I love a lot of female singers and female groups from the 60s. You're post above Webbo, Shangri-La's and The Crystals, wonderful. Ronettes, Dusty Springfield, Janis Joplin - brilliant!

Certainly was a golden age for girl groups.

There is room in this world, though, for Ike & Tina's soul, mad Phil Spector's wall of sound (though not his shooting people) - and for the Dubs and their vast range of boozy humour (here), passion, poetry, melancholy and beauty (other songs).

+1 for the great song, but may eternal shame be upon you for your disgraceful comments about my bearded friends. :D

They were on about year 14 of a marathon booze-up (with excellent musical interludes), Buce. :thumbup:

That bit about the police with flashlights breaking up young couples in the Cochran "Weekend" clip reminded me of a story of my Dad's.

 

When he was young (1940s) in rural Ireland, the priests would come out after dark, using sticks to break up any courting couples who were getting too close or sneaking off into the bushes. lol
