Wolves Sack Solbakken

Damn. Was hoping he'd stay until we played them.

Same. They were on an awful run, defeat at Luton today was always going to finish him off. Still can't believe we lost there. Should never have sacked McCarthy.

Surprised by how poorly he's done, thought he'd be an unknown quantity and surprise package with Wolves up near the top.

Rubbish manager, Wolves need and deserve better.

What the fudge do you base that on then? He's achieved more than most managers at this level.

His stats are impressive.

But has he reached the fourth round of the Fa Cup?

Why?

He proved himself to be out of his depth with Doncaster last season at this level.

Poor appointment.

Rubbish for them, Wolves are a high quality side, struggling, under performing and going out to Luton hits the nail in the coffin.

They should be top six in the Championship, as their squad like Bolton tbh, on paper are two of the best in the division.

Solbakken's philosophy obviously didn't work with Wolves, but Saunders is quite a disappointing appointment, has done well this season, but Wolves is a big club, with him in charge I don't see much improvement.

So he's a rubbish manager because after half a season, he hasn't got a team in transition to click? Coyle is rubbish too then I suppose?

He is a foreign manager, with different dimensions, and probably has a total different outset to football, that Wolves players aren't used to. His foundations just couldn't click with a talented Wolves side, who should be doing much better with the quality players they have. He might of had success abroad, in his Scandinavian(hope I spelt that right) countries, his first job here and he has failed.

Coyle is a British manager, who has had success with Burnley in the past so we know that he isn't a bad manager, and is more than capable of managing a team in the Championship if the right one came about.

Pardon me, but do you live in the 70s? Football has become so international, no place more than the English leagues. Won't even bother looking how international the Wolves squad is, but my guess is that it's comparable to his squads at Cologne and Copenhagen. That 'argument' just doesn't cut it. Zola is foreign and only in his second job here, and he's not doing too bad. The reason I mention Coyle is because Bolton are only one point better off than Wolves, yet he's been there longer and his squad is at least as strong as Wolves'. If anything, Coyle should be given the boot and Solbakken the benefit of the doubt....

Coyle was given the boot 2 months ago. Bolton got Dougie Freedman from Palace to replace him.

Dougie Freedman is the Bolton manager now as bread&cheese said so I don't see what your getting at.

Zola has more of an understanding with British Football, he played for Chelsea for years, tried his best at West Ham and is a very respectable player/manager. He is a good man, and has better understanding of British Football, which is probably why he has got Watford working. Solbakken is quite the opposite, hasn't had any experience in England, and probably has totally different foundations.

And failed. Quite miserably, actually - despite his 'fantastic knowledge of the British game.' I think Zola's landed on his feet with regards to the owners at Watford being Italian and him being a recognisable footballing name, nothing more, nothing less. His tenure at West ham was beyond disastrous. Spent about £10,000,000 on Savio Naserenko, didn't he? Cracking business.

I think nationality / has sod all to do with capability, when - as Shen has rightly pointed out - the British league system has become so multi-national, particularly the top two tiers. Did Wenger have any English football experience before taking over at Arsenal? Rafa at Liverpool? Mourinho at Chelsea?

I've never seen anyone post so much guff and not actually make a proper point as you in all my life.

Yup, brain fart on my part. Still didn't stop kingfox defending Coyle despite poor results.

I'm sorry, but MTWG couldn't have phrased it better.
