brockmyster Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 Last few games when he's played as just a defender and cut down the flash stuff he's been fairly solid I've thought however he scares me with his flicks in dodgy places etc
Rand94 Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 He's been playing well at CB over the past few games, putting his body on the line to stop Burnley scoring but I think he's waste as a cm as he's defensive and can't shoot to save his life. Still I love to watch him play Sol sol bamba!
Grewks Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 He and Morgan stopped cole from playing today and totally outplaying him. The partnership looks to be getting stronger and stronger, Peltier was at fault for the first goal, whilst i believe St Ledgers poor header is what cost us the second. Yes, he wasnt great in midfield, but it is not his natural position. It would be the equivalent of playing wellens as a striker and Gally as a full back....would it work? no. But due to the injuries, and the fact that we did not want to change our shape as we were 1 nil up at the time, it was the sensible option to take, i doubt we could have done anything differently. IMO the scapegoat for today should have been ST Ledger, made a mistake just before their second and led to our players raging at him, and then he cost us for their goal. I for one would rather have bamba in our squad than face him on the opposition squad. He takes risks, but does have quality, he is still fairly young for a defender, and with NP as the ideal person to help him improve in his role, i believe we must keep him. He, morgan, schmeichel, drinkwater and marshall have really been the positives in our season tbh, five players with obvious quality and determination, further quality additions with similar players... such as.... sean murray - watford James Chester - hull Jamie Vardy - Fleetwood could see a return to the premier league within 2-3 seasons. We all want success now, but NP is a builder not a buyer and will IMO help our future chances of promotion. We have a fairly young squad, a division winning academy, wealthy owners who are determined to bring success and a young manager who lets not forget is still progressing and learning himself. The most successful era in our clubs history under O'neill would not have happened in modern football, there would be more fan outrage and he would likely be sacked, lets support the club, the players(the ones which want to be here), and the manager (he clearly wants to be here).
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 Will be gone and I won't miss him, did you see him messing about in our defence instead of just clearing it? Also from what I seen blamed Marshall because his pass was shocking and Marshall couldn't get it. We won't miss him, good profit IMO.
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Just ANOTHER of the 100 threads on abuse of a player. To my recognition thats Bamba, Gally, Wellens, King, Beckford, Mills, Peltier and Dyer that have been made scapegoats and we should sell them all.... If we sold players everytime they played poor we'd have about 4 players left. Get a grip folks!

Babylon Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 He was steady at the back, but Morgan stood out as far better and a much more reliable defender. He went into midfield to do what he did against Hull, try and stop them slicing through the light weight midfield which started when Wellens went off. Unfortunately he passed the ball to their player and they scored. At least those screaming for King, Wellens, Gallagher and Howard to leave got to see the team in action without them for most of the game.

Was shocked to see St Ledger getting praised by so many and Morgan hardly getting a mention. Glad I wasn't the only one who thought we look poorer for his return to the back line.

Typical of our fans! Must have a `scapegoat`!!! Doh! Anyway, i`m sure Pearson did not tell Top in his interview that he was a `builder` and he would take 2-3 years!! You can`t say that the O`neil era would not happen in modern football.... have you not seen Norwich, Swansea, Southampton or Reading play?? Seriously!! Also we have had a winning academy for years, doesnt mean they all make it at the top level. It`s time to get real!
Guest Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 great player who was moved into midfield because SSL couldn't play there. I was more disappointed with SSL - a play with a few minutes to go summed it up where he jogged back for a ball (with no-one else between him and goal) and a wham player ran past him and stole it.
Guest Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Come on FIF, stick up for him Sorry, I've only just come on line and decided to go General first where the posting is so much more fun.
Guest MattP Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 He's awful and it's great to see the laughable argument of how good he would be in midfield falling on its arse, the Hollywood pass out of play yesterday while we were 30 yards from goal was one of the funniest things I had seen all season. Get rid.

Guest MattP Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Who would you like to see replace him? Depends how much we are spending, obviously someone like James Chester would be fantastic, I like Morgan and think he could offer a lot, should get better as his fitness improves as well. A solid defender next to him. Basically a defender who actually does what he is supposed to do. Defend. I like a line of four as my defence, always have, when Bamba is in the team that hardly ever happens.

I always thought Michael Morrison was a decent defender for us but Sven didnt want him....
Happy Fox Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Mark Hudson for me one of the best CBs in this division experienced him and Morgan with St Ledger in reserve we will be fine, priority would be to get a firdt choice RB as much as Pelts has done okay he wasn't bought to be first choice.

Of course Sven didn't want Michael Morrison, he had a chequebook out to throw 20k a week to mercenaries like John Pantsil.

People go on about James Chester but no one EVER mentioned him before NP snapped him up for Hull. Now all of a sudden he's in demand, same as Cameron Stewart was.... Proof that NP CAN and WILL find good talent

Really don't think SSL will be happy with that or perhaps it was just promises from the former manager or maybe just the Euros driving him
Webbo Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 We all know Bamba isn't a midfielder but under the circumstances last night he had to fill in (he might have to on Saturday as well) but at least he tried to make things happen. When he ran at their midfield it was 1 of the few times we looked like we may achieve something.

Houdini Logic Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Was very happy when Bamba was put in midfield yesterday. Not sure if that's a compliment for Bamba or a comment on the rest of our players

If he got 2 seasons perhaps other choices so come on lets face it with Sven we would have place 6th just now
