hairy Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 Nifty web page that helps you understand the scale of the smallest and largest things in the universe. h**p://images.4channel.org/f/src/589217_scale_of_universe_enhanced.swf
Zingari Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 where can i buy a Gomez Hamburger ? they a fookin huge !
MikeyT Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 My mind can't even begin to comprehend some all of this stuff.
leicsmac Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 Fvcking brilliant, isn't it? Shit like this is the reason I got into space and physics in the first place. It is truly insane how big the visible Universe is. And that's just the visible universe - the true size of the Universe is far bigger, we think. And all of the matter in it is made of particles (and waves) so small, we can only theorise they exist because trying to observe the fvkcing things directly by shining any kind of light/radiation on them means they're no longer there/change. Mindblowingly brilliant. I fvcking adore this stuff. Puts a real perspective on things.
RumbleFox Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 Amazing. Love this kind of thing. The thought that we are so tiny and so insignificant is, I find, both supremely terrifying and completely comforting. Great visual aid. I have always been interested in the vastness of the universe and then I started to learn about it and my brain exploded but, ya know, in a good way 'n' that. Thanks for sharing. X
StanSP Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 Stunning. Love this kind of stuff. Really puts things in to perspective!
yorkie1999 Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 I Know that your Kn*b is the lightest thing in the universe because even your imagination can lift it.
Greg2607 Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 The bit that I find hard to comprehend is the fact that at some point, in the distant distant distant distant future, is that all of the stars will have burnt all of their fuel, and that due to entropy, the particles will be so dispersed that they are too far apart to attract each other. The universe will be a nothingness. just a HUGE, black, empty, nothingness. How the hell does that work!
Tom17LCFC Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 Dead interested in all of this, really can't get my head around it.
