davieG Posted 3 March 2012 Posted 3 March 2012 Nigel Pearson said he is not ruling out strengthening his squad this month as Leicester City face a gruelling schedule. City entertain local rivals Coventry today (3.0) at the start of a crucial run of nine games in 28 days. Pearson said he may have to bring in new faces on loan to cover for injuries and suspensions. The return from injury of striker Jeff Schlupp has meant City have not tried to secure Aston Villa's Nathan Delfouneso for a second month's loan. City could also have Paul Gallagher back from a hamstring injury soon to bolster their numbers, but Pearson said he may look at the loan market if his side's play-off push is threatened by injuries. "With three weeks left of the loan window I am not ruling anything out," he said. "It is a case of we will see how the next week or so develops in terms of if we pick injuries up in key areas, or whether we feel we have enough cover, so I am fairly laid-back about that situation. "It would be naive to think we will go through such a run without picking up injuries or suspensions. We have to try to protect ourselves. "Nathan has gone back but we are grateful to Villa. I spoke to (manager) Alex McLeish last weekend and I am grateful for allowing us to bring him here. With Jeff coming back that is a bonus for us. "I am not going to say we are or not definitely going to do anything. "We need to continue our progress in terms of picking results up." Pearson said there may be opportunities for fringe players, but ruled out any suggestion of squad rotation as his side look to gain momentum during the final 14 games of the season. "We will see if the squad is big enough," he said. "Because of the number of games there may be opportunities for players who are not in the side to get a chance. "I am not talking about rotating the squad because it is about trying to win as many games as we can." Pearson said new recruit Corey Gregory would not feature in the first team. The 19-year-old midfielder has joined on a youth loan from Sheffield United.
Libertine Dream Posted 3 March 2012 Posted 3 March 2012 I can't say I'm bothered if we get loans or not, some really didn't help last year. However I was disappointed we didn't go for Huseklepp.
cc_star Posted 3 March 2012 Posted 3 March 2012 All good commonsense. Doesn't fit within 'promotion whatever the cost' this season though, which leads me to believe that part of NP's brief is not to repeat past mistakes of kamikaze management... Not that he would though
Cropwellfox Posted 3 March 2012 Posted 3 March 2012 Would have liked Liam Lawrence in - still a few decent players left at Pompey with one eye on next season
Happy Fox Posted 3 March 2012 Posted 3 March 2012 Futacs would be an ideal player can perform the target man role to perfection and would certainly help us in dealing with with hards CBs that the likes of Nugent and Beckford struggle with.
Happy Fox Posted 3 March 2012 Posted 3 March 2012 I also think NP will have an eye on Scotland and in particular Rangers, 11 players could be released up their and the likes of Sone Aluko, Steven Davis and Greg Wylde could become available.

Rangers won't be releasing assets like Davis who would command a good price on the transfer market.

flowwolf Posted 3 March 2012 Posted 3 March 2012 What he really means is lets see in a few weeks time if we have any chance of reaching the play offs, if not then we won't bother with loans.

leicesterisme Posted 3 March 2012 Posted 3 March 2012 Well if you are getting a 50% pay cut then you might want to leave, I suspect he may want to abandon the ever sinking ship. Yeah, he may want to leave but leaving to join a club 12th in the Championship is something I'm pretty sure he will not want to do when he can play higher.
Happy Fox Posted 3 March 2012 Posted 3 March 2012 Yeah, he may want to leave but leaving to join a club 12th in the Championship is something I'm pretty sure he will not want to do when he can play higher. Your probably right mate, but Sone Aluko or Greg Wylde would be options to consider.
Captain... Posted 3 March 2012 Posted 3 March 2012 I can't see any loans coming in, unless we have an option to sign them and they will improve the first team.
Guest parky0607 Posted 3 March 2012 Posted 3 March 2012 Your probably right mate, but Sone Aluko or Greg Wylde would be options to consider. His sister plays for England - useless fact but there you go.
Guest Posted 3 March 2012 Posted 3 March 2012 It seems so wrong that Rangers could decline to sell a player to us when we offered knowing that they'd be going nito administartion later in the season anyway.
Callabinho Posted 3 March 2012 Posted 3 March 2012 Hayden Mullins? back up? Scrap lawrence, he is at Cardiff now isn't he?
FoxyPV Posted 3 March 2012 Posted 3 March 2012 He always looks a very good player does Huseklepp. He scored today
HoustonFox Posted 3 March 2012 Posted 3 March 2012 Would have liked Liam Lawrence in - still a few decent players left at Pompey with one eye on next season Love this guy. He would be awesome down the right and always plays well against us.
Leicfox Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 Greg Wylde the Glasgow Rangers winger is now available on a free, Gregg volunteered to have his contract terminated and to waive the redundancy payment he would have been entitled to when Rangers went into administration in early 2012. Mervan Çelik has also done the same as above. Both are very good prospects.

Mervan Celik is a fantastic prospect, he is slightly better than Marshall in my opinion and he can play on the left so would give Dyer major competition, would be a cracking free signing we should definitely go for him, but I know we won't!
