Haydos Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 i think the simple answer is yes Okay. In public, uni and with multiple groups of friends I have heard zero people make any fuss, show any outrage or any sort of grievance about the matter. For those (wherever they are) that are bothered, may I ask why? Is it similar reasons to the food people, that it is uncontrolled and potentially dangerous? And on that note, have there been any reported cases of people falling in in relation to horse meat? If it's just because you 'don't fancy eating horse meat' then I don't really understand it.
Alf Bentley Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 You worked hard there sir go and have a nap edit; are you trying to get the record for most puns in a post ? What's the prize? 1000 guineas? Sorry, I've been talking fetlocks all day...
Zingari Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Okay. IIf no-one cares , why did supermarkets take it off the shelves ? Could it be public opinion ?
Haydos Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 IIf no-one cares , why did supermarkets take it off the shelves ? Could it be public opinion ? Because it's illegal. And has potential to upset certain people/groups. I'm just surprised it';s getting so much media hype considering how few people seem to care about it.

I'm just surprised it';s getting so much media hype considering how few people seem to care about it. Exactly ? so why did you ask if the public actually cared , that's my point . i'm not saying it's top of everyone's worry agenda , but many people do care . Whether they need to care is a seperate issue. This may be a way of introducing horsemeat into our diet by means of "well we've been eating it for years anyway". But maybe I'm just being my usual superstitious(sic) self

And at least to me I haven't actually experienced any upset about it, yet it continues to be front page news every day. I don't understand why.
lavrentis Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 We should do what a german politician said and give all the horse meat thats been taken out of shops to poor people
Zingari Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 I said it had potential. And at least to me I haven't actually experienced any upset about it, yet it continues to be front page news every day. I don't understand why. Yes I see what you mean . The media does seem to get a bee in it's bonnet about some things and goes on about it way and above what it needs to . But no-one ( or a lot less) was buying the suspect stuff that was on the shelves .
MooseBreath Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 I can't even put into words how little I care about this horse meat non-story. Why are they still milking it? It's not even news any more. I understand that it's worrying for certain food agencies but do any of the public actually care? Milking horses. There was a girl at my school who was into that shit. She got caught with a horse in a field behind a hedge with her skirt lifted up and her mouth all creamy. Not sure if she ever actually suffered penetration or if she just sucked the milk out. But she was only seen in school a couple more times after that.
Captain... Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 I said it had potential. And at least to me I haven't actually experienced any upset about it, yet it continues to be front page news every day. I don't understand why. The worry is the fact that people don't know what is going into their products, and supermarkets are buying products from unreliable sources, I am personally thankful that it is horsemeat that are using and not something much worse, and hopefully it is just a mistake from a processing plant where horsemeat is also processed and was labelled mistakenly as beef, and not that the producers really didn't care which animal ended up going where, or were deliberately using horse meat as it was cheaper, if so you wonder what other cost cutting measures they have taken.

That sums it up pretty well Cap'n . If someone buys a chicken curry in a restaurant and finds out later it was roof rabbit , they'd be a bit upset regardless of whether or not they'd suffered any ill effects. Just tell us what we're eating and where it comes from and let us make the choice if we want it or not.
MC Prussian Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 It's all a labeling scandal, not a meat scandal. Horse meat is a treat. As is deer and boar.
Zingari Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Quick question If cow meat is beef, pig meat is pork , sheep meat is mutton, deer meat is venison etc , does horse meat have a more table friendly name ?
Captain... Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Quick question If cow meat is beef, pig meat is pork , sheep meat is mutton, deer meat is venison etc , does horse meat have a more table friendly name ? Wiki Answers has the ...erm...answer: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_horse_meat_called
Zingari Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Wiki Answers has the ...erm...answer: http://wiki.answers....rse_meat_called Hmm, they need to work on the presentation side of horse meat . How about calling it "chevail" or something ? that would give it a more table friendly appeal .
Captain... Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Hmm, they need to work on the presentation side of horse meat . How about calling it "chevail" or something ? that would give it a more table friendly appeal . Or they could mix it with the meat of a castrated male of the domesticated bovine species and call it EquinOx.
The Doctor Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Hmm, they need to work on the presentation side of horse meat . How about calling it "chevail" or something ? that would give it a more table friendly appeal . It's also known as Horse Beef. So perhaps people should actually read the entirety of the label and not just go "includes word beef, must be cow".
Haydos Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Quick question If cow meat is beef, pig meat is pork , sheep meat is mutton, deer meat is venison etc , does horse meat have a more table friendly name ? Equisine
Alexikokopops Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 My housemate cooked up a massive lasagne on Friday because she's been craving it since the horse meat scandal broke. As a result I've not a bad word to say about the whole thing.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Agree with Finnegan amongst others on the first page, but when you pay for food, however cheaply, you expect to know exactly what it is youre buying. Imagine if a kid had had an allegic reaction to the horse meat (if that's at all possible!)
Mike Oxlong Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Along with Leicester school children the food industry's having a mare.
brockmyster Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Couldnt give a shit, if its that cheap what do you expect
Alf Bentley Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Imagine if a kid had had an allegic reaction to the horse meat At least they've not been grooming the kids. Could be worse....could be fox meat... or ox meat... Along with Leicester school children the food industry's having a mare. ...or badger meat Couldnt give a shit, if its that cheap what do you expect Perhaps we should do a Gallop Poll? I'd have no beef with that... Nay! I'd have no problem with that!
