Alf Bentley Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Can't see this remaining in the news furlong. I don't know, Mike. Sounds like the council are in a stew about it. Can see 1 or 2 roastings being handed out. There's a lot at steak, you know...

I'm not really at the races today, so I think you came up on the rails to beat me by a short head. You win the Gold Cup. I'm off for a trough and a nosebag... Chow!
Guest Bilo Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 I'm going to start watching what I eat before long. I fvcking love Aintree.

Carl the Llama Posted 5 March 2013 Posted 5 March 2013 To all the people saying it isn't a big deal because it's not a health hazard, that isn't really the point. The problem here is mislabelling on an epic (correct use of the word for once) scale.
Alexikokopops Posted 5 March 2013 Posted 5 March 2013 To all the people saying it isn't a big deal because it's not a health hazard, that isn't really the point. The problem here is mislabelling on an epic (correct use of the word for once) scale. I think what people are saying is yes, that is a big deal, but that big deal was about 17 weeks ago and now we're just getting the same story rehashed but in a new location. Horsemeat being found in schools is no more a big deal than it being found in hospitals last week, or in nursing homes the week before, or in Findus lasagne the week before, or in my ass the week before etc.
Zingari Posted 5 March 2013 Posted 5 March 2013 17 weeks is a bit of an exaggeration Popsy , And it's not just about mislabeling, it's about sourcing too . If they are lying about what meat it is and where it comes from , they could quite realistically be lying about whether it is even fit to eat, or even been classed as contaminated . And we need to know that whoever is responsible has got off their fat over paid arses to sort it out . If it's of no interest to anyone we aren't forced to read about it . Any way apart from that , here's some more "mislabeling" http://www.bbc.co.uk...europe-21676069 IKEA selling cake with shit in edit; they've changed the story now from faeces !!
Alexikokopops Posted 5 March 2013 Posted 5 March 2013 17 weeks is a bit of an exaggeration Popsy , hy·per·bo·le [hahy-pur-buh-lee] - noun Rhet. 1. obvious and intentional exaggeration. 2. an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.†The same story has been rehashed so many times that it feels like it's been going on so much long than the actual two or three weeks it actually has!

I was well aware of that but anyone reading this ( doubtful i know ) may not have picked up on such "understated hyperbole" 7 weeks inflated to 17 could easily be taken as the real time scale. I think the coverage of the story has been pretty reasonable really , in fact I think considering how potentially serious this could be , it could be argued they are quite restrained. Ryan Giggs and whoever he was shaggin dragged on for about the same length of time and had far more exposure from what I remember. In fact most "celeb" stories get more airing than this . We ought to be a bit grateful they are at least trying to get to the bottom and discover how widespread a real story is for a change . As I said before , we ain't gotta read about it or listen to it if we don't want.

I thought it had been about 3 I think it's fair that it's getting coverage, I'm just a bit bored of the stories about it being found in new places. Let's just assume it's everywhere and get down to the stories about where it's come from. And don't get me started on the celeb stories...
Zingari Posted 5 March 2013 Posted 5 March 2013 You seem to be a bit more tolerant of me than you used to Popsy. Have I not done something to offend you ? Or have you mellowed and softened in tone to everyone? Or is it just my imagination?

Or have you mellowed and softened in tone to everyone? Or is it just my imagination? I was never intentionally intolerant! Apologies if I ever came across like that, I was probably just having a paddy about something unimportant. Life's to short to be annoyed by the Internet

Zingari Posted 7 March 2013 Posted 7 March 2013 Quick question for the legal eagles. This is often described as a "mislabeling issue" , but when does mislabeling become fraud ? e.g if I sold jewelry saying it was diamond , but was in fact zirconia , is this mislabeling or fraud ? Are they the same thing?

Zingari Posted 7 March 2013 Posted 7 March 2013 Comes down to intention, I suppose. I can't imagine how horsemeat can get in the chain without someone having intent .
MPH Posted 7 March 2013 Posted 7 March 2013 I can't imagine how horsemeat can get in the chain without someone having intent . I think there was definite intent on behalf of the original processors... but this is the problem... when i read the original report of what happened in France, one supplier got the meat from a supplier who got the meat from someone else who then shipped it in from somewhere else. It changed hands at l.east 4 times. But they did trace it to one place in frence where there was proof they found of a shipment leaving a french meat processing plant labelled as horsemeat and then leaving it labelled as Beef.. Spanghero was bought from the family of that name by Basque cooperative Lur Berri in 2009. Former boss Laurent Spanghero has said he will try and find a buyer for the factory. The French government says that its inquiries so far have established that the meat, bought from a Romanian abattoir via a circuitous route, arrived in France labelled horsemeat and left the factory labelled EU origin beef.
Webbo Posted 7 March 2013 Posted 7 March 2013 It was definitely fraud, no doubt about that and it's definitely a news worthy story but does it have to be the headline everytime, aren't there more important things happening?
johnny the fox Posted 7 March 2013 Posted 7 March 2013 Ive just found some horse in my donkey burger, fookin disgraceful..
Zingari Posted 7 March 2013 Posted 7 March 2013 i just wish they'd remember to take those fookin iron shoes off before turning them into burgers . I've hardly got any teeth as it is !!
