Tempwan Yierban Posted 12 April 2013 Author Posted 12 April 2013 Me, my ex birds dad, her uncle and my mate all decided to use the dawson system (double up your stake until you get a winner) on no goalscorer during the 2006 World Cup. We all made a fair amount of money (couple of grand each) it was stressful though and getting the bets on in time etc started to prove difficult when you had £750-1500) going on a result in a bookies. It's easier to do online these days but also you'll get found out by the bookies and possibly restricted bets which would be a sickener if you've lost a few on the spin and are about to pull the trigger. What was even more frustrating about this system we did was we stopped after the group stages and had we carried on and been able to get the bets on we'd have walked away with over £50,000 between us. We decided to stop after the group stages because games had started being played at the same time so we had to double stakes on 2 seperate bets which meant if they lost then our stakes were increasing even more rapidly and we feared we could be out of dough when we'd built up a good pot. Yes. You do have to take care. I like to use it as a way to get a free bet, and I never really back a golfer I completely don't fancy as I just don't want to be stuck with a bet I don't want. I built up a pot big enough to arb and to pick out a few juicy lays for the Masters - but last night in the end I was a bit distracted with other things (wife and son unwell) and mind wasn't really on it, then I got stuck in to the beers and I don't like to bet when under the influence. I made myself about £40 worth of free bets though and I've laid a few golfers who just don't look to have got to grips with it, but I don't really want to say who, which arms me with a pot I plan to invest on betfair tonight. My big disappoint was that I really expected Stricker to go better. I changed strategy on Scott, since he really liked to be playing nicely and have NOT laid him off, after backing him. I may regret that, especially if he loses momentum today, but that was a good solid day from him yesterday. Betting aside, its a great spectacle.

Today will be interesting, Bradley at 66/1 is criminal. He often starts badly and then digs in and grinds away. He'll be down to about 25/1 after today I reckon and then even lower after Saturday. I still think he'll go close and i'm going back in at 66s today with intent to destroy.

ousefox Posted 12 April 2013 Posted 12 April 2013 I'll try to keep this brief to keep you interested, let me know if it makes sense or if you need more detail. Firstly, exchanges are the alternative to traditional betting ie the alternative to going to a bookmaker and sticking £5 to win at fixed odds of say 4/1. In an exchange situation generally you are placing your bet with another normal person like yourself. Someone is willing to lay the bet you want to make. Lets say you really think Leicester will win tomorrow and are happy to take evens - and I am equally convinced Leicester will not win, I will choose to match your bet, or 'lay' your bet. If Leicester win, money is transferred from my account to yours. If Leicester do not want, I keep your stake. What confuses some people is that betfair (and other exchanges) use decimal odds, since they can be more precise whilst remaining 'simple' numbers. To convert (I think in fractional odds), 5.00 is 4/1. 8.00 is 7/1. Just subtract one and it's that number to 1. Exchanges offered the first real opportunity for normal folk like you or I to 'lay' a selection. It was almost the birthplace (alongwith fast internet connections) of 'in play' betting. Does that make sense? Best way i've read it being explained, cheers.

Donut Posted 12 April 2013 Posted 12 April 2013 There is no way to beat bookies, or they wouldnt exist in the first place. Bet small amounts for fun. Lose and you lose. Win its a nice bonus

Win its a nice bonus That's not true. You can beat the bookie, but they don't like it and you get banned or have your stake limited or put on an approved betting system, like telephone betting where you might not get published odds. Bookies rely on the casual gambler who gambles for fun. Nothing wrong in it, but it is very possible to beat the bookie. In fact, if you dutch correctly, you can guarantee to beat the bookie(s).

kylestyle06 Posted 13 April 2013 Posted 13 April 2013 There is only a certain amount of bookies once your card is marked, trust me. So you have a system to 100% beat the bookies. Why are you not rich ?
AS78UK Posted 28 April 2013 Posted 28 April 2013 Found a potential way to get some free bets. On Skybet, they have the free £5 loyalty bet if you place £10 in bets on five different days, this can be utilised upto £20 Ã month. The best part is I don't believe that they need a minimum odds bet either, so you can back teams winning 4-0 already. This coupled with the footy freebets they offer each week should make it a good number of free bets to risk at you leisure. Found a potential way to get some free bets. I've read somewhere that this'll only work for so long until your account gets limited. They send you an email saying something like "Patterns of betting that indicate an attempt to abuse the promotion - or engage in activity that is against the spirit of the promotion - will also result in immediate exclusion from the offer"
AS78UK Posted 30 April 2013 Posted 30 April 2013 Once in a while Bet365 offer a free loosing inplay bet refund, equal to your biggest prematch bet football bet. If your work with someone with a different IP address to yourself, then between the two off you can make a tidy guaranteed profit. I have done this now with a friend for an average profit each of £35. You essentially need to decide the most profitable way to bet your pre-match and inplay bets before hand. But after that your in the money. Will drop a note on here next time it comes up. Bet365 have this offer on again on the Real v Dortmund match tonight. Bet requires 2 people, both need to place £50 on Real before the match, and then as soon as it kicks off, one of you on Dortmund and the other on the draw. Should Guarantee you a return each of between £30 - £50. Only issue is if Dortmund score before you place your inplay bet.
