I agree with your point about phobias. People use words like homophobia or Islamophobia far too often. It is possible just to disagree with something and not be scared of it. Also, a phobia is an irrational fear, and it is possible to be scared of something that really does pose a threat. For example, arachnophobia is the correct term when you're talking about harmless spiders in this country, but if you lived in a country with spiders that can kill you, then it is not a phobia. I disagree with "unnatural sexual practices". Do you think homosexuality is unnatural? That makes no sense.
