accessory Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 You CANNOT make an artificially equal and competetive league, you end up with salary caps and player drafts etc. It then becomes mediocrity where every team has their turn at the top because they finished bottom 5 years ago and got the best draft pics. The introduction of caps and drafts and the like..change the game from "sport"..to "entertainment" DO NOT DO IT!!! The administrators of American sports twigged decades ago that a level playing field was essential to keep the leagues competive and maintain TV audiences. No audiences = no advertisers. No advertisers = declining revenues for the clubs. It's a no-brainer. But I can't see Abramovich, Sheikh Mansour or the Glazers surrendering any time soon the advantages the current system gives them.
whoareyaaa Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 Premireship is easily the best league in the world, theres always 3/4 teams fighting for the number one spot and even more this year, not to mention the dogged relagation fight till the end of the season. where as the spanish league has 2 teams every year winning the title. people just like to be a spanish bummer. and look at all the world class players in the prem league compared to other leagues. and anyone stating they would rather be in the championship chasing promotion and failing each season is dumb, that would get pretty boring, in the prem under MON they was fun times dont see why that cant happen again under Nige.
Guest MattP Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 What 3-4 teams are fighting for the English league this year? You realise there have been more different winners in Spain in the last ten years than England? World class players? Give me a group of 5 in the premiership better than Ronaldo, Messi, Ozil, Xavi and Iniesta?
HEGGSY Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 World class players? Give me a group of 5 in the premiership better than Ronaldo, Messi, Ozil, Xavi and Iniesta? exactly

Man u, Mac City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liveroool all these will be there abouts near the end of the season Man city looking like running away with it though but the rest their wont be much in it. even tottenham have a good squad now with some top quality players in it. Obviously Messi is the best player in the wolrd and Ronaldo not far behind after that 5 Players that are on the same par as the other you mentioned. Silva, Van persie, Aguero, Rooney, Gerrard, plus plenty more world class players I could name.

Arsenal are no threat, Chelsea are pretty much out of it already. They are no more challengers for the English Premiership than Levante are for the Spanish league. Silva and Van Persie would get into the top ten in Spain, no one else you mention would. (You realise Aguero was a mid-table player in Spain?)

Sorry mystic meg didnt think you could predict the rest of the season although Man city are looking like running away with it a couple of losses and its game on again. for Man utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and anyone else chasing close behind. Its not like Levante will carry on winning or be there come the end of the season. last season there was 20point gap from Barca and Real 25+ year before that oh and another 20+ gap season before that, not to mention that is just 3rd place 4th place is like 40/45points each season now have a look at the prem. 5 - 10 point gap at the maximum. Point proven I think i know what the better league is. Cheers.

Surely the German or French league is the best if thats the case as they are far closer than England or Spain? 3rd place last 3 seasons? - 71, 70, 70 points - where do you get 40/45 from? You dont have to be Mystic Meg to predict Arsenal or Liverpool wont be in the title picture this year..... Man City top of the premiership, about to go out the CL in the 1st round, Man U second - struggling to finish 2nd to Benfica and just ahead of Basle. Spurs third, couldnt even qualify for it last season. Newcastle are up there ffs : It's a dreadful league. Ath Madrid won the UEFA cup as a midtable side knocking out our title challengers.

If you managed to read the post properly you would see that the 40/45 came from the gap from 4th place not 3rd Theres no reason Man u, Chelsea, Arsenal cant put in a fight for the Title theres still 75 points up for grabs and they are all capable off doing it. English teams havent had the best of starts to the CL this year but last 7 seasons we've had more teams in the last stages than any other. and 6 out of 7 of the last CL finals a English team has been in it. Just the 3 for the spanish. and that being the one team Barca compared to 4 different english teams. think thats another point proven. Best, Closest, Most entertaining league! Edit: who gives a shit about the UEFA cup?

Why are you talking about 7 seasons ago? 5 years ago I would of agreed we had the best league in europe, probably even 3-4 years ago, 2 years ago that stopped and now we are miles behind the Spanish one, world class players dont actually want to come to the Premier League anymore unless Man City throw money at them..... Most entertaining? That's nonsense, even I'll bow and admit that's not Spain, Germany has been the most entertaining for years, Bundesliga gets more goals than any other league......you obviously didnt have to see last weeks "super sunday" and MNF.... Despite all those sides getting to the later stages we have taken 3 champions leagues in the last 25 years and Liverpool even had to cheat to win one of them. What does that say about when we get to the higher end of the game against top level sides.

Im just stating some facts I cant compare things that aint happened yet! which is why I have revered to the last 7 seasons as I cant exactly compare from 13 games this season which you are clearly doing, and nothing has changed overnight! or over the last two seasons its still a close as its ever been. Were not miles behind the spanish one at all apart from Barca and Real there behind us JESUS I would love to see some proof. your just talking shit now. Germany is shit mate much rather watch the premireship. Were talking about the better league not the better team. obviously Barca are the best team in the world at the moment but thats because they have been playing together since a young age, very taletnted and have an excellent youth setup over there. So we've still had more teams in the later stages and finals than any other leagues which is a clear fact. what else am I meant to compare with.
Guest MattP Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 How much Bundesliga do you watch? I can honestly say I struggle to see a bad game, the football Munich played when they destroyed Man City and Man Utd a couple of years ago was sublime......

I think ive proved you wrong, which is why you couldnt find no facts to suggest otherwise and the subject has moved on.. to be honest mate I dont watch hardly any Bundesliga as A I havent got the time and B it doesnt intrest me unlike the English leagues. I supose its alright to watch barca smash people to bits now and again but theres nothing that excites me about these leageues regarding any competition. on the other hand you seem to have a lot of time on your hands to cover all these leagues so carry on! you must enjoy watching all these games which is why you push a hard debate. Im off bed just seen the time Peace!

Barca lost 1-0 to Getafe tonight btw Of course we'll just ignore that as we all know there are only 2 good teams in Spain, now toodle off and get the big man up front.....
The Doctor Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Can we stop with the spain v england argument - everyone knows the Bundesliga is the way to go for a top quality league. Edit: Although whoareya - you sound like one of the brainwashed masses from the "SKY generation" - the premiership is no more competitive than La Liga and doesn't have anywhere near the quality of players either. If you'd rather the premiership than La Liga, it's equivalent to having a taster of a succulent, perfectly cooked steak then asking for a undercooked burger of dubious contents.
Corky Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 I don't see the need for the constant banging on about the Premier League being the "best in the world", "It's far more entertaining than Spain, Italy etc". Just enjoy it if you do, you'll never truly prove how good a league is compared to another.

Barca 2. Real. 25 point gap Valencia. Cheers.

Im not one of the brainwashed "SKY generation" ive been watchin football for over 25 years and wouldnt let Sky brainwash me into thinking any different than what I do. everyone BUMS barca because they win everything and Spain because they won the world cup this doesnt mean that the Spanish league is any better, nearly all the Barca players play for spain, hardly any other spanish players get a look in! Loads of players from the english league would walk into the spanish sides if we take Barca out of the equation.

LargeAl is right, you seem to be one of the brainwashed sky sports masses that believe they can't enjoy football unless dripfed the premiership in the belief you are not in the club unless you think it's the best. I bet you hardly watch any other leagues or sports. Anyone i know who watches regular premiership and La Liga games only puts one of the forward as the best.

People always say "The English League is the best in the world" because they heard it from Sky/their mate who go round passing it off as fact. It's not the most competitive nor does it have the best teams (Real Madrid and Barca are probs #1 and #2 in the world atm - look how badly English teams are doing in the CL!). Could argue that it's the most entertaining, but that's very subjective.

Whats this shit regarding Sky brainwashing bullsh*t, they cover a lot of different sports and leagues from all over the world. based in UK obviously we would get the most coverage. Real Madrid havent won or been in the final of the CL in the last 9 seasons so I wouldnt exactly use them as a comparison Only Barca have been the real threat and are the best team in the world right now. look at the facts on page 2 regarding English and Spanish teams or any other countrys in the CL.
