volpeazzurro Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 A very poor player imo and his price tag was a joke but that's not his fault in fairness. I deliberately concentrated on his play after about 5/10 minutes into the first half just to see if it was just me being unfair. Out of his first 8 attempts at a pass ONLY 1 reached a team mate. The other 7 consisted of 2 way over-hit cross field passes which went out for a throw in to Palace, 1 over-hit attempt over the top which went for a Palace goal kick and 4 that went straight to the opposition. This is absolutely nowhere near good enough. Yes we can blame the midfield for their poor play at times and quite rightly, but in the case of 3 out of the 4 passes that went to the opposition, Yuki Abe had made himself available to receive the ball. Surely a word from NP to Mills would help i.e. inform him that he is no David Beckham and pass it short to a colleague when able to. I also had a period of watching just King as he is another I have a problem with yet reading some of the posts on here I accepted it might just be me. For the period I watched him he was as I thought, totally anonymous as usual, what is the point of him? Yes he did run around quite a bit off the ball but invariably into areas where there was no chance of any meaningful contribution. Then there were some oddities also such as when Palace had a throw in, instead of finding a player to mark, King would find two Palace players and stand in between them several yards away in a sort of no-mans land. Then when we had a throw in, he would actually go and stand right next to a Palace player rather than try and find space, absolutely bizzare, is the boy just completely thick or just crap. NP has his hands full with this bunch of largely inadequates and it will take him some time to turn it round. His comments after the match that he would 'weed out the dead wood' and only have players that 'wanted to play for Leicester City' was quite telling really as it implies that in his opinion, some of them don't want to be here. There does need to be a clear out for sure but unfortunately the last administration bought quite a number of duffers i.e. Mills, St Ledger, Pantsil and Danns who are probably on very well paid long contracts who no-one will want. At least the loan player can possibly be got rid of.
Mission Unlikely Promotion Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 Whats with all the player bashing on this forum, alot of negativity towards Wellens and Mills when i think they are two of our better players usually, and anyway isnt it better to get behind all LCFC players instead of berating them?
seenitall Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 Not here chap - all about bitching at the players, Beckford, Wellens, Mills, Danns, King, Dyer, Gallagher and my favourite so far, Nugent today!!! Bizarrely, we will applaud any old player who returns for another club though - weird eh?

Strange isnt it, come on surely we all have to stay together and behind the team completely no matter what, yes we are all frustrated as fans just recently but i am sure if we stay behind the players instead of boo'ing them we will turn a corner soon?
Babylon Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 Three points. If you put in a two line reply saying someone is talking "utter shit" then what else do you expect other than for someone to take offence? IF I was LCFC Captain I would not let a player who has stated he wants out the minute Sven left to represent the club in any public capacity. Fernandes interests moved on the minute Sven's Volvo pulled out of Belvoir drive, the Club Captain should ensure that only those with the best interests of LCFC at heart go out and do public things in the name of the Foxes. Having been involved in media and getting 'Sportsmen' to show up for public occasions etc I can tell you that these things are bounced around the training ground for offers from players and it should be the Club Captain that takes responsibility for such things in my opinion. Lastly I think the fact that while Mills was suspended for a red card offence he pissed off to London for a Soccer AM jolly rather than go along and support the team at Doncaster also says a lot for Mills attitude. Pearson may well have allowed him to do so, but surely any Captain would want to be as close to his team as possible for an important game against lowly opposition, especially when the team has been struggling as it has. If his heart was in the right place he wouldn't even be asking to go because he would want to be with his team mates, to travel with them, to encourage them, to be in the dressing room at half time etc. To be the leader. So I think your suggestion that we cant say anything for him off the field is wrong, just like I can say that the little things I am seeing on the field show his hearts not in it. You can take offence if you want I couldn't care less, i think you are talking nonsense to take anything from him not being in the photo. You think Mills has any say in photo shoot? You think he knows every photo being taken? Having actually worked at lcfc, players in photos are generally whoever happens to be hanging around at the time the cameraman can grab. The stuff you are talking about is nothing to do with the captain. The club would be approached and permission granted for him to go on tv, it would have been approved and usually the money put in a kitty and given to charity. Judging from what you seem to expect of a captain I don't think anyone we had would match up. You seem to be expecting some superhero devoting his life to the club, taking control of everything and to live like a monk. God knows what you made of Walsh as captain and some of the stuff he got up to.
Mack Posted 1 January 2012 Author Posted 1 January 2012 Yes I do expect a high level of commitment to the club in every aspect on and off the field. And if there isn't any from Mills then give it to someone who will show it. Kasper shows great passion for the cause, talks well and sets an example on the field, Bamba has a positive aura around him and leads by example. We need some inspiration, someone to take the lead and show the way. In the end my bet would be one of Pearson's new signings will end up with the armband.
deep blue Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 Surprised, and disappointed, that Tunch hasn't been given a go alongside Bamba. Tunch should be calm and clever enough to cover for anyof Bamba's heart-stopping moments. And I thought Pearson rated him. Maybe in training he hasn't convinced Pearson that he's physically quite up to his old self yet.
eaststandtom Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 Mills, for me, is committed in the tackle and prepared to put his body on the line to block shots. i think he will develop into the mainstay of our defence and is far more dependable than sol bamba. regardless of wayward passing.

Sorry but when you pay £5 million for a player you don't have to expect he will develop he should bloody well be the finished article.
eaststandtom Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 'develop' meaning over time he will settle into the club as the team is clearly in a state of flux and has been for 18 months in reality. it would be hard to find a player who hasnt been effected by this thus effecting their own form. mills is a victim of this. hype, pressure, money, negligence of the fact that we play against oppositions who want to win as much as we the fans want to win also and also, as players are often the victims of, loss of form. constant team tinkering and the reasons i have just mentioned are not going to contribute towards mills or anyone player consistently to the best of their ability.
cairnsy Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 To be honest i dont see why he gets as much stick as he does. Leicester look lost without mills at the back when hes suspended. Yes hes a twat for being sent off twice already but i feel a hell of a lot more comfortable with him on the ball then Bamba. I think personally he is a better defender than bamba because he doesnt rush in as much into tackles = less easy to get turned and also he has better positioning then bamba. I remember 3 times yesterday when konchesky was left with two men at the back post and 1 led to a goal because Bamba was no where to be seen.About his distribution, it was obvious to me he was told to play the channels by pearson because it was about 5 times he played the cross field ball to gallagher and every time landed in a perfect position for galllagher to attack from.
Schlupp Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 Said it alot on this forum that I dispise Mills,He's quite evidently here for the money and is more frustrating than Vassell. He won't be leaving he'll try and get enough money out of this club before he does leave.
Corky Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 How is he evidently here for the money? Reading accepted a bid for him, we offered him a contract and he took it, understandably. He doesn't strike me as a mercenary and I think he wants to do well for us.

Maybe it's time he gave back some of exorbitant wages then until he DOES develop.
blueharmie Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 i think mills is a decent player, not worth 5mil thats for sure, but i wouldnt say he makes alot of mistakes in his game. i think he does care and lets be honest none of us know what goes on behind the scenes. Why people slate him for his distribution makes me laugh. no, sometimes its not the best, but should andy "the ghost" king and wellens be doing this job? them two alone(more so king agasint pompy) leave way to much pressure on the defence, midfield is our weak point thats why we are crap we are not taking control of games and have no creativity in there. needs a massive shake up in midfield. get off mills' back. he certainly no costworth or a keown.
eaststandtom Posted 1 January 2012 Posted 1 January 2012 Maybe it's time he gave back some of exorbitant wages then until he DOES develop. for the reasons stated there will be no chance of him developing or anyone else in the squad given the quick fix, chop and change culture of the past 18 months therefore, all the squad should should give back some of their wages. however, the exorbitant wages come as part of the culture that the club itself has created

Of course he is here for the money, it's his job! Just like everyone else who plays for us. I thought Mills had a perfectly acceptable game yesterday and pulled off several excellent passes long and short. Of course there were others that weren't so good but I chuckled when watching Man City today and saw Kompany try several long balls, none of which came off. Now he cost a hell of a lot more than Mills did and is on a hell of a lot more money. Good job we haven't got him, he'd get absolutely hammered on here.

Man city ect. They buy what is taken as a finished article and play them in the position they bought them for. Mills is not playing in an unfamiliar position he has always played in it. And what has chop and change got to do with the fact that his passing is so piss poor and his tactical awareness is so abysmal ,absolutely nothing.

seenitall Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 No one ever talks about his defending, which has cost us very few goals this season - suddenly everyone thinks £5m gets you a defender good enough to play for Arsenal or Spurs, but just because we have our 'big money' blinkers on, that is actually very cheap for a defender who at this point of the season, with a lairy guy next to him and no defensive minded midfielders in front of him has presided over the 6th best defence in the division. He is just another scapegoat for the poor season we are having because the Thais sacked the manager too early - don't worry, they'll love him soon when Nige gets things going, and it is cool to have someone from leicester in the team

Man City have spent 3 and a half years and multi millions trying to get the level they are currently playing at. feeling for the light switch in the dark. city have been doing the same. stability is crucial
