Zingari Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 I'd have thought Jimmy Walsh would have been captain , Appleton took over from him afterwards

Happy days!!!
Uncle Phil Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 The first game I remember is the play off final against Derby, I had been to Filbert Street before this but I have no idea who we played or any memories of the games. Ward Coatsworth Grayson Carey Willis Whitlow Blake Gibson Walsh Roberts Ormondroyd
Deucalion Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 Mine was at home to Sheffield Wednesday in 1990. I hadn't took much interest in football but I was asked to go by some friends at work. The game finished 4-2 to Wednesday and the away fans had two sides of Filbert Street. I don't know why I went again but I did! I cannot remember the lineup exactly but it must've been something like this: GK - Martin Hodge RB - the great Gary Mills LB - the atrocious Tony Spearing CB - the legendary Tony James CB - Alan Paris LW - Ohhhh Tommy Wright RW - Paul Ramsey? CM - Ali Mauchlin CM - Paul Reid ST - David Kelly ST - David Oldfield No wonder we struggled.

Season 1960-61 BANKS CHALMERS NORMAN MCLINTOCK KING APPLETON (captain) RILEY WALSH LEEK KEYWORTH CHEESEBOROUGH Those were the days! I saw all of them play so mine must have been about the same time all I can remember it was against a team in red/white stripes and one of their players scored with an overhead kick from just inside the penalty are.
marty78 Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 23rd February 1994 - Leicester City 1 Tranmere Rovers 1 A week after my 16th birthday my mate and his dad took me along. Although I played and followed football I had never supported a team other than my local non-league side and my mate still takes credit for turning me into a City fan. Couldn't remember the team but checked and it was: Gavin Ward Mike Whitlow Brian Carey Neil Lewis Gary Coatsworth Simon Grayson Gary Mills David Oldfield Ian Ormandroyd Iwan Roberts David Speedie Julien Joachim came on a sub for Gary Mills

cc_star Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 Leicester 2-0 QPR in 1981... Was a school trip, haven't got a clue who played. My dad took me a lot after that. First game I went by myself with my friends was Leicester 2-1 Everton in Zenith Data Systems Cup in 1991, Colin Gibson, Ali Mauchlin & co, had a season ticket from then on, until past couple of years.
hbkkids Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 When was the game we lost in the FA cup 3 mins before penalties?
Guest Bilo Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 First game I remember watching on telly was the 1992 play-off final against Blackburn. Think I went to the opening game of the 92-93 season against Peterborough as well in the Double Decker. The first game I have really vivid memories of was in the Kop against Luton for THAT Coatsworth goal. Date: 12th February 1994 Gavin Ward Simon Grayson Brian Carey Mike Whitlow Gary Mills Neil Lewis Steve Thompson Gary Coatsworth David Speedie Iwan Roberts And an Ian Ormondroyd. 2-1 win.
AdamN Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 The earliest one I can remember: Leicester 2-3 Crystal Palace, 28th October 1995 Kevin Poole Colin Hill Mike Whitlow Franck Rolling Brian Carey Simon Grayson Garry Parker Scott Taylor Mark Blake Iwan Roberts David Lowe

Season 1960-61 BANKS CHALMERS NORMAN MCLINTOCK KING APPLETON (captain) RILEY WALSH LEEK KEYWORTH CHEESEBOROUGH Those were the days! I saw all those too, as a lad in the popular side (admission 9d). 2-3-5 formation! Those were indeed the days.

Me and my lad turned to each other as the half time whistle went (we were already 3-0 down) and both said "relegation". It's not often my football predictions turn out to be correct; this was unfortunately one of the few times. What an awful introduction for you. Surprised you stayed with it.

That was 1980. I remember that game because Dennis Rofe scored an absolute screamer from about 35 yards at the kop end. Dennis Rofe lived directly across the road from me at the time........& was a thoroughly decent bloke!!
NorthernFox Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 First one for me was Bury in the 4th Round of the FA Cup, 24th January 1976. The team was as follows: 1 Wallington 2 Whitworth 3 Rofe 4 Kember 5 Blockley 6 Woolett 7 Weller 8 Alderson 9 Garland 10 Lee 11 Worthington We won 1-0. Bob Lee with the winner. 27,331 attended. It was a Fever Pitch moment. I was hooked for ever.
Langley Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 Leicester City v Portsmouth, 29 August 1992 Score 1-0 to Leicester City Competition League Division 1 Attendance 14,780 Starting lineup: Goalkeeper Carl Muggleton Defender Colin Hill Defender Mike Whitlow Defender/Centre back Steve Walsh Defender/Centre back Richard Smith Midfielder Steve Thompson Midfielder Gary Mills Midfielder/Forward David Oldfield Forward Ian Ormondroyd Forward Phil Gee Forward Bobby Davison Apparently this was my first game. Being 3 I can't remember much of it. Honestly cannot remember my first game. When I started going at that age, they all blur into one.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 First game I went to was Reading away in the FA cup in 2005. Starting 11: Ian Walker Alan Maybury Nikos Dabizas Matt Heath Danny Tiatto Jordan Stewart Gareth Williams Joey Gudjonsson Keith Gillespie David Connolly James Scowcroft Subs: Dion Dublin Lilian Nalis Mark de Vries (think this was his first appearance for us) Won 2-1 in the last minute, scorers were Williams and Scowcroft in injury time! Found a link to the game on YouTube here (not great quality though!)
