Matt Mills attitude

But they keep saying they are playing well just not scoring, it will work out for them soon.

lol

I was speaking to one of them a few weeks back just before they dropped into the bottom 3. He repeatedly said they were playing well and only 8 or 9 points of the play offs. I had to keep reminding him they were also only a point off bottom three. It does amuse me though the prospect of them becoming a yo yo club between the champ and div 3.

overplayed some balls!but also played some quality cross field balls and some into channel that eventually went out but would have been great balls if anyone bothered to chase after it! long passes were 50/50 today and defended well!

In January we need to get a proven striker and centre midfielder, and by the looks of things a new goalie as tottenham seem to be closing in on kasper!

Pearson, as an ex-centre-back,might be one of the first to suggest that a good football team should be built from the back and, sadly, we go wrong straight away.

Someone's mentioned Konch as captain and I can understand why. Not because he never makes mistakes....he was decidedly iffy in the first half today. But the bloke never gives less than everything. He doesn't hide, he doesn't less a setback deter him he challenges for everything, supports as fast as his legs will allow, varies his passing in an effort to make things happen and tries to lift his team-mates.

But we chose a bloke who many wouldn't even have in the team, who's already cost us a lot of points through reckless sendings off or signifcant mistakes and who, for all that he can be defensively formidable at times, just gives too many passes away for no reason. Kisnorbo was the same and Hobbs not much better. Why is it we fail to understand the importance of retaining possession as much as possible?

And Mills is partnered with the maverick Bamba - a committed and popular player but one for whom the simple thing so often seems too easy. And on the side we leave Tunchev - the most readable and reliable centre-back on our books, a guy who reads the game, passes the ball simply and quickly to feet and who seems to organise naturally.

I don't know if he's injured again or whether there's any other reason he seems to have been exiled into obscurity or whether the price tap on Mills nd the reported interest in Bamba virtually guarantees both of them a place. But I don't understand it football wise because our passing and support has to start from the back.

I'd accept all the weaknesses in Mills performances, apart from the sending off's, if he showed the right attitude towards the team and the club as captain.

I just noticed something else, there was a presentation made at the King Power and there's a photo of it in today's programme.

Two players are present... Nugent and FERNANDES

Matt Mills club captain? Nope... instead a bloke who cant wait to quit the club.

Millsy was probably out with Max and Helen on a jolly.

He just does not seem committed to the club at all on or off the pitch.

The only good news is he cant come out with another "The time for talking is over" speech before the game at Palace!

His attitude stinks like a rotten apple to its core, only in the team because we forked out the obscene money for him and the fact he is "captain", will he come good I am not so sure.

Mills' attitude is part of the problem, but it is also the problem of many other players, we have a group of underperforming players and that needs to change starting with the captain, we need to sign a leader there is no communication at the back, hence Abe charging out and Bamba playing them offside, we need a leader at CB and it is not Mills or Bamba or SSL, was Tunch a very vocal player? If not we need to sign a defensive leader. We also need a leader in the centre of the park, someone with experience and drive, someone like Alan Smith, out in the cold at Newcastle. Mills is not the problem he is just one of many causes to our poor season so far.

The reason he hoofs it is simple .... we put a striker on each wing and have instructed the defenders to lump it diagonally to them .... It's a pub football tactic that his manager insists upon.

I'd get off his back and be asking why the manager wants him to lump it forward like that.

You have got to be shitting me, you are having a go at him and come to the conclusion he isn't committed to the club because he wasn't present during a photo. I despair that so many people WANT to find problems with people so badly, they resort to utter shit like this.

Absolutely, criticise him for his footballing ability, but to slate him for not being present at an event (did you know it took place and when?) based on a photo in the match programme is utterly ridiculous.

Give him a go alongside a solid head like Tunchev who he knows will be next to him all the time and not caught 20 yards away when the ball is in the box. Might even see a different Mills then.

I cant believe people criticize Mills and Bamba! They are not amazing but today Schlupp nor Gallagher tracked back, our midfield was dire! and we pushed players forward to try and force numbers into the final third in an effort to score a goal only to be hit on the break! Abe had an average game and we have absolutely no creativity in the middle!

I was merely pointing out that if you look across the piece since his arrival and installation as club captain he has hardly acted as one.

This and many other instances point to it.

He should be the leader, the figurehead, the man to take responsibility, the man to be at the forefront, the man only too happy to take the lead, the man who had put himself out to earn the respect of his peers, the man who on and off the field optimises all that should be positive and good about our players.

Of course it's absurd to suggest that he wasn't in a photo so he is a bad captain, it's the whole picture that makes me think this, not just this one incident, hence my original post that began this thread.

I think we all know his play has been poor overall and his sending off's have made his short career with us even more disappointing, the original point I was trying to make was put all that aside, the poor passing, the mistakes in defence, the stupid tackle for a red card... forget it all... but what are you left with? A committed passionate man who would do anything for the cause of LCFC?

Sadly not, and this is my point. Performances aside this guy has a bad attitude, and should not be leading our team onto the pitch.

This was my point.

On a personal note you continue to disappoint me with you rude shoot from the hip posts.

Ideally we would get rid but a nice bit of cash was spent to bring him here and he is one of our better centre halfs, much as i liked Sven he did make some real howler's in the transfer market :xmassad: whether we can afford to replace him at present when other areas in the team need more urgent attention remain's to be seen so Nigel just has to try and work to his strength's.

Babs posts can be ammusingly rude at time's but that is nothing to some of the crap that get's PM'd by a certain poster here to me and got his PMs put on ignore tut tut

You say it's not about his performaces. But the thing is if he was performing on the pitch personally, and we were performing on the pitch as a team, you most probably wouldn't be bringing up his captaincy. I would love you to point out what it is he isn't doing exactly, and what he's doing that isn't right.

You only see what he does for 90 minutes during the game, and even then you can't hear anything he is saying. So I fail to see how anyone can come to any conclusion about his captaincy.

People also seem to miss the positive things he does. For instance when Waghorn was here he absolutely smashed the ball into the crowd and about knocked a woman out. He just waved sorry and ran off. Mills went after him and had a quiet word with him, Waghorn then ran back over, went into the crowd to check on the woman and gave her a hug with Mills watching on.... is that what Captains should be about?

If someone makes a stupid post I'll say it's stupid. Drawing anything from someone not being in a photo is ridiculous.

have to agree.far to many of our players over paid and overrated.mills not my first choice for captain but as has allready been pointed out who else do you choose? big clearout in jan please. And please please please no more "big names" that dont care about anything but payday! need someone who cares about lcfc and takes pride in wearing our shirt! really dissapointed with beckford, and have now accepted that the hype that surrounded him a couple of seasons ago was just a fluke.think he will probably leave or be pushed out in jan.Still think pearson needs more time and not total panic stations just yet,but we might have to face facts that we aint going up this season and cant really blame him for it!

So someone born in Leicester, preferably a central defender - hmmmmmmmm

Mills is fine at defending, it's his distribution which is woful.

The fact that he continually hoofs it tells me that he is under instruction to do so (Bamba's role seems to be to square it to Mills so he can hoof it). The fact that those hoofs lead to throw ins for the opposition tells me that he should stop doing it but sadly someone is instructing him to continue doing it.

And how exactly do you work that out then? Watching the players for 90 minutes doesn't particularly give me a great oversight into who does or doesn't care about the club. Do we just want someone who shows (yes i'm going to say it) PASHUUUN! By running around like a headless chicken.

Three points.

If you put in a two line reply saying someone is talking "utter shit" then what else do you expect other than for someone to take offence?

IF I was LCFC Captain I would not let a player who has stated he wants out the minute Sven left to represent the club in any public capacity. Fernandes interests moved on the minute Sven's Volvo pulled out of Belvoir drive, the Club Captain should ensure that only those with the best interests of LCFC at heart go out and do public things in the name of the Foxes. Having been involved in media and getting 'Sportsmen' to show up for public occasions etc I can tell you that these things are bounced around the training ground for offers from players and it should be the Club Captain that takes responsibility for such things in my opinion.

Lastly I think the fact that while Mills was suspended for a red card offence he pissed off to London for a Soccer AM jolly rather than go along and support the team at Doncaster also says a lot for Mills attitude. Pearson may well have allowed him to do so, but surely any Captain would want to be as close to his team as possible for an important game against lowly opposition, especially when the team has been struggling as it has. If his heart was in the right place he wouldn't even be asking to go because he would want to be with his team mates, to travel with them, to encourage them, to be in the dressing room at half time etc. To be the leader.

So I think your suggestion that we cant say anything for him off the field is wrong, just like I can say that the little things I am seeing on the field show his hearts not in it.

Do you really think the captain to have any say on what other players do off the field? It's down to the management staff and the suits to decide whether players should be doing PR for the club.
