Guest MattP Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 I know I've said it before but Cook is going to be the greatest batsman we hae ever priduced, the man is absolutely phenomenal.
Alexikokopops Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 I know I've said it before but Cook is going to be the greatest batsman we hae ever priduced, the man is absolutely phenomenal. Ever since the Gabba in 2010 he's been an absolute machine.
Guest MattP Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Ever since the Gabba in 2010 he's been an absolute machine. A century here and he goes ahead of Hammond, Cowdrey, Boycott and Pietersen as having the most test centuries of any England player. At the age of 27.
leicsmac Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Cook should easily be looking for 10000+ runs over his career. Don't think he'll pass Sachin's all time record but he may well get second place. Here's hoping he makes another ton here.
Captain... Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Another happy wake up here, good work lads, now lets smash them, nice to see Compton stick around, and make some reasons, lets see if he can convert.
Guest MattP Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Could all depend on how long he want's to go. Cook now the youngest man to score 7000 runs in test cricket.

Don't think he'll pass Sachin's all time record but he may well get second place. Here's hoping he makes another ton here. Rahul Dravid just said on TMS that Tendulkar has been the youngest to reach all the test milestones (1000, 2000, 3000 etc.) but Cook has just become the youngest to reach 7000 test runs.
surrifox Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 I know I've said it before but Cook is going to be the greatest batsman we hae ever priduced, the man is absolutely phenomenal. this He owes a big debt of thanks to Goochie for sorting out his technique; after a good start to his career he kept getting out playing round his front leg and must have been close to being dropped at one time
surrifox Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 well done to Trottsky too - battled well after failures in the first 2 tests
Guest MattP Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Goochie has done a fantastic job with him. This just looks so easy at the minute, they can't stop us and they certainly can't bowl us out. Think we would have the series sewn up had we got the tosses of the coin they have.
Corky Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 I know I've said it before but Cook is going to be the greatest batsman we hae ever priduced, the man is absolutely phenomenal. He is, no doubt.
Guest MattP Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Could do with stepping this on a bit now, can't lose the match from this position. Can only win it.
Guest MattP Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Poor wicket there ! No idea what to make of it, just bizarre.
Alexikokopops Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 I've just realised the size of our tail. Monty's in at 9!
notnow john Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 The attendance looks pitiful for a test match! It's either too expensive or they're obsessed with T20
FoxyPV Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Patel's gone. Surprised by Bell's inclusion in this test.
Alexikokopops Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 I've just realised the size of our tail. Monty's in at 9! According to Cricinfo. Sky have sensibly got him coming in at 11. The attendance looks pitiful for a test match! It's either too expensive or they're obsessed with T20 Some parts are looking relatively full, some not so. Still, Eden Gardens does hold 100k+ so it's going to be hard to fill it It's the age old problem of tests being on during working hours. Pink ball tests will be interesting when they come in.
Corky Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 I've just realised the size of our tail. Monty's in at 9! Surely Anderson is a better batsman than Monty?
leicsmac Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Reckon a 200 lead will be enough here - if anything we don't went to get too far ahead, so we can dangle a carrot for the Indian batsmen and perhaps make them play a little less cautiously than if they were just trying to save the game. Perhaps give it some real long handle for the rest of today then an overnight declaration in order?
Guest MattP Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Surely Anderson is a better batsman than Monty? I'm a better batsman than Monty. Good lead this, anything more than 200 should be comfortably enough, still like to bat for a hour or so tomorrow if we can and scuff this pitch up a bit more.
Alexikokopops Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 Surely Anderson is a better batsman than Monty? See the post above yours... According to Cricinfo. Sky have sensibly got him coming in at 11.
James. Posted 7 December 2012 Posted 7 December 2012 The attendance looks pitiful for a test match! It's either too expensive or they're obsessed with T20 From my experience out there they very much preferred the one day games and only really got interested on day 4-5 of a test match when a result was likely. Their performance in this match is hardly going to attract a crowd though (I think they had a fair few on day 1).
