MattGamble92 Posted 23 February 2013 Posted 23 February 2013 Okay we never seem to get the rub of the green. Whether its truly woeful refereeing decisions (more or less every week it seems) or something as simple as losing a game we've dominated. (Again, more or less every few weeks) As much as the form has dipped a little lately. Peterborough game, they were just as shit as us. Yet bang. Out of nowhere a goal. And then again. Literally 2 chances. 2 goals. Huddersfield. Nothing from them second half. Goal. Charlton. Nothing second half. Wonder goal. Combine that with that games at the start of the season like Blackburn away (never seen a more dominant display end in defeat) and you do start to wonder if somebody up there is looking down on us and having a bit of a laugh. We have awful luck most of the time. And it pisses me right off
eye666 Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 You make your own luck ultimately. Long way to go this season, but with 2 games a week for the next month odd, we need to take our chances. Opportunity lost today, but an away point to stop the rot will look better if we string some wins together again. I'd wager nige will get another loan in to push on. A few cup finals to come, and I'm sure the performances will come back. Keep the faith!
Narborough_fox Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 Let me take you back to the Wolves game, 90th minute and Ebanks-Blake hits the outside of the post with a brilliant chance. If that isn't lucky then I don't know what is. You can moan all about the lack of luck that we've had but in the end we've been crap for the last 3 or 4 games and any other game before January we weren't prolific enough, nothing to do with luck.

But they should of been down to 10 men after 20 mins so thats pretty lucky I'd say

You can't make your own luck because luck is an element of chance that is out of your control. You can try and be bold to increase your chances of better luck but we've done that most of this season and it hasn't stopped us from hitting the woodwork 20+ times. We're an unlucky team in general but we haven't been as deserving of the luck recently.
Matt Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 Moral of our story? Make the most of our chances. How many corners do we have on average? (Would actually be interested to see that, we seem to have loads every game) What do we do with our corner opportunities? Absoultely fuck all usually! How many chances do we create? Quite alot on average again I would think, How many of the chances do we convert? I would say less than 70% and thats being genourous tbh, I don't expect us to score from every chance but we seem to create loads of chances but never convert them into goals. The OP has mentioned that we dominate games yet get hit by the opposition scoring with 1 chance, with the chances we make this should not be the case. Like yesterday I read people saying 'we made plenty of chances', 'should have scored' yet conclude by blaming the pitch, if we did make plenty of chances and should have scored why are people still blaming the pitch? If we had the opportunities what does the pitch have to do with anything? We need to have more killer instinct and be more ruthless. As for luck, why don't we change our shirts to the colour red, it's meant to be a lucky colour, Cardiff did it and look at them (I am joking, incase anyone is that gullible)
Guest Col city fan Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 Are you kidding? Please tell me you are.. Wood's misses yesterday werent 'luck' One was a missed penalty, the other was when he screwed himself up into some sort of weird position to shoot miles wide.

If they want to clutch at straws let them if it makes them feel better.... See this is what winds me up, I was already wound up we drew because we had the chances to win, but then you get our fans making excuses for them aswell, whether it be the pitches fault, the referee's fault, or luck's fault... Then the irony about it is if you slag one player off, not even slag them off just state that they have been poor or had a poor run of games you are accused of scapegoating a player!

crisp packet Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 Thin lines .... We are not too far away ? No one has hammered us this season , 2-1 losses etc . I feel it's confidence ? Our being a city can , we never have done things easy ..... Oh and the most fickle fans in the world doesn't help

(Would actually be interested to see that, we seem to have loads every game) What do we do with our corner opportunities? Absoultely fuck all usually! According to the match day programme for Charlton we have taken the greatest number of corners of any team this season. In terms of conversion rates I'm not sure but I'll take a guess and say we must be bottom half in terms of goals from corners. We are woeful from corners and nothing seems to improve when taking them over the course of this season.
jamesmilner Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 You make your own luck . We deserve everything we've got . Missing pens etc ain't bad luck neither .
theessexfox Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 Every team in the league will state they've been unlucky at various points, neglecting the times they've been very lucky indeed.
Fox92 Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 How exactly? Such a stupid phrase (Not an attack on you, just the origin of it). You can't make your own luck because luck is an element of chance that is out of your control. You do make your own luck, I agree. Is luck real though, or is there no such thing? If I put £5 on a single number on a roulette, and it comes out, is that luck? In life you seem to make your own luck. Luck and chance are two different things imo. We say 'good luck', but what does that do? Take our chances, score our penalties? I believe hard work does that. Luck is nothing but a word. It's not physical, you can't do anything with it. Hard work brings 'luck', taking a chance can bring 'luck'.
dedlock Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 Missing a penalty is not bad luck. The penalty taker has to hit the target. Wood has done well since he joined but his miss was poor.
Zingari Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 I think Shanks once said " the harder we work , the more practice we do , the luckier we get" Or summat like that

dannythefox Posted 24 February 2013 Posted 24 February 2013 Not fussed about the peno its down to the player. But when people say it evens its self out over the season it bloody well doesnt with Leicester!
