Guest Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19861146 Endemic pervism and sexual assault in the 80's. BBC strife with sexual assault Thatcher's Britain. Take what you want?

Guest Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 Why? You need to direct that question to the halls of the BBC. I haven't and never will.
Guest Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 It's all about POWER and the exertion of power. Most things are.
Nick Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 Oddly enough I know somebody who has a weird crush on her now.
davieG Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 In the not too distant past the establishment, Church, Government, Children's homes, powerful businesses, the arts and the BBC etc. were considered to do no wrong and had immense powers and sexual control over women and children so woe betide anyone that questioned them. Times changed and it would seem the Church and the BBC were the last of this ilk to emerge from their murky pasts hence these revelations of dirty doings in the 80s. I'm not at all surprised.
Guest Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 Agree with your premise DavieG but not sure your list is long enough and think your optimism that it's over is ill-placed. NO man is equal. People exert their power over others in innumerable ways every day and it's more concentrated in "institutions". Very few workplaces do not suffer from this to some degree or other.
Saxondale Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 True story: I genuinely thought for years that Sandi Toksvig was blind because of her squinty eyes.

Well I did put etcetera and no I don't think the actual acts are over just that for those abused it is becoming easier to complain and get support for those complaints. I'm actually quite surprised that the Saville ones and hence the BBC stuff has taken so long to come out especially after all the Church exposes. I was brought up in a C of E children's home in the 50s/60s and I know for a fact some of the kids boys and girls were abused, I don't know how far that went and I was thankfully spared any such molestation and was totally unaware at the time.
Finnegan Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 Would I grope anyone? Answer: No. What? Are you asexual? I frequently grope Ms. Finners, she doesn't consider me a rapist.
AoWW Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 If Mr AoWW didn't grope me I'd start to get a bit paranoid.

My Dad grew up in a childrens home in the 60's, some of the stories he tells me are awful. Having the few nice posessions he had stolen by the staff in front of him, male staff members sleeping with young female residents etc. Just disgusting.

Heard similar stories from people who were children and sent to large homes for their "safety" during the war.
skinnydipper Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 If Mr AoWW didn't grope me I'd start to get a bit paranoid. Is Mr AoWW cool with you being AoWW ? ( I'm presuming he's not AoWM ! )
Zingari Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 i've found out who the culprit is BBC news reporter Gary O'Donaghue
AoWW Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 Is Mr AoWW cool with you being AoWW ? ( I'm presuming he's not AoWM ! ) I don't know, I've never asked him. I probably ought to change my username. (Er, I hope not!)
skinnydipper Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 I don't know, I've never asked him. I probably ought to change my username. (Er, I hope not!) Hope you don't change it to AoOW ( Ormondroyd )
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 Hope you don't change it to AoOW ( Ormondroyd ) Ian?
skinnydipper Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 Ian? Is there any other ? Or perhaps AoTLBW :-)
Parafox Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 It just gets worse. Bizarre. I'm Brian and so is my wife
flowwolf Posted 7 October 2012 Posted 7 October 2012 She gets all sanctimonious and then refuses to name the person she says groped her. So what is her point ? Put up or shut up springs to mind. I presume this happened before she decided to yodel up other womens canyons ?
