I am doing some research on Leicester fans views regarding the match day the stadium and match day experience.

I know these things have been discussed many times before but I'm looking for the percentage of people who think certain things, hence the poll.

Question 3 allows multiple choices. Additional comments about the poll questions or the other issues about match days would be appreciated.

Don't worry, I'm not going to ask about swapping the Kop with the family stand.

I've done it for ya mate..

What's the research?

Obviously the atmosphere and standard of football has generally been gash since we got here but I think the actual stadium itself in terms of facilities like kiosks, toilets, view and just general concourse space are a lot better

I know a lot will say Filbert Street is their preferred ground because of the potential atmosphere and character but in terms of views of the game itself the Walkers is great.

Prefer varied stands tbh and am a fan of a main stand and a double decker. Not sure why they can't be incorporated into these newer grounds.

Slightly off topic but I wet to Luton town away a few weeks ago and their stadium is one of the weirdest I have ever seen!

One side of the pitch has no stand, just executive boxes and two rows of seats in front, the away end is built into the houses like the turnstiles at good old Filbo were. But when you exit the ground you are literally climbing down stairs that look into people's bedrooms and gardens

Also in the away end the kiosk is at the top of the stand at the back and the end of the stand has no seating (like an empty block) where you que up the terracing to get your pie + pint!

But by far the weirdest thing about the place is the fact that they have managed to squeeze in FIVE sides to the ground! You have the two end stands as normal, the boxes down one side bu the main stand is only 3/4 the length of the pitch and there is an extra stand squeezed into the corner at a weird angle.

A strange and tired looking stadium but truly fantastic to look at - a really traditional ground - I hope they keep it for a long time to come yet.

I answered that I preferred Filbert Street but while that is true, we needed to move out of the place.

If we could've redeveloped and raised the capacity to 32000 then great but the club had been trying for so long that it obviously wasn't going to happen. Without a major facelift it probably would've been very run down by now as well.

So...I will always remember Filbert Street with more affection than should be possible for a pile of bricks but I am happy enough at the KP Stadium and once we are in the Premier League, which is what the ground was designed for, then some of the problems won't seem like problems any more.

The new stadium also offers potential that Filbert Street could never have done.

The thing with FS (although I only witnessed it in the last couple of years) is it was different and interesting. The views weren't great but it was good fun to be there 99% of the time, it had a buzz whereas the KPS doesn't. Why? I don't know but if I was a wealthy chap who brought Leicester and had a massive amount of money I'd get rid of the KPS so at least we had an interesting to look at Stadium which is different, much like Brighton's, probably personal preference. I just can't say I'm proud of the KPS.

Kenilworth Road is a great ground as is Edgar Street.

Yeah, I definitely prefer peculiar looking grounds to your run-of-the-mill symmetrical ones.

But why is that? lol

I particularly love Bristol Rovers' Memorial Stadium which has like 9 separate stands lol ...with terracing, seating, tents, everything. Very strange :D

Interesting really. Times are a-changing, if you'd done this three or four years ago then filbert street and no goal music would have won by landslide.

Potential means fvck all. The period we've been at Filbert Way has been our worst in modern history and that's that. Yeah football has changed and not modernising is a risky business but who knows, we might not be knocking around in the doldrums if we could still initmidate teams and suck the ball into the net. Until it actually brings us some success then I'm yet to be convinced that it's got any advantages apart from the view and always being able to buy a beer.

I'm surprised at some of the votes. 50/50 between the KP and Filbo is strange considering all the nostalgic moaning people do on here :P For what it's worth, I think if we had a stadium a cross between the two it would be about right in my opinion.

I'm also surprised that goal music and the stands being far away from the pitch aren't less popular, I thought they were forum pet hates (as well as mine if I'm honest). But there ya go, that's what these polls are for.

Cheers folks

Ok this thread is only just 7 hours old but the thing that surprises me most about the results so far? Filbert Street v King Power Stadium is 50/50. The only thing I can think is the reason is people who never went/can't remember Filbert Street have voted and voted for the King Power Stadium.

Filbert Street pisses all over the King Power Stadium, we should never have left, it was a shit hole, but it was our shit hole.

40 people prefer the King Power to Filbert Street? lol

Just have to presume though 40 didn't ever visit our old ground.

Like you say, it was a shit hole, it just wasn't viable to stay there. From an idealistic view where facilities don't matter then yeah, granted, it's the more desirable stadium but when it comes down to it The Walkers is the better 'stadium'.

Done it Kitchandro...

Goal Music? No.

I'm happy just for everyone to go mental with no music like at away games.

Stadium? Filbert Street.

Obviously because of my age, I only visited Filbert Street a few times. I would say it has more character though, and the club shouldn't have moved.

Appearance? Impressive.

Although I am not a fan of bowl-type grounds, I don't think our ground looks unimpressive or boring too much.

Stands? Variation.

Always prefer a variation of stands; ie. Barnsley, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool. Adds character and atmosphere IMO.

Distance? Too far away.

Would love the stands to be closer so we are "right on top of the players". Think it adds to an atmosphere.

Visited Filbo pleny of times, back in the day it was great but really the East stand and family enclosure with the corporate boxes above it as well as the old main stand it had seen its day the carling stand was an oddity when and didn't really serve a purpose. we should have developed Filbo or built the walkers in the mid late 90,s we pissed about and ended up going bust. How far would we have gone with MON at the walkers/kp thats the question.

Surprised at how close the vote for goal music is, thought no goal music would have smashed that. Not too surprised at filbert street/kp vote since a fair few fans will be around now who don't really have proper memories of Filbert Street.
