Have you ever tried a bike endurance race? I have. Have you tried it then had to do 18 stages in a matter of weeks? Including mountain stages and time trials? Admittedly I haven't, but I can only begin to imagine the pain. Yes he does just ride a bike, but what he has to do to train himself to the peak physical condition in order to meet the demands of that sport, to cycle 2,173 miles from start to finish in a race, is incomprehensibly difficult. I really don't see how you can just simply class this as "riding a bike". On his character, what's wrong with being arrogant and confident in his abilities if he's one of the best in his sport, I think most athletes/footballers act like that to some degree anyway? Footballers even worse so because of the money they get paid and think they are truly "god's gift".

Wiggins persuaded the entire field to stop until those punctures were repaired. He deserves SPOTY for that action alone.
