Edit: Getting back to the Fox, I used to like it then "Where's the money gone" came out and that was much better in my juvenile eyes, so I switched to WTMG, I was gutted when that stopped.

.

Now that was funny.

Used to buy it regularly at a shop on Tottenham Court Road that sold all the Fanzines and football related books. The shop shut down several years ago and I haven't bought a copy since.

Always thought it was a good read though

I can't remember it too well, but I do remember them one cartoon where Ormondroyd had the name hemorrhoid on the back of his shirt, and on the back of Coastworth's shirt there was just a willy puller sign, and Brian Little's team of Centrebacks.

That made me laugh when I was 14 but I am not sure it was the height of wit, I will try and dig them out when I am next in Leicester see if they were actually funny.

I've got a copy somewhere of the issue that won some national award. I always remember the Xmas TV guide with Radio Leicesters "good sex guide" Christmas romp with Neville Foulger and Geoff, get a life , Peters.

didn't O'Neill slam it though saying he had nothing to do with it. I was just trying to find proof of that, and I realised it was written by DJWanker, now I understand why he has lots in his garage. Is that true that O'Neill was unhappy with it, or I am getting that confused with something else?

He wasn't happy partly because, I later discovered, they were planning on doing their own book and I had inadvertently spiked their guns.

WTMG also did another pisstake of me which, in hindsight, was pretty funny.

...and Drop the Dead Donkey, the story of the Wolves manager telling Don Goodman he was no longer in the team.

(I can't remember the Wolves manager at the time, but I found that joke very funny)

I was just quoting, nothing personal.

Could you just settle an argument for me? Who did Neville Foulger actually support?

None taken ! Thick skin here, don't worry :)

I don't think has ever properly supported any team. When he was covering Cov he wanted them to do well and when covered Leicester he wanted them to do well.

If it was a Cov-Leicester final, unlikely I know, I think he'd want Leicester to win.

I'd completely forgotten about WTMG - was it named after the missing Paul Kitson transfer cash? Something like that but a long time ago!

Ditto. They got a bit personal though, there was a pi$stake feature called Ormondroyd's Wife that was essentially just a picture of a kangaroo.

It was borne out of pure frustration at all our rivals out-spending us and the Mercury coming up with headlines like "CITY BREAK BANK TO SIGN £360K MARK BLAKE" when Martin George & his board were sitting on their millions. Everyone was getting shiny stadiums, decent players and big kit deals and we had the bike shed East Stand, Gary Coatsworth and Fox Leisure, yet we were filling Filbo, getting 15K for reserve games and selling thousands of over-priced Fox Leisure shirts year after year. We sold players for decent money and never spent more than that 360K till we bought Draper for over a million in 1994.

Back on topic though, I still buy the Fox whenever I get down to games and even if it's not the cutting edge read some would prefer I'd rather give Gary the cash than the club. £3 for a programme is extortionate.

I seem to remember it looked very much like this one, although that is clearly a male.

I remember another cartoon they had with a banner saying "Welcome all the new boys", and a picture of Mark Blake sitting on his own surrounded by empty chairs, in reference to being promised cash to spend before the transfer deadline day.

...and he was crap.

I bought a copy last night on the strength of this thread. Not a bad read tbh although it didn't have anything in it that I couldn't find on the net. Good luck to them though, I hope it survives.

it's a good read, generally by one, the interviews are good. matter of fact just reading the Martin Allen interview from some years ago, gives a goo insight into the bloke.

by the way, gary's book, 'got not got' is a good read, great footy book full of nostalgia and weird facts, sort of book you pick up and read snatches

That's what made it so funny.

They ended up with more access to the players than the programme, remember a four page interview with Izzet and Lennon on the piss.

Wortho the Dog (he'll leave you a log) lol

Always worth buying if they have a decent main interviewee, hopefully will get more in the future. Surely it's not too hard in this age of Twitter to get in touch with someone and get them to commit to a telephone interview for half an hour or so?!
