Bugger, Give em sunday and monday off, Tuesday take them to Oval Park to see players who do want to play for their team and this city. See if they can work out what passion and pride is then ask if anyone wants to dip their hands in their pockets to support the Birch's charity.

Try not joining in a conversation half way through, we're talking about next season.

I'll make my judgement on Pearson the same as I did on Sven. When he's had a pre-season and a chance to tweak the squad how he wants to.

I won't be calling for his head for not getting a group of players into the play offs that a) are mostly not his, and b) have never proved themselves capable of being a playoff team.

Ok. Then settle for ongoing mediocrity.

Thats your call.

I don't think its good enough.

People saying Watford are doing us a favour, they ain't far behind ourselves and could well finish above us with the form they are showing at the minute.

Well predicted!

Brighton and Middlesbrough is the big one for us, we need them draw and draw badly.

Results and by far and large they haven't been good enough ,personally I would get rid of NP now ( I am a NP hater no I not a Sven bummer, no I haven't come to this conclusion based on this result tbc we are underachieving and at the end of the day the manager is culpable is he not?), this squad of players should be good enough for a playoff place it isn't rocket science get some one in who can lead us to promotion.

I've read many of your posts and come to the conclusion that you are, in a general manner of speaking, rubbish.

Firstly, you rarely make sense. Grammatically, semantically etc. Secondly, NP haters come into two categories:

(a) Those who think Sven shouldn't have been fired, even though he had eight months more than Pearson, spent £15m more and failed to get better results out of this set of players.

(b) Those who feel, with this set of players, anything less than automatic promotion form is a failure; even though two consecutive managers have failed to achieve that with these players.

Both points of view share the common flaw that they assume our current set of players are decent. And it's very hard on this forum to criticise ANYBODY in the side - I've said on many occasions that the assumption that ANY of these players are good enough is deluded - but the hard truth is that they have failed repeatedly. They aren't good enough.

Your point of view, on the other hand, comes under neither banner. It's merely fickle and incoherent.

At last.

He should come with this post as a warning in his sig!

Stop being such a bloody arse. Nobody is settling for mediocrity, i'm not happy with where we are. But I understand very well that it can take more than 6 months and one January transfer window to turn things about.

You want rid, ok where do you go from here. Get another manager and then get rid of him if in 6 months he's not turned us in to potential title winners? How often does that tactic work?

I'm not advocating firing NP. But I'd rather we did it now than in 6 months after he's spent money and had a pre-season. Sven should not have been fired until the end of the season - he didn't have enough time to see his plan through. the players hadn't had enough time to gel etc...

when you've got to the point where the target is unreachable it's time to make the decision. If they aren't going to fire NP then he needs to be guaranteed until we have failed at the end of next season.

It's changing managers during the season which is wrong.

Now or not for a year.

You won't win Babylon, most people may agree to disagree, take points on board that others make, there are a few posters on here that don't, he is one of them.

Well we weren't at our slick-passing, free-scoring best, but we didn't need to be really. You started by getting stuck into us, which is definitely the right way to play us, but for some reason you stopped doing that second half and made it easy for us. I don't think your formation helped you.

Could have gone either way in truth but I suppose it comes down to taking your chances and your shooting was pretty diabolical.

What have you done to SSL? It pains me to say it but he was a decent player for us, now he's a right fat, lazy little f**k.

See you next season.

I'd keep Pearson if I'd seen anything in his time in charge that suggested he'd identified or thought about solving any of our problems/weaknesses.

If I had confidence in him, I'd advocate giving him time.. and further resources. I just think we might be better off going for someone else. I don't know who else.

I also think its needless and uncalled for to call me an arse, just because I disagree with you over NP.

Again I will point out that you say you believed in Sven when he did nothing of note also. Just doesn't make sense to me.

You got called an arse, not for your opinion on Pearson. But for suggesting I've settled for mediocrity because I don't agree with you.

Well for what its worth I respect you and your opinion and will take the high ground rather than resort to petty name calling.

That Matt is an arse though isn't he? Just a bit dumb.

Just out of curiosity, what did you make of Pearson's appointment at the time? As in...have you always thought it was a bad decision? Do you honestly think sacking him after 6 months is the best thing to do?

Posted

I don't know whether he's an arse. If he's saying that Pearson is the reason for our problems then - clearly and factually - he's wrong; if he thought Sven should have been given longer then he's wrong and a hypocrite! That much I know.

I think it'd be better to sack him now than 3 months into the new season. Have I said that before?

Well yeah. That's not even an option for me. It's either at the end of this season or the end of next. The end of this season would not even be slightly fair.

By that process of elimination he gets the whole of next season. Simple.

I really didn't know what I wanted beyond MO'N to come in, which was always fanciful.

I don't think NP was an awful manager, I just didn't think it would work with money and egos thrown in. I've not been proved correct - and won't be until he's had another transfer window and a bit more time, but I was reluctant about his appointment.

That said, he did make the right noises when he came back in.

On the whole, I wasn't gutted with the appointment, but did wonder if Sven might have put some bits right if he'd stayed. Sven got us playing football at times better than NP ever has. Sven had flaws though - and I think a lot of this was down to just not knowing the division. Whether that ever would have improved much, I don't know.

I'd love to see NP succeed but I think he's too focussed on the type of player he wants and that its not going to sit well with a board who want marquee signings, big names, marketable characters and instant success. Given long enough, NP would come good, but whether its scaleable, it arguable. If we got to the premier league, could he deal with the egos there? I really don't know.

If only everyone had the same opinions, such a shame

Wish I was always right like you :crylaugh:

I understand what you mean, but if the Thai owners are that worried about big names and marketable characters why did they appoint Pearson?

They obviously at the time felt that Nigel was right for the job, as I still do, they can't appoint someone and then do everything they can to make it difficult for him to do the job, everyone needs to pull together next year and support Nigel so I hope you are wrong about their motives.

I can agree to that. That's why I think it was wrong to sack Sven before the end of this campaign.
