder they didn't pick people out of the car park to have a game. Actually, with Cadamarteri, that's just about what happened from what we were told. Even now we have three or four people in our squad like Abe. Guys who are willing enough but don't excel. But what we need - and what we used to have long ago - is excellence in every position.

Tht why is there any need for thracian to write so much i honestly reckon tht i could write wat he rights in a paragraph. also most of the stuff you right is bollocks !!! We don't do that. Charl91 Posted 13 November 2011 Posted 13 November 2011 I found Thracian comments spot on, and at least his grammer is correct. Awkward! I do agree with Thracian for the most part, even if he is pretty dismissive of Abe, who I think is fairly good.
nuttytimmy Posted 13 November 2011 Posted 13 November 2011 For my part, I think Abe is the sort of understated player Pearson would like.
