stockyfox Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Nigel Pearson must address the issue of Discipline or rather Indiscipline. It should be made unequivically clear that Impetuous outbursts resulting in red cards will not be tolerated by the Club and will be punished. Steve Howard was I think? the fifth Foxes player to be shown a red card this season. Every player must know that anything you say that is less than complimentary to the ref or any other official will be 'taken down and used in evidence against them'. Furthermore, the decision of the officials will 98% be fully supported and ratified by the FA and may even be extended. Even if players are fully justified in voicing their opinion, they have to be prepared to bite their tongue and walk away. To be yellow carded means that they are walking on eggshells for the rest of the game. A red card not only has obvious repercussions for the player but it then puts extra pressure on the rest of the team and it disrupts the balance of the team. A game ban further restricts the manager's choice of personnel for the next match(es). But above all, it is sickening for the fans seeing our team go down to ten men and then hanging on as the other team try to press home their advantage. To that end, players should be aware that they also have a moral responsibility to the fans and that there is far more injustuce than justice in the world of football.
davieG Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Seemingly many don't agree with you as they always seem to get a rapturous cheer and clap when they do get sent off whatever it's for. I don't know if Howard got one today but that's the norm.
Matt Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 I don't wanna turn this into another 'single out Matt Mills thread' again but; As club captain has got almost half of our total sending's off (2) and 4 yellows to his name. Also Stringer said Mills wasn't going to calm Sol down when he was going off on one, Mills has gotta start leading this team (And performing) if he wants to continue as captain.
Stuliasz Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Red cards for mouthing off at the officials are probably the most unnecessary way to get sent off and players deserve to be punished for this. We never seem to have been quite so vocal towards officials as we have this season, I'm guessing it's the high level of expectation and certain individuals are struggling with the pressure of that. Take the Premier League for instance, it's mainly the teams at the top with high expectation levels that are the ones who surround the refs and berate the officials more than the mid to lower table teams.
Kitchandro Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Good thread, spot on. There is no excuse for it and it is unprofessional. Players need to control their tempers, some particular individuals especially. We have enough work to do without discipline counting against us.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 No idea what Howard did because it was right over on the far side and at the other end but I'm not surprised Sol went mental after the award of that corner. He was nowhere near touching it and did brilliantly to shepherd it out only for the dickhead lino to **** him over. Beginning to wonder if there are actually any decent officials these days.
stockyfox Posted 2 January 2012 Author Posted 2 January 2012 The players are paid exorbitant inflated salaries to be on the field of play, using their perceived skills in the cause of bringing success to Leicester City FC. There is no-way I will cheer or applaud a player who is obliged to leave the field of play, especially if it is for abusive conduct. If a player thinks that he is serving the best interests of the Club by taking an early bath, then he should be transfer-listed. They are supposed to be professionals. i expect them to behave and conduct themselves in a professional manner befitting of the Club.
cc_star Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Yep agree, needs addressing Like other areas of players attitudes I'd hope it's happening on an ongoing basis there was a job which needed doing, as we couldn't get possession in their half, Howard was brought on to hold the ball up & allow the midfield to get forward a bit Cannot believe Howard let NP & his team-mates down like that. I hope the club fine him to the maximum extent they can too
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 5 red cards this season I think cant remember ever getting that mant in a season before.
Lambert09 Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Anybody know what he said? Or was it just swearing of some sort?
Milton Keynes Fox Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Anybody know what he said? Or was it just swearing of some sort? called him a 'ginger cvnt'
davieG Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 Anybody know what he said? Or was it just swearing of some sort? He suggested to the Official he must have been listening to the game on the radio and not watching it to make decisions like that.
Corky Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 He must've said something particularly bad to be sent off for foul and abusive language given some of the stuff officials have to put up with. 5 red cards is appalling, the discipline needs to be sorted out soon.
Len Finsbury Posted 2 January 2012 Posted 2 January 2012 I can understand and forgive some red cards. A foul in the box when an opponent's clean through or a handball on the line to prevent a certain goal has some rational thought behind it. Even two yellow cards for niggly fouls can be reasoned. However, getting sent off for foul and abusive language or two yellow cards for dissent is unacceptable. I wouldn't shed a tear if that carthorse never puts on a Leicester shirt again.
ChubbsLCFC Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 As stated above apparently he called the Lino a 'ginger cvnt'
1964FOX Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 As stated Sol showed a bit of passion when a clearly incorrect decision was given against him. I am all for respect to the officials but how far do the players go, it seems they have to remain silent and respectful no matter how bad the officials perform. Are you sure if you were playing you would just go " ok Lino you are correct and trot away happily" It works two ways if the players are expected to be professional then surely we should expect a certain standard from the officials to get things right and not miss things that are two yards away from them, yesterday it could have cost us with the Sol corner issue and against Ipswich the penalty not given. If Steve did call the Lino a ginger **** then he's an idiot and in that case deserved to be sent off, I can excuse passion but not stupidity, thankfully a ban for him is perhaps a good thing as he can't be picked.
stockyfox Posted 3 January 2012 Author Posted 3 January 2012 To my mind, the 'Respect' campaign is all one sided. The FA are demanding that 'respect' is shown to officials but they show little or no respect for players or managers comments in return. Their immediate response to any criticism is that that player / manager is bringing the game into disrepute. Alan Young summed it up perfectly when he said the ref doesn't always get it right but he never gets it wrong! It is shameful that the powers that be seem to do nothing to address this issue. Instead they are happy to preside over a group of mediocre officials, most of whom are simply not up to the job. Of course, the game needs these officials but the overall standard of their competence is generally appalling and they are further denied the use of technology when they are genuinely unsure of what their decision should be. This contrasts so much with Rugby Union. You rarely, if ever, hear of officials being berated or of players or coaches bringing the game into disrepute. There is respect on both sides. Soccer is a gentlemans game played by hooligans, Rugby is a hooligans game played by gentlemen.I often wonder if the word 'played' should be changed to 'ruled'.

Spot on and would have been a perfect post until you said soccer. I despise that word to the fullest. It's football.
stockyfox Posted 3 January 2012 Author Posted 3 January 2012 Spot on and would have been a perfect post until you said soccer. I despise that word to the fullest. It's football. Fair point Brown Fox, but the word Football embraces both Codes so strictly speaking, I should have said 'Association Football' and then 'Rugby Football'.
Captain... Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 The refs bring it on themselves to an extent by letting it happen and letting players at top clubs get away with it. We all see it on MOTD from United Chelsea and Liverpool, I can't remember who it was recently who said that he is going to start telling his players to surround the ref and hassle them more because they are playing with too much respect and getting punished for it. Not excusing Howard, he is a dick for saying that, but it is clear week in week out that teams get an advantage by berating the ref and chasing after him and surrounding him, even when he has made the correct decision. In summary Refs = weak, Howard = Dick
NewquayFox Posted 3 January 2012 Posted 3 January 2012 As an ex Ref myself you get a split second to make a judgement but must admit that watching some of these so called 'Top Refs' they make me squirm, very one sided against certain teams, and too 'matey' with the players. What Howard did and said was wrong and he let everyone down but luckily City didnt get punished. Refs and Assistants get assessed and marked at every game at that level and as an Assessor myself i'm suprised some of them get a game the next week, if players performed that poor they would be dropped... ;0)
