purpleronnie Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Hes a right idiot and i'm afraid it makes me want to not listen to the smiths anymore. . why? He's always been opinionated and had the same views for years. Cracks me up how seriously people take this sort of stuff, its funny. Give me morrissey over the 99.9% of current pop 'stars' who have nothing to say, no opinion and tow the corporate line.
Guest Bilo Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Morrissey is actually impossible to take seriously, complete clown these days.
marty78 Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 It seems racism is okay when the racist can play a tune. Good to know.
purpleronnie Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 It seems racism is okay when the racist can play a tune. Good to know. what?
ADK Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 . why? He's always been opinionated and had the same views for years. Cracks me up how seriously people take this sort of stuff, its funny. Give me morrissey over the 99.9% of current pop 'stars' who have nothing to say, no opinion and tow the corporate line. To some it dosn't matter but to others like me it is abit of a turn off. When someone's opinions are clearly just wind ups or total bollocks then they are not really opinions. Its just part of the show. Similar to people like Jeremy Clarkson.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 It seems racism is okay when the racist can play a tune. Good to know. He's a singer, he doesn't play anything
Phube Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Nah.. Possibly one of the greatest lyricists of my generation and the Smiths were simply my favourite ever band. Live, Morrissey was fantastic. See above post by me!
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 He's a singer, he doesn't play anything Johnny Marr possibly one of the greatest guitarists of my generation too.
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 See above post by me! Every day is like Sunday... Every day is silent and grey Could be talking about Hull here...
Parafox Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Plenty of people on here slagging Morrissey off per-se. But few stating whether they agree or disagree with what he said (see OP)
Parafox Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Can't abide the man or his woeful dour songs, but I have to say, on the olympic coverage, he has a point. I did find some of the sycophantic, fawning commentaries a bit too much to bear, particularly from that supercilious nobody that is Claire Balding See post #85
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Plenty of people on here slagging Morrissey off per-se. But few stating whether they agree or disagree with what he said (see OP) Said before mate, I disagree completely with what Mozza said, the miserable twat. The Olympics have been great for Britain and the coverage superb. How could it not be? Led by Leicester's own Gary Spinnaker...
cambridgefox Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Johnny Marr possibly one of the greatest guitarists of my generation too. Agreed.

BoneDog Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 I don't know anything about this Van Morrison bloke but I think his Olympic rant is a bit silly. He mentions "blustering jingoism". It's the fricking Olympics, what do you expect man? British commentators are bound to get a little hyped about Britain and British athletes. If you watch the Olympic shows on Italian or German tv I'm sure that their commentators are doing the same for their countries. I've watched about 30 hours of live footage and I've not noticed any "dazzling roiyals" chatter. I've heard commentators talking about sport and giving respect to and getting hyped about athletes from all across the globe, just as they do at all Olympic games, but I've not heard any royal bumming. That said, I turned off the opening ceremony after 15 minutes or so, so I probably missed it. Morrison - "Meanwhile, the British media present 24-hour coverage of the 'dazzling royals'". Advice - don't read or watch tedious media reports. You'll be happier for it. If you like to stand up against tyranny then prove it and stop waffling about nothingness. Waffle on about something a bit more urgent. Oh yeah, and who the hell is Sir James Horrible?
Bellend Sebastian Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 Oh yeah, and who the hell is Sir James Horrible? I think it's almost certainly Jamie Oliver
Parafox Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 I think it's almost certainly Jamie Oliver Me too, straight away. I've yet to see more than a fleeting glimpse of any royal personage within the coverage TBH
BoneDog Posted 7 August 2012 Posted 7 August 2012 I think it's almost certainly Jamie Oliver Ah, of course! I think I see his point on that score. I've got no problem with Oliver as I know nothing about the bloke, but sir?! I say I know nothing about Oliver - that's not true - I recall him appearing on the pitch at half-time at a Rochdale match and all the fans started singing "You fat bas*%rd, You fat bas*%rd.....". I also know that he uses a wooden chopping board.
