As Cook is surely the better choice for sporting reasons, is this racism to select the asian lad to make a more diverse team?
Super_horns Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 Its all about the fact Cook didn't train with the rest of the Olympic team it seems..all rather petty.
RedHux Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 How is it people over the age of 10 need racism explaining to them?
Corky Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 http://www.dailymail...dream-over.html White UK no. 1 Aaron Cook not selected, instead an asian called 'Mohammed' is chosen. As Cook is surely the better choice for sporting reasons, is this racism to select the asian lad to make a more diverse team? This is purely down to where Cook has been training.
Guest Bilo Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 Even the bloody dogs are at it now, look! Bloody dogs. Hold on, is that specieist? We need a poll.
FoxyPV Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/olympics/article-2156520/London-2012-Olympics-Aaron-Cooks-dream-over.html White UK no. 1 Aaron Cook not selected, instead an asian called 'Mohammed' is chosen. They claimed that due to the manner in which head shots were scored the person they selected would do better and had future potential. The BOA would not put diversity above getting medals. Thisis just administrators throwing their toys out of the pram.
nigel Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 its not racist as the article explains why cook wasn't selected.. Its a stupid decision seeing as though he is the world number 1 though

nigel Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 ...........and the fact that Mohammed's coach was on the selection commitee! Thats gonna help his case a bit... Why do people have to throw the race card in to everything these days??
Fox in the North Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 Wish I knew the criteria and understood taekwondo. It seems weird to overlook a world number 1 for a man ranked many places below especially when the number 1 has been evidently more successful.
Captain... Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 It does seem a stupid decision, but it's not racist, like leaving out Ferdinand wasn't racist, just stupid stubborn pride. It seems easy to settle, put them on the mat, score it on BOA rules, see who wins.
Daggers Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 In my opinion, yes. Fortunately it doesn't count. Next...
Head Honcho Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 Thats gonna help his case a bit... Why do people have to throw the race card in to everything these days?? I know, I had no idea Mohammed was even black until this thread appeared!
Guest MattP Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 Not sure on racism but its certainly ****ing ridiculous at the least looking at the performance of the two. How on earth a competitors Dad can end on a selection comittee is down right pathetic though. Hope he takes legal action and gets this nonsense overturned. Not like its another Haroon Khan is it?

It does say his form has been shit since he stopped training with the rest of the olympic team though, doesn't it? Or did I misread that? I must admit I was skim-reading just to see if anything even vaguely race related popped up. Unsurprisingly it did not.

It takes me two days of arse clenching indecision to pluck up the courage to click on it, only to find it's pretty much what I suspected.
