marko Posted 29 November 2012 Posted 29 November 2012 You got tickets? Only managed to get days 1,2 and 5 at Trent Bridge Bunch of us are in the ballot for Oval test. I'm going to Trent Bridge as well. Manage to get tickets for every day of the test.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 29 November 2012 Posted 29 November 2012 Don't worry to much Mitchell Johnson has been recalled for all your booing neeeds This has to be the worst decsion selection descion, he hasn't even been bowling well in first class cricket. Whole new pace attack for this match will be intersting.
Guest MattP Posted 1 December 2012 Posted 1 December 2012 South Africa finally turn up. One bad day from Australia in 15 and it's going to cost them the series. No excuse from Clarke mind after tea, completely waved the white flag with his field.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 1 December 2012 Posted 1 December 2012 Was a very, very bad day. Batters gave very little bar Wade and Hasto. Bowlers didn't bowl to any plan at all which Smith and Amala had a field day with.
Guest MattP Posted 3 December 2012 Posted 3 December 2012 You got tickets? Only managed to get days 1,2 and 5 at Trent Bridge Bunch of us are in the ballot for Oval test. Sorry fella missed this. Got day 3 at Trent Bridge and a day at Lords. Will probably turn up at Trent Bridge and pay over the odds on day 4/5 if it's going well. Going to try and pull some strings with the BA when I'm in Auckland for the 3rd test in March, they usually have a allocation for a few they'll dish out to the travelling fans.
marko Posted 3 December 2012 Posted 3 December 2012 South Africa are a remarkable team. Imagine if they had a decent spinner.
Guest MattP Posted 3 December 2012 Posted 3 December 2012 South Africa are a remarkable team. Incredible thing is even when they are being outplayed they seem to find a way to hold on. 12 tests away from home unbeaten now, that's some serious form.

How'd you manage the Lord's one? I'm presuming through contacts since the ballot doesn't start until next week!
Guest MattP Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 How'd you manage the Lord's one? I'm presuming through contacts since the ballot doesn't start until next week! Yeah a business contact of mine owns four seats there for the next ten years, lovely spot as well behind the arm. He's promised me a day and I'll be getting him as pissed as possible next time I see him to try and get some more

I usually try and sit in the Edrich stand when I go.

That's it. It's the best stand in there for me as well. I'm still not a huge fan of Lords though in terms of watching, the ground and ambiance is lovely but I still get more excited at the pie and pint days at Edgbaston and Headlingley etc, seems a bit more real.

Have only lived in the cricketing hotbed of Lincolnshire, then around Coventry/Leamington as a student too poor for cricket, my main live cricketing experiences have been down Lord's and the Oval since I moved to London a few years ago. I should have got round to getting Edgbaston tickets since I k know a lot of Uni people from Birmingham but it never occurred to me. Idiot. Still, at least you can take your own booze into Lord's
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 All this talk about ashes is getting me jealous, annoying thing is my MCC membership h as reciprocal rights at Lords in the members as well.
Guest MattP Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 All this talk about ashes is getting me jealous, annoying thing is my MCC membership h as reciprocal rights at Lords in the members as well. That associate or full? I've been asking a friend to propose me for years but he won't do it , he has played Bridge for the MCC here. Waiting list is 18 years once forwarded but you can become an associate within that time scale. What's it like in Melbourne?
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 4 December 2012 Posted 4 December 2012 i'm a full, the reciprical rights are only like guest passes and you have to apply. MCC membership is you need 2 full members to sign your application form then you pay $80 just to submit the forms. Then wait approximately 23-25 years according to the last newsletter. You would probably get a restricted after 18 or 19 which gets you in most match days barring real big ones and certain AFL finals and you can't go in to certain bars and rooms. I got my restricted when i was 15 and my full when i was 18, my dad nominated me when i was born. My pop reached his 50 years this year which means he gets treated like royalty when ever he goes and gets to seat in the special 50 year member section which is quality and probably best seats in the house.........not that he can see the matches any more
Guest MattP Posted 5 December 2012 Posted 5 December 2012 Another terrible toss to lose, swear the Indians are using a dodgy coin here,
Captain... Posted 5 December 2012 Posted 5 December 2012 Managed to do my usual trick of waking up, sticking TMS on just as we take the 4th wicket, then have just listened to India score well. Always happens, come on England we need Sachin's wicket, he's not bad this lad and can hurt us from here.
Guest MattP Posted 5 December 2012 Posted 5 December 2012 Might regret not getting Sach early here, he looks good now. Bowled very well though, nothing in the pitch again.

Guest MattP Posted 5 December 2012 Posted 5 December 2012 Been a great day whatever now, looked a certain 500 pitch this one so to have them 246-6 at any point is a great effort. Need to bat well though as you dont want to be on Day 4/5 here, looks like it's really going to crack up as the days go on.
Corky Posted 5 December 2012 Posted 5 December 2012 Cook is certainly following Hussain in losing tosses. Anderson was great.
notnow john Posted 5 December 2012 Posted 5 December 2012 I was never totally convinced about Cook as captain but today he was excellent. Maybe time for a word meal
Guest MattP Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Another excellent session, bat well today and this match is there for the taking.
