After that, Australia at some point in my life and China, Japan and Germany. I'm a big fan of the touristy places and beaches :D

My girlfriend has Icelandic heritage and as such is trying to persuade me to go there. Looks an interesting place and she's managed to sell it to me, fairly keen. We've never quite found the time for a reasonabe, lengthy get-away, spent a few days/nights in Vancouver in spring last year though which we both loved.

Has anyone been to Iceland before? Opinions?

Yeah, went a few years back. Incredible, it is like no other place on earth. Lots to do, Iceland Air do some good packages including flights. Can be expensive though.

Blue lagoon - natural hot springs

Reykjavik city

Huge waterfalls

Volcano landscapes

Don't fly with Iceland express they're a shoddy outfit.

That's great, thanks - looks pretty nailed on I'll be heading there next summer.

She mentioned the Blue Lagoon, looks really cool. I'm not too sure where we'll be staying though, her family that were raised there lived in Hafnarfjordur (hope I've spelt that correctly) which isn't too far at all from Reykjavik as far as I'm aware. Could end up staying in a place there if meant saving a few pennies, no doubt she'd quite like to.

I was thinking about a week ago how much I wanted to go to Iceland and then, coincidentally, my mate sent me an email saying he's got return flights for him and his girlfriend for about £140 (next August) because EasyJet have started a route there. Worth checking out.

All this talk of Iceland got me looking and the place is absolutely stunning. As such we're now eyeing up a 9 day trip next summer to trek up some of the volcanoes and go out partying in Reykjavik (by all accounts the Icelandics love a bit of a party). Easyjet flights are a big bonus.

Cracking, cheers!

Hopefully off to either Fukuoka or Tokyo next year. Two of the people we're going with really want to show us around their hometown in Taiwan on the way back but I can't see myself having the money to do both so that'll have to be for another year.

Man Mo Temple, Hong Kong

Guilin China

Yokosuka, Japan

Hong Kong is the most amazing place on Earth, I'd kill to go back permanantly. Never been so quick to fall in love with a place before. The heat and humidity were a challenge but it was otherwise bliss.

It is incredible isn't it! One of the best moments of my life was having a pint with my old man, overlooking the harbour at night as a storm approached. Plan to live there in the future should things work out.
