He does come out with some ridiculous things, there was one recently comparing McDonalds to something or other too.

However, he's still one of the best frontmen and lyricists of all time. And he's hardly always desperate for attention is he? How often do you see him spouting bollocks on chat shows like most? But yes, he can be quite the tit at times

Yeah it was something about that Norwegian mass murder by Anders Breivik which he says is not as bad as what McDonalds and KFC do every day.

That's the one, naming an album 'Meat is Murder' just didn't seem to be enough to get his message over.

Can't abide the man or his woeful dour songs, but I have to say, on the olympic coverage, he has a point. I did find some of the sycophantic, fawning commentaries a bit too much to bear, particularly from that supercilious nobody that is Claire Balding

No I haven't but with a few exceptions I find them depressing. I do realise they are meant to be social commentaries in some cases and a reflection of his mood at the injustice he sees and some are quite lively and positive. But generally, I'm not a fan, sorry. In any case I was referring to the songs of his that ARE woeful and dour.

He would love it...the last thing morrissey would want is everyone agreeing or liking him..if he cared about that then he wouldnt realease the albums he does or say the things he does.....just the way he is and has been since he first became 'famous'.

To be fair I knew nothing of this chap before this thread and the more I read about him, the more he looks every bit like the left wing superhero. Hates corporations, has some kind of hard-on for animals, doesn't like celebrating differences... I thought most of this forum would be bumming him hard.

No he wins when shit loads of people pay to watch him or proclaim him to be a lyrical genius. If he thinks he wins by being thought of as a dick then he is an even bigger dick.

Nah..

Possibly one of the greatest lyricists of my generation and the Smiths were simply my favourite ever band.

Live, Morrissey was fantastic.
