Guest MattP Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 From my experience out there they very much preferred the one day games and only really got interested on day 4-5 of a test match when a result was likely. Their performance in this match is hardly going to attract a crowd though (I think they had a fair few on day 1). When they are going to win you mean. (for test matches) Virtually Indian supporter I know vanishes when they are losing but you don't see the end of them when they have won something.
James. Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Smash it about for the first hour or two, let the wicket deteriorate a bit more, then unleash Monty and bowl them out with an innings to spare.
purpleronnie Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 A decent day, the only downside was bell and patel....both really need runs and on this wicket had a great chance to cement their places. Good to see prior and swann adding runs at the end. Hopefully we can get 650+ and bowl them out without having to bat again.

Can't see us getting that much, would be good to make them toil for an hour or so, but I can see wickets falling quickly tomorrow, the bowlers will be refreshed and they will know they need wickets, while the batsmen will be looking to score quickly.

Would declare if we got to 600 anyway I'd imagine. We'll want 5 sessions at them, even if they bat for 4 then we should be able to knock off a minimal amount towards the end.

To be honest I think we will be lucky to make 100 runs tomorrow, I love watching Swann bat, but he will come out swinging tomorrow, and rightly so, fire off a quick 20 then hole out, then I can't see Finn, Anderson and Monty hanging around long, and to be honest there is not much point in doing so either except to support Prior, I would probably declare as soon as Prior is out, definitely once he and Swann are gone, not point putting Jimmy and Finn in the firing line to score slowly and waste time we may need later on in the match.

(for test matches) Virtually Indian supporter I know vanishes when they are losing but you don't see the end of them when they have won something. They seem to go on Twitter and start abusing anyone and everyone. As well as telling the world how bad England are, how unlucky they are and how the umpires are against them. Bumble gets some right charlies on his.
Guest MattP Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Bangladesh 13-5 after 5 overs. Guess who is on Bangladesh at 4/1 They seem to go on Twitter and start abusing anyone and everyone. As well as telling the world how bad England are, how unlucky they are and how the umpires are against them. Of all the sports I follow they are the worst set of fans I have ever come across, deluded, abusive and devoid of any sort of sensible communication.

Agree with that. 200 lead is fine, if we have to chase anything less than 150 on the last day it should be comfortable anyway with this Indian attack.
notnow john Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Should be able to achieve 250 lead, which we will probably need to be able to attack their batsmen . The rate the pitch deteriorates will be key.

I know. I have yet to see more than a handful of comments that don't berate England; some of it's pretty vitriolic too. Another thing I've noticed is how few of the crowd and players applaud centuries; today being another example when Cook got his.
Ross-Kemp Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 200 should be enough. Trying to convince the other half we need to spend next Christmas down under for the ashes. Looks to be very expensive though.
leicsmac Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 Looks like 200 is going to be enough. India started well but have utterly fallen apart in the latter sessions today. England 2 wickets away from an innings win!
purpleronnie Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 Even after the collapse this morning it looks like it'll be an innings victory. Great bowling again.
Simmo86 Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 Ashwin and Sharma not rolling over. Would love an innings victory!
Super_horns Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 Who would have thought after the 1st test we'd potentialy be winning the 3rd by an innings to take a 2-1 lead!
leicsmac Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 No innings win then...but when the last wicket falls send KP in as an opener and see how few balls it takes him to chase down the nominal target.
Corky Posted 8 December 2012 Posted 8 December 2012 Another class performance, hope we can wrap it up early tomorrow.
Captain... Posted 9 December 2012 Posted 9 December 2012 Another class performance, hope we can wrap it up early tomorrow. If we can't they should be taken out and shot. Edit: Just noticed it is we when talking about winning, but them when it comes to the punishment.
