Guest Bilo Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 There are Morrisons than ever to avoid this thread.
BoneDog Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 for his wooden chopper? Well I was thinking it was more for asparagus and carrots and such like, but I suppose if he's a bit kinky then he may occasionally get naked and whop his hot Jamie balls and hard shaft onto the board, walk into the living room and shout, "LUNCHBOXXXXXX. Get your laughin' gear round this Julie my love. Afterwards I'm gonna stick it reet in your oven you slaaaaaaaaaag". The saucy barstad.
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 couldn't think of a Nisa way of saying it.. Stop!! Are you guys 'sparring' with each other again ..
Bellend Sebastian Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Sorry to break the puntastic vibe. There is a shite and he never goes out. Cannot remember where I heard that but it did make me laugh
Rocket-Ron Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 I bet he's at home pissing himself over foxestalk right now. Hello Moz
jonthefox Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 I bet he's at home pissing himself over foxestalk right now. Hello Moz Yeah hello mozza. Thanks for cheering us all up. Dick.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 It's inevitable that I would at some point just start posting Morrissey videos, and that point has now been reached. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ply-5zCjFc4
MPH Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 He just seems like an insecure little turd who is clinging onto his fans and is desperate to still be loved by them.... Horrible person.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 A whole ruddy documentary! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTenIsiUgik&feature=g-vrec
accessory Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Plenty of people on here slagging Morrissey off per-se. But few stating whether they agree or disagree with what he said (see OP) What do you expect? This is Foxestalk after all. Personal attacks, rather than discussion of the issue at hand, is pretty much the norm for any thread on here.

Phube Posted 8 August 2012 Posted 8 August 2012 As mush as I also dislike Billy Bragg, he's spot on here!
Leicester_Numan Posted 8 August 2012 Posted 8 August 2012 Not a surprising viewpoint coming from a numan fan....i remember gary numan and billy bragg 'discussing' whether politics should be in music, anyone who thinks it shouldn't is a moron. All well and good if your audience is of our age, we won't be influenced by it but when the likes of Morrisey and Bragg were popular, their audience was kids and teenagers, some of them are going to be vulnerable and impressionable. To kids, they're heroes and they hang on their every word and believe it. Opinion wasn't just being influenced, it was being created. Is that really what you think music should be for? If a musician wants to spout political crap, they should go into politics otherwise it's not much more than an abuse of their position
Bellend Sebastian Posted 8 August 2012 Posted 8 August 2012 Who'd win a fight between Billy and Morrissey ? Morrissey has a significant weight advantage these days. It's all the fried egg sandwiches

If a musician wants to spout political crap, they should go into politics otherwise it's not much more than an abuse of their position Surely music and songs are all about anything and everything. If expressing a political view through music is wrong, then it can't be used to express a view on love, war, joy, fear, your country, your life etc.

Can you look at those comments and think that influencing kids with extreme views is a good thing? If you give them a more balanced view then fine. We're older and can look at rubbish like that and just think shut the hell up you old fart, kids don't think like that do they? Can fans of The Smiths and Bragg honestly say their political views weren't influenced by their lyrics?

You say it like it is brainwashing, people gravitate towards opinions they agree with, if Morrisey says meat is murder and you agree, you are more likely to listen to his point of view on things, if not you won't, even if you like the song. Lyrical content isn't always a pre-requisite for liking a song. Having said that it is important to expose young children to different view points on the world, let them make their own mind up, you cannot protect people from other people's opinions, what we need to do is allow kids to be able to develop by listening to other people's points, evaluating them, empathise with them, and take understanding even if they don't agree with them.
ADK Posted 8 August 2012 Posted 8 August 2012 I always liked Billy Bragg but i don't think it made me more left wing.

And there's the point about balance. If they are constantly exposed to just one view they will inevitably start to agree with it. It is exactly like brainwashing. Why do you think people like him never went into politics? Because no-one would give him the time of day and why do that when you can influence people in other ways, sometimes without them even knowing it. If an audience is generally older people then ok, it doesn't matter that much but if it's generally kids then musicians do have a responsibility to their young fans, whether they like it or not, just as parents and teachers do. Extreme views are ok for us but not for the young and impressionable. As parents, we don't really want kids listening to those kinds of views until they're older, do we? And for a good reason
