Thieving cunts in Leicester

My Parent's house got done over at the weekend,

Seemed a fairly professional job, came without tools, stole some hedgeloppers from a neighbours shed, smashed in the window and were in, they wore gloves and even cleaned up some of the muddy foot prints after themselves.

Found the car keys and nicked off with the car, telly and a few valuable items on display easy to find.

Basically just a warning, it has been on the increase in Leicestershire, don't leave your car keys lying around when you are not in the house, even if only out for the day take them with you and keep spares somewhere safe, they came around 6pm, so it was dark but hardly late, they were in the house for probably less than 10 minutes, didn't ransack it but took what they could sell, so Gold Jewellery, TV, laptop, Digital cameras.

Obviously you can't hide the TV but everything else could have been put away more securely and we may still have them especially the car keys.

Just a heads up really, they have been hitting all over Leicester police believe it to be the same gang.

Hope it doesn't happen to any of you lot.

I really need to get the laptop safe I was given as a present in 2010 installed and stop keeping my laptop under the settee.

Do whatever you can to stop folk getting around the back of your house, and ignore people that say there's no point having a burglar alarm

They came over the back of a few people's gardens, the police think they were just trying the luck going through back gardens to find an empty house. It is difficult to get round the back from the front of the house, but there are just low fences between the neighbours. There is also an easy access point to people's back garden's that has been complained about a lot but nothing has been done about it.

No they didn't have an alarm, seems stupid now, but they just see them as a nuisance and an eyesore, normally it is a very safe area.

House alarm?

Does anyone actually call the police when they hear an alarm? It's usually a false alarm (no pun intended) and people seem to ignore them when they hear them!

I HATE GLOVES! My Brothers room got done over. Everything jimmied the door used his own bed sheet to bung the stuff in and robbed the lot. The crime team came in with the van that says "forensics" About an hour past and my brother and i were waiting for the one piece of evidence to catch the thief (CSI Style) The woman came out of the room and just looked at us and said "They wore gloves" and packed up and left my jaw just dropped :( Couldn't believe it

My neighbour was furious after hearing next door but one's alarm which had been blaring out for nearly 25 minutes. He went round to complain after finishing his tea and watching the end of Countdown. His frustration grew as his knocking went unanswered. Upon peering / possibly shouting through the letter box he noticed the house was on fire.

Forensics came round and said they were wearing woollen gloves, but they got a bit of a foot print, the trainers had a zig zag tread. So beware of people wearing trainers and woollen gloves.

They robbed a pillow case to put stuff in but they weren't interested in things to sell on the market, so the DVD Player, DVDs, cds, non gold jewellery was all still there, didn't even bother with the bottle of champagne, or brand new tools I got my Dad for Christmas, still in the packaging. Worth about £100 at retail price.

Not a great start to the new year.

No but the burglars aren't exactly gonna hang around when that goes off are they?

They might do if they know no bleeder is going to bother coming round to check. :P

My argument for burglar alarms is a pretty simple one, in that I've known shitloads of people (including my own family) who have been burgled over the years, and none of the properties in question had burglar alarms. I'm also pretty sure that none of the people I know who have burglar alarms have been broken into since they had them.

The argument that nobody pays attention to them is a valid one up to a point (although in my experience people do at least have a look out the window to see what's going on), but this is pretty academic because you don't buy the alarm so that people intervene when you get burgled, you buy it to discourage people burgling you in the first place, which they seem to be pretty effective at. Loads of people still don't have them, so burglars will go for them first.

The other thing to do is get a big evil dog, but they smell and need walking

I'm going to start a burglar alarm crime wave... nobody will see it coming!!!

Big dog is surely the best deterrent. Trying to get past 30+ slavering fangs without causing at least a lot of noise is very, very difficult. Years ago our medium sized Heinz dog saw off someone trying to break into a shed with just it's barking.

Also, the alarm business - if it's deterrent then a dummy alarm should work just as well.

Mums got done some time ago, we fitted a alarm straight after.

She got done again a couple of years ago, they smashed the kitchen door and got in, the alarm went off and they legged it, they got a coupe of small things that were in the kitchen, but nothing more, and didnt trash the place like they did they time before.

We also got a call from 2 neighbours that the alarm was going off, it isnt one of the ones that goes off all the time either so was taken seriously.

If you do get an alarm fitted, make sure it makes LOADS of noise in the house when it goes off, they will leg it!

Another point is that you dont have to take the alarm for a walk or feed it like a dog!!!

It is a very good point about the alarm that if you've got one and somebody else hasn't they will go for the house without the alarm we are probably going to get one instaleld. The good thing is it has given everyone who lives on the street a bit of a shake up, the neighbourhood watch scheme is getting dusted off and people will start taking a bit more interest in what is going on in the street.

Don't make the mistak my parents did, fit the alarm now, don't wait for something bad to happen before you do something and start talking to your neighbours more, let them know when you are out and how you are getting there. Some people in the street new my Parents were away for the weekend, but they didn't know they were getting the train, and so didn't notice the car had been stolen.

You need to just keep an eye out for each other.

Sucks dude :( where was it? have you spoken to the police in the area? I'm from the monsell and am practically on first name terms with the police in the area :P They said he could give us about 10 names who would of done it but without any proof he couldn't go after them. I've never understood the mentality of it :( ****ing scum

Pretty much had the whole force round, normal copper, forensics, PCSO and a detective, they said it looks like the same ones that have been hitting areas all over the county, the same MO, in through the back, usually through glass on a back door or patio door, quick search, and make off in the car. What has shocked me is the time of day they did it. We just assumed it had been the middle of the night, but 5-6pm. When I was growing up there I would have been out on the street with my friends playing footy in the dark, or hide and seek at that time, I guess all the kids are inside playing on their playstations.

They also managed to nick a neighbours plates and stick them on the car as well so it would be harder to trace.

Mate which area do you parents live in? if you dont mind telling. just to make sure what area they have been targeting. thnks.

Police said they had been targetting all over Leicestershire, normally only one incident in one area and move on, I would prefer not to say where they live, this was another thing that the police said to be careful of, leaving details of when you are going away on twitter accounts or Facebook this can often alert people to an empty house.

Someone broke into our car last week. I say broke in, I mean opened the door because it wasn't locked. And they robbed three empty bottles of water and a packet of mouldy wine gums. And left the car door open all night. Weirdos.

Leicester is awash with thieves. I too was burgled - on New Year's Day. Thankfully they've arrested someone so I can't say any more for now.
