Guest Col city fan Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Which of the Academy players do people think may make the breakthrough this season if any? Have any yet gone out on loan? Does the introduction of Marshall and James effectively rule out any of our 'homegrown' lads coming through? Who do you think may or should appear and why? Opinions please...
Happy Fox Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Only in the cup games can I see them featuring, priority has to be promotion so the young players unless they are extremely talented aren't going to feature imo, Schlupp is being heavily linked with a loan move to Sheffield Utd.
rico Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Would like to see Hopper given a chance this season, looked promising when he came on against Swindon in the cup
Asherz Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Schlupp needs pitch time and i dont mean last 10 mins for us he needs first team games week in week out he will learn alot more!! Look what alex ferguson does with his young talented ones back in the day with the likes of beckham and co loaned them to p.n.e or anderlect . Aint gonna learn owt sitting on the bench
foxfanazer Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 I think Liam Moore will have the best chance of Breaking through along with Schlupp maybe. Less competition for places at right back so I'd expect to see him on the bench quite often. Unfortunately for Schlupp there are a few strikers above him in the pecking order
Out Foxed Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Moore. Looks rock solid. he looked a bit fat the last few years. looks like he's leaned out/put on muscle. could be a big year for him.
dakin_fox Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Would like to see hopper play a few games but can't seeing him playing in the league with the stikers we have at the moment

Aint gonna learn owt sitting on the bench So we should send him out on loan. He's nowhere near good enough to be challenging for a first team spot here - Becks, Nugent, Vardy, Futacs and Waghorn are all ahead of him in the pecking order at the minute IMO Get him on loan at Sheff U and let him get a full season under his belt.
demon_dog Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 My brother took me to see this back in 1961. :w00t:
Milton Keynes Fox Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Wouldn't mind playing them two centre back lads in cup games and stuff, i can't remember which one is better but they've had good ratings for academy players!
marty78 Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 I think opportunities will be very limited for the youngsters this year and doubt any of them will make much of an impact, including Schlupp. I think the squad looks to have a bit more depth up front and unless we are going to play a 433 formation I can't see Schlupp getting much football at all. I think if we did play 4-3-3 then we probably wouldn't need to worry about a left winger as Dyer, Marshall and Vardy should all be comfortable wide left and Schlupp or Nugent could do a job as well. I think if we are playing 4-4-2 Schlupp may as well go on loan. I think the fact that De Laet can play anywhere along the back four may keep out the young defenders.
LCFC FOX Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 If we didn't have all this money I think a lot would be in the first team now. But Hopper , Schlupp , Moore , Bolger I think will play this season.
Raw Dykes Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 I think Moore's the most likely to break through this season. Peltier could be leaving soon, which would leave us with only six senior defenders. If Peltier is sold, maybe Moore and another young defender, like Bolger, Parkes or Taft could get a chance. I agree with people saying it would be best for Schlupp if he went out on loan, that is if we still have five senior strikers at the start of the season. If Beckford is sold and we don't replace him, then Schlupp might get his chance. I can't see many opportunities for the rest, really, unless there's an injury crisis at any point. I don't think the squad is far from being complete.
Leicester_Numan Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 I'd like to see Moore get a chance this season but it'll more than likely down to injury or suspension than being first choice. Can't really see Schlupp, Hopper & Panayiotou getting much of a chance, better to loan them out for experience. Can't really see any midfielders coming through this season. Maybe the youngsters will be kept in the squad at centre back if they impress in the rest of the friendlies. That'll save some cash as well. Looks like a large injury list will be our academy players most realistic chance this season
Zingari Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 My brother took me to see this back in 1961. :w00t: Cliffy has hardly changed a bit since then
FoxKing10 Posted 29 July 2012 Posted 29 July 2012 I wonder if that Panayoto kid will get another go........ think he deserves ^ (however you spell it )
