It was also a mini tournament in Austria as they were training there pre-season I think. Whilst I agree they were probably a good experience, I thought it was daft to have that many foreign glamour ties, it's not exactly easy for fans to access, I'm not saying we should base our pre-season on that but I think even from a footballing perspective, it didn't do us many favours getting battered by Valencia. As glamorous as it looks, games at Chesterfield and Oldham would've benefited the team more IMO. I'd have loved to have gone but... prefer the usual pre-season if I'm honest. It was a real experience, my lads loved it and we ended up having our photo took and put on the website and used on the big screens for most of the season. When you have young lads and you are trying to teach them what is right (supporting your local team NOT Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool etc), experiences like that help. I like pre season, we have been a variety of places in previous seasons like Darlington, Hinckley, Macclesfield, Scunthorpe and Chesterfield.
