I spent 30 years going to Filbert St and loved it but voted KP although I think it's totally unimpressive.

I loved FIlbo for the success I witnessed there for the memories it provides and not so much the structure itself, you love it for the comfort it brings to mind just like a loved piece of worn out clothing. THE KP has provided none of that but I live in hope.

There's a lot of blinkered viewing re Filbert St, sure the atmosphere was good when we were successful over a sustained period of time but it was absolutely shit on many, many occasions. Many on here's experience of it revolves around the MON era so they have a very strong affection for it and people will remember the times when they were allowed to stand.

But I bet if we'd spent the best (worst) part of the last ten years there with no standing the crowds would have been significantly lower and the atmosphere would have been worse than it has been at the KP. Likewise if we'd have had the MON years at the KP I doubt many would be hankering back to Filbert St

The KPs not perfect by any means, the main part looks like some 80's office block and the distance from the pitch is not to my liking but it's enabled bigger gates, better views, and I sat/stood in every stand at Filbo.

What we desperately need to fall in love with the KP is a sustained period of success with virtually full houses, I guarantee the atmosphere would improve naturally without these incessant topics saying how bad it is or what can we do to improve it that combined with the memories that would be built up would bring a change of heart and people would love it even with all it's faults just like they currently do Filbo.

There is so much rose tinted nostalgia surrounding Filbert St. I was there when Pleat was manager averaging 12k and just avoiding relegation and the atmosphere was crap. Craning my neck around posts to see parts of the pitch, queuing through half time to get a piss.

The capacity at the end at Filbo was 21k we very rarely get less than that now and always average better. Without the extra income the new stadium gives us we'd be in the same position as Portsmouth or worse.

As for goal music, I really couldn't give a shit.

Couldn't agree more with this.

Although I do think there are quite a few fans on here who experienced the buzz of Filbert St pre Martin.

The atmosphere was generally pretty good under Brian Little too and I'm sure many can think back to that also.

I'm sure they can, there was no real break in the cycle of success between the Little and the MON eras but anyone who went during Pleat, McLintock and Hamilton managements will have experienced a different Filbert St certainly worse than much that we've witnessed at the KP

I'm sure you're right.. However my experience of Filbo starred with the Little tenure so I can't personally speak on anything that went before.

I agree with your general point which, I believe, is that a period of sustained success is the main reason for improvements in crowds and atmosphere.

Finally, my personal experience of being one of the Spion Kop 1 crowd was that the atmosphere in that particular part of the ground was much better because we were right next to the away fans.

...and that's my point the last years at Filbo were some of the best since the successful years of the 60s and the Bloomfield era and that's what many on here hark back too when judging Filbert St.

My experiences of Filbert Street were being in an executive box for a reserves match, and being in the stands for one Prem game against Everton which I believe finished 0-0.

So it would be bloody stupid for me to say that I "prefer" Filbert Street, because it was almost entirely before my time. This is one of the reasons that the new stadium moaners are so annoying - just because they weren't allowed to stay in their happy rut of the 90's doesn't mean that they should be giving up on the idea of creating a decent atmosphere at the KP and just sitting in the corner mumbling about "how much better it was in the pens at Filbo".

Keep fond memories yes. But don't be on a constant downer about the current situation because it just gets boring...

I think the stadium is great, view is wonderful, the event is great.

Shame that there are no standing areas nowadays and a shame that the atmosphere is no longer noisy and rowdy but that's down to society and not Leicester in particular.

I miss the "KIRBY and WEST" advert on the double decker behind the goal at that end.

Please can we have it back.

This.

Goal Music? No.

It's crap, celebrations are better when spontaneous and random than designed to match whatever crap they want to pump out on the PA sysyem as part of the "matchday experience"

Stadium? Filbert Street.

Only ever did a few of those reserve team things (FNF was it?), and no competitive matches, so I've actually experienced better atmospheres in Filbert Way but FW doesn't have the character and the history that Filbert Street had.

Appearance? Boring

It's St. Mary's with blue seats, which in turn is Pride(less) Park with red seats. They're all the same, flat pack and dull

Stands? Variation.

The boring bowls really suck the atmosphere out for some reason, variation please.

Distance? Too far away.

Atmosphere is always better when the fans are right on-top of the players. Also it adds potential for some great player-fan interaction in celebrations.

glad we moved from filbo, anyone remember away fans signing 'one stand! you've only got one stand?'

plus when they were in east stand chanting 'what the f******g hell is this?! pointing at the tiny stand they were in.

im pleased we moved on.

With regards to goal music I can take it or leave it.

As for the music before the match it is very poor and doesn't create any atmosphere. Most of it is too loud until you get to 'When You're Smiling' which you can't hear. I know a lot of people didn't like the piece we had before kick-off about 3 years ago but surely it was better than the current stuff.
