Leicester Riders are in the BBL play off final today live on Sky Sports 3 against Newcastle.

If I can remember Riders used to be pretty rubbish, but now they are coming up in the world and have a chance to claim glory.

So if anybody wants to watch the Basketball final Sky Sports 3 is the place from 3.30.

Two big games for our City today, along with Tigers aswell, hopefully both will win.

Newcastle Eagles Beat Leicester Riders To Claim The BBL Play Off Title

Newcastle Eagles have won a clean sweep in British basketball.

They won their fourth trophy of the season by beating Leicester Riders 71-62 in the BBL Play Off Final.

In a tense match the Riders had a 21-12 lead by the end of the first quarter.

The Eagles brought it back to 31-31 by half time and had got in front 56-49.

Missed free throws from the Riders and an excellent performance from Paul Gause for the Eagles were key.

Player coach Fabulous Flournoy was so committed that he ended up hurdling the Leicester bench late in the game as he tried to keep the ball alive.

And the Eagles commitment paid off as they claimed the BBL play Off title.

The coach and a player was on Radio Leicester tonight. I wouldn't mind going down one week or two but never get tound to it. Thought they played in Loughborough but it Braunstone gate somewhere. Will check later.

They were saying that in a game they lost they had a match the night before at 10pm then had to travel for a game the next day at 3pm. Footballers have it easy don't they? It's cheap as well and a good atmosphere. They said the opposition seem scared before the start. Also the players interact with the crowd and let the kids take shots. Seems a good night out.

They play at the DMU John Sandford Centre whch is next door to their new leisure centre which stands on the site of the demolished Bowstring Bridge

I think I know it. Near the park and canal? Printed a map page off. What time does it finish? I know it starts at 7.30 with periods of 20 minutes. Wondering about breaks. I've been meaning to go for ages. Are they playing at home Saturday?

OK I googled. Sheffield away. Will have to be the week after.

Leicester Riders are storming the league I see again this season, along with Sheffield if the Mercury is correct.

But by god is the standard woeful, didn't a team score like 40-50 pts against us a couple of weeks back, that is well and truly awful Basketball.

Just heard on RL that they played last night and won. Return leg tonight in Leicester. With City being later kick off won't be able to go now.

According to the fixture list they were not plsaying tonight.

Steve 'the chair' O'shea

Barry John..

Paul 'the cat' James.

We had a canadian for a season too... Dan Magher ( sp!?)

Their main rivals were Kingston and they had the best player in the league Steve Bontrager ( sp!?) Hwe came to sit behind the net one game and their were rumours going around he wanted to sign for us.... so i just went up to him and asked him and he said " sure... if they pay me the money i'll come play" I got so excited but it never happened of course....

Those were the days!

There is a chance I may cover some matches. Well another bloke with DNO says he would like to too. We need to contact them and find out if they are willing to talk about any work they do in the community.. Would love to do it with other local sports too. I think I could manage that. Somebody we is going to give us contact details for the Riders.

Have they found a new venue yet? It's a pity that they do not have one as they are starting to come good.
