These people included non-whites. One came from the West Indies (Antgua) in the early 60's and was not of fan of immigration laws. I am not saying they were right but these are normal people who only get their information from newspapers or word of mouth. The conversation down the pub or at the bus stop. They see a headline that says asylum seekers are given housing then say something like my mothers been on the waiting list for five years band they are given priority. These people are not bad people and I would not say ignorant in intelligence way. Just misinformed and been around a long time. I have never been like that. If a controversial story came out I say there must be another side to it. One person used to complain about factories employing illegal immigrants. I said report them giving names etc. Their response was to say it would be a waste of time as they would be protected and nothing done. But I see how the EDL attract the thickest of society. I am glad I am not in their club.

I have no truck with the EDL and its wishes, but, following Voltaire, I defend their right to hold and express their views, even if they are offensive to me. Would I be considered racist or a member of the EDL if I took the following statement: How does that make a difference? It's what they stand for that is the issue. I know plenty of christians but still hate christianity. [Which I agree with, by the way] and changed it to: I know plenty of muslims but still hate islam [which I also agree with] Would this make people on here decry me as EDL? Presumably by mocking my grammar (which is not the same as winning an argument, by the way). Everyone, including the EDL and including the Islamists of Luton, should be allowed to hold and express their view peaceably and within the law. As long as there is no incitement to violence or law breaking, they should be allowed to hold and express their opinions. Even if they are moronic and even if "the majority" disagree with them.
