Libertine Dream Posted 26 May 2012 Posted 26 May 2012 One of the worst eurovision's I've ever seen, Enkle's song wasn't the best but didn't deserve to be second from bottom, but asking a 76 year old to sing in the eurovision is simply stupid. Sweden who won, song wasn't bad but didn't deserve to win. Also how did Norway come bottom there song wasn't bad! Its mostly politics, if we sent Adele we'd still struggle as nobody likes us. Sweden were the best and deservedly won but the rest was just neighbour/Russia love in.
Guest Posted 27 May 2012 Posted 27 May 2012 Sad day for Leicester - losing the Rugby final and Engle finishing with only 12pts but even worse for Norway - defeat to England and bottom of Eurovision. Below Jedwood must be a disaster
Leicester_Numan Posted 27 May 2012 Posted 27 May 2012 We weren't last so we did better than expected. I really don't know why we bother with it anymore. It's just one big game of political kiss-ass.

Leicester_Numan Posted 27 May 2012 Posted 27 May 2012 That was probably down to people betting on it and voting for it. The political votes come in with countries always voting for their neighbours or not if they're trying to make a point. It's less political now than it was because of the public voting, but it still happens.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 27 May 2012 Posted 27 May 2012 Just saw 'highlights' of Engelbert's performance and he was so out of tune it was embarrassing. Surely somewhere in the UK there must be some sorry sap desperate for moderate fame who actually has a half decent voice we could have sent instead?

It's less political now than it was because of the public voting, but it still happens. It should be done without knowing which country's song is which, apart from your own country's obviously. All song would be sung in English or French. And that's all you get, 42 songs by 42 different artist and you vote for your favourite (not including your own country). Obviously no artist would be allowed to return in later years, because this would give a clue to the nationality. Doing this would stop the likes of Berarus giving Russia 12 points every year without fail. Or Cyprus giving 12 points to Greece etc.
Leicester_Numan Posted 27 May 2012 Posted 27 May 2012 You can bet the information would be leaked to the media. Probably by politicians
Jimothy Posted 27 May 2012 Posted 27 May 2012 You can bet the information would be leaked to the media. Probably by politicians True, but then they should be banned from competing. I know people will say it's only a stupid song contest, and it is I only watched the results last night not the while thing I'm not a fan, but it cost a vast amount of money to host and the whole production and broadcast won't be cheap either. So expensive is it to host that Greece and Spain were shitting themselves last night that they might win, because they can't afford to host it. If they are to persist with it, they might as well do it properly and give everyone a chance to win the competition. If it's a song contest, make it about songs, not political love ins.
I am Rod Hull Posted 27 May 2012 Posted 27 May 2012 We need to send Terry next year, we`ll wipe the floor with them all.
Rincewind Posted 27 May 2012 Posted 27 May 2012 I was wondering why they needed all the acrobats in some of them. Basically they were voting on the act rather than the song. May as well call it Europes got Talent.
BlueSi13 Posted 27 May 2012 Posted 27 May 2012 Hugely disappointed for the hump, very sweet song and he performed it brilliantly in my opinion. Second worse song on the night? Not a chance. People are commenting that Paul McCartney could have got up on stage and sung "Yesterday" and still have come in the bottom 10. Im not so sure myself, but its a huge dampener to have the usual suspects voting for each other every year, but its seems us and the French (and often the Germans) usually have a real bad time of it, and we put the most into the competition financially. Whether we make an effort or not, it usually ends the same way. Value for money?
21st Century Fox Posted 27 May 2012 Posted 27 May 2012 We would've got further if he'd busted out this classic....
MPH Posted 27 May 2012 Posted 27 May 2012 Its very political. UK's high finishing ended when Tonyy Blair went against UN/EU adivce and 'invaded' Iraq. Thats the link i make anyway. No one in Europe likes us.
Rincewind Posted 27 May 2012 Posted 27 May 2012 Tony's Blair fault then. Well why not, he's to blame for everything else.
ozleicester Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 Eurovision rocks! Cracking show this year, some great tunes... I challenge you to not tap along to the Russian Grannies. You know your old when you ACTUALLY enjoy eurovision, get ready for it folks....one day in the future youll be sitting in your lounge tapping along to the latest ditty from FYR Macedonia thinking... "you know what, OZ was right, i am fvcking old... but i hope this one wins it"
Captain... Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 I've had this song stuck in my head all day, I've only just twigged what it was, it was Greece's entry at Eurovision. How weird is that, "La, la, la, love" I think it was called.
