marbelladave Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 Great save. Knee high challenge at the other end on a Greek player and he's not booked. Ref with really start to favour Poland now. The ref has been much better second half, embarrassing first half, just a regular 'homer', second.

Kitchandro Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 Andy Townsends sweeping statement, 'are these the worst two teams in this competetion?' I know it's hard to tell them apart as they are both retards but it's Mark Bright

MC Prussian Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 Why Sczeszny is still getting the nod ahead of Tyton or Boruc is beyond me. That guy drops clangers way too often and he's a constant liability (as demonstrated several times whilst playing for Arsenal).
Father Ted Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 Kyriakos Papadopolous at centre back when he came on for Greece made the difference, had Lewandowski in his pocket, very promising player!

Asha Posted 8 June 2012 Author Posted 8 June 2012 Crazy first game, with so many talking points. Firstly, fantastic goal from Lewandowski but it was all about the ball from Kuba. Absolutely fantastic. From that point onwards Poland should have made it secure with several other chances, which looking back ultimately proved costly. Of course the first yellow for Sokratis was debatable, but I think the second could have been a red on its' own. If he hadn't brought down Rafał Murawski, he was clean through on goal at that point. When he sees the Greek goal again, I'm sure Szczęsny will think he could have done better, but he wasn't helped by the lack of reaction from any player in white either. And with the penalty, what was he supposed to do? The defense let the player slip through and he had to try and win the ball. Przemysław Tytoń is without doubt the hero of the game because he salvaged a point for Poland. Without this draw, with Russia and the Czechs to come I think we could have safely said Poland's chances of progressing were limited, so it's a vital and fantastic save. And I'm fvcking chuffed that Karagounis missed it because he's a right dirty little bastard Running up to the penalty was the only time I think I saw him on his feet. And why were the Greeks playing out time at the end? Surely, with the impotus they had second half, there was more for them to gain by trying to attack, by that stage, a tired Polish team. Bemusing tactics.

Bemusing tactics. Agree with almost everything here. But am I the only one who thinks Czech republic are fairly shite? Apart from Cech and Rosicky they don't have anyone and I can't see them repeating what they did at EURO 04.

Jaspa Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 Ricardo isn't in the Portugal squad But the BBC showed a clip of him in the 'Group of Death' montage thingy Just switched to ITV and I'm already cringing
shen Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 But he didn't bring him down, the guy stumbled and fell into him His hand was clearly on Murawski's back, but I agree that Murawski didn't look like he was staying on his feet either way...
