Bamba Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 He started out brightly, only to fade away with time progressing. Erratic, always switching between genius and failure. Still a cult hero for some fans, particularly thanks to that goal against Manchester City in the cup. we loved his "genius" side so far, hope he keeps it that way.
Kitchandro Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 Amazing on his day, shocking on others. In the early part of last season he was by far our best defender, but by the end he'd made too many mistakes. Would have been happy to keep him but I can see why we got rid.
Deucalion Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 Best of luck to Sol and Trabzonspor. It'll make my mate Metin happy anyway!
Bamba Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 A good player and a great character. You're lucky to have him. yes, we really are. Trabzonspor have conceded just 3 goals this season, fewer than any other club. We have two great goalkeepers (Tolga Zengin, Onur Kıvrak) and one Bamba.
Rich Fox Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 yes, we really are. Trabzonspor have conceded just 3 goals this season, fewer than any other club. We have two great goalkeepers (Tolga Zengin, Onur Kıvrak) and one Bamba. Really hope Sol does well in Turkey. Maybe he is suited to you league more than the English Championship? He seemed a very decent lad when I met him and has plenty of ability, shame it never worked out here but we all move on, good luck Sol.
Steve Agnew Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 Sol was always a liability from day one, forever costing us goals at the back. For example like that time........... oh my memory fails me just at this minute. But I do know that he cost us countless goals, and anyway he was never good enough for Leicester. He was never the same after playing for in that Africa Cup of Nations Final. I think he must have found his level at that final, because he would have never cut it for us in the Championship. Best thing Nigel did was to get rid of him. I think it was great business to get rid of him for 700k too. Going rate for a centre back of his quality in Europe should have been more like 6-7k. Player of the month means absolutely nothing, just wait he'll soon become a liability costing you all manner of goals. You'll be lumbered with a useless player soon enough. And what's more his positioning will be so awful that the rest of the team will be so busy trying to make up for his mistakes that they will eventually become shite too.
Tielemans63 Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 He is simply the best player of Trabzonspor so far this season. Today actually, he got the "player of the month" award. I don't know what you think but he is a great defender and Trabzonspor fans are all crazy about him You'll be delighted to hear that I'm the proud owner of a Tranzonspor shirt - I bought it on holiday this season as a tribute to the most unpredictable player in recent LCFC history. Glad Sol is doing well.

Hope I'll not complain about him. I really hope.. Thanks all for your responses. Best regards from Turkiye.
Deucalion Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 Was just wondering whether Sol was playing in defence or midfield? Trabzonspor in need of a defensive midfielder?

Glad Sol is doing well. That's great to hear. Sol is doing really well and hope he'll be better.
Bamba Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 Was just wondering whether Sol was playing in defence or midfield? Trabzonspor in need of a defensive midfielder? Defence. He is playing at the centre back position. We have Didier Zokora as defensive midfielder and he's doing well also.
Corky Posted 5 October 2012 Posted 5 October 2012 Good luck to him. We've both moved on and forward it seems.
Guest seanfox778 Posted 6 October 2012 Posted 6 October 2012 yes, we really are. Trabzonspor have conceded just 3 goals this season, fewer than any other club. We have two great goalkeepers (Tolga Zengin, Onur Kıvrak) and one Bamba. I didn't realise you could play 2 goalkeepers at a time in the Turkish league, conceding only 3 goals seems less impressive now
desertfox86 Posted 6 October 2012 Posted 6 October 2012 Have a few Hibs mates and remember when he joined us raving about him to themn it surpised me at the time why they didn't seem that dissapointed he had left. They said I would see after a year. How true that is now. Starts very well then fades a bit. Thing is he is probably 80 per cent of the way of being a real top class defender. Still seems a good move for him and us, especially with Morgan being an absolute rock at the moment. Think he would look a lot better if he had 3 top defenders and a great keeper with him as he would get away with a lot of his mistakes and his good attributes would shine through. Everyone seems to wish him well in Turkey both from us and Hibs so Top bloke and left both clubs on good terms. A new teams results to check for sure. Best of luck Sol.
Deucalion Posted 6 October 2012 Posted 6 October 2012 Defence. He is playing at the centre back position. We have Didier Zokora as defensive midfielder and he's doing well also. I liked him better as a defensive midfielder to be honest. Last season against Hull we were down to 10 men and Bamba played as DM. Virtually nothing got through for our back four to have to deal with. He could make those forward runs he likes to make too from midfield. Good luck!
foxoffderby Posted 6 October 2012 Posted 6 October 2012 Love NP but selling Bamba was a mistake. And yes he should of been used in midfield more.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 6 October 2012 Posted 6 October 2012 Love NP but selling Bamba was a mistake. And yes he should of been used in midfield more. Well I remember him saying he doesn't like playing in midfield..
foxoffderby Posted 6 October 2012 Posted 6 October 2012 Well I remember him saying he doesn't like playing in midfield.. Wheather he liked it or not he wasn't bad in that role.
Guest Col city fan Posted 6 October 2012 Posted 6 October 2012 I said in the summer I thought Morgan and Bamba would make the best centre back pairing we had. I reckon they would have been superb at this level. Still, no point crying over spilt milk.
ealingfox Posted 6 October 2012 Posted 6 October 2012 Wes Morgan is the lovechild of Bamba and Steve Walsh.
Libertine Dream Posted 6 October 2012 Posted 6 October 2012 Im wish he'd stayed but would never have him in midfield. His passing was poor and it would completely ruin our style at the moment.
Father Ted Posted 6 October 2012 Posted 6 October 2012 Just remembered he used to play for us. Thank fvck hes gone, neither Morgan or St Ledger could play with the clown.
Guest Posted 6 October 2012 Posted 6 October 2012 Sol was a fantastic player for us. Strange that over half of the fans of this forum never saw that. Glad he's doinf well in Turkey. Simply the best all round center back we've had in years. Morgan is excellent but he doesn't have the mobility, skill or attacking capability of Sol. It was a bad sale on behalf of NP but every manager makes a few mistakes.

Yeah, he was a quality defender, an quality defenders can't form partnerships with anyone they play with, leave huge gaps in the defence, get torn a new arsehole by Daniel Sturridge, and are constantly out of position. Yeah quality.. Hence why we have the 2nd best defence in the league.
