shen Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 i did suggest left mid aswel u never know in football, Cobbo was a left back at his previous club, plays centre mid for fosse 133420 Clutching at straws here are we... And Callum Davidson played both those positions while at City
Tomassi Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 there u go then u can never tell in football remember steve walsh he was a defender before one training session he went up front and Brian Little decided what the hell il put him up front instead ''YES ITS IN.. WALSH HAS SCORED.. LEICESTER CITY ARE IN DREAMLAND NOW.. IS THAT THE TICKET THAT FINALLY TAKES THEM... TO HEAVEN''
Gené and Tonic Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 And you've formed that opinion of him from half a season?
marko Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 At least he is getting in the postions to have a crack, i'm sure they'll work on finishing drills in training
LoneWolf Posted 7 July 2005 Posted 7 July 2005 Hughes is a crap finisher. 133483 we will see.. last season he didnt exactly have the support from any where on the pitch, tbh with you i didnt see much happening last season, at the start i was really happy full of confidence, but when the managerial switch happened... i saw players as indivuals, like leveins players and mickys players... now that has gone i see them as a team ... that prob make no sense cos i am really tired but thats what i thought last season!!
Muz Posted 8 July 2005 Posted 8 July 2005 I would be very happy if he signs i can remember watching Livingston last season and he seemed a very confident player who was'nt scared to have a pop at goal , i think that's our problem sometimes , when midfield players get into a shooting oppurtunity they try to pick a pass out instead of having a pop at goal.
Burnsy Posted 8 July 2005 Posted 8 July 2005 Is he still an option http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.a...el=championship
Molson Canadian Posted 8 July 2005 Posted 8 July 2005 Is he still an optionhttp://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.a...el=championship 134657 i hope he still is i think he would be a great signing if we manage to get him. By signing him that would give CL lots of more options for different midfield postioning on the pitch and would allow for more options on the bench during a game

It seems odd, i've been told we've had talks with him recenetly and I thought perhaps we would bring him in as an alternative striker but Lovell's coming so i'm not sure what's happening with Burton.

Thracian Posted 8 July 2005 Posted 8 July 2005 I beleive that the more players we have in the squad, the better it is especially with the transfer window in place. We also need players to increase competition and a player like O'Brian (by what everyone is sayin here) could also help change the style of play during a match. When we need to be more attacking he could be a very versitle player for us. If he is free and doesnt hurt the wage budget then why shouldnt we sign him! 133034 Iffy ground there. Levein will know which Academy players are realistic back-up and it seems there are a few. Otherwise we just need a squad that's big enough. If you get too many talented players sitting around either on the bench or not involved at all you soon get discontent or you get changes made in matches just for the sake of keeping people sweet which is daft. I believe Levein will be keenly aware of this. Obviously he needs to allow for injuries, suspensions and so on as well as making sure he has adequate cover in every scenario. Seems like he's doing just that. With the squad already here, he can afford to be very selective now and so he should be. Can't see Craig as an autograph hunter like MA and PT. Thank God.

davieG Posted 8 July 2005 Posted 8 July 2005 Some competition for O'Brian - Sky Burton O'Brien seems set to move to England after seeing a switch to Hearts fall through. The former Blackburn man is on the lookout for a new club after seeing out his contract at Livingston. Hearts had set up a deal to sign the highly-rated midfielder prior to the arrival of George Burley at Tynecastle, but the proposal of the player undergoing a trial saw the deal collapse. Burley was hoping to have look at O'Brien before deciding to sign him, but O'Brien rejected the offer of a trial out of hand The player's agent John Seasman admitted the player was disappointed to see the move to Hearts fall through and revealed the midfielder was poised to move to England with three Championship clubs chasing his signature. "Burton O'Brien will not be joining Hearts now," Seasman told skysports.com "Terms had been agreed with Hearts for Burton before George Burley took charge, but they asked to have him on trial which Burton was not happy with. "Burton did not think it was wise professionally to go on trial as he could have picked up an injury which could have ruined a move to Hearts or elsewhere. "Burton is disappointed that things have fallen through with the move. "He was Livingston's player of the year and he feels disappointed that a player of calibre was asked to go on trial. Seasman also revealed O'Brien had rejected offers from Aberdeen and Dundee United to stay in Scotland and that he is now set to move to England. "Aberdeen and Dundee United were both interested in Burton, but he has decided not to go to either club," added Seasman. "He will probably move to England and three Championship clubs have made contact with me for him and he will move on with that." Leicester are thought to be one of the clubs keen on O'Brien after trying to sign the South African-born ace last January.
Lester LXXIV Posted 9 July 2005 Posted 9 July 2005 I've been on the SPL Forum and they are slagging our current signings, they think we're mad for signing sylla and douglas. Are they really that bad?? I was on the hunt for some gossip on O'Brian but not much mention to be fair.
Steven Posted 10 July 2005 Posted 10 July 2005 Burton O' Brien stallled on a trial with Hearts as he is hoping to move to Celtic in a swap seeing Fernandez returining to his former club.
supedaj Posted 11 July 2005 Posted 11 July 2005 indeed - does anyone know whether he is left footed or right? He could help out with left side in case tiatto suspended and wilcox injured ;o)
Steven Posted 11 July 2005 Posted 11 July 2005 has this link gone dead now? 136335 I think it is like this mythical LB, Gerrbrand and Lovell, it is all in a state of limbo.
