Passport Help

Morning all.

I’m looking for a bit of help/advice regarding a lost passport and the process of getting a new one.

I’m 19 and haven’t been abroad since 2005 when I was 11, on holiday with my parents. On the 31st of July, I’m going away for a week with a few mates and I’m in the process of applying for a new passport but of course it now needs to be an adult one. My dear Mum has lost my Child Passport, and in the application process it asks for the previous passport number.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem or know of how long this can/will delay the process? Or how to resolve it?

It asks for parental Passport information such as codes, issue dates and dates of marriage, which aren’t an issue. It’s just the original Child Passport number.

Cheers

I'm not sure you can do much if you haven't got that number and so it would have to be treated as a new application which I think takes 6 weeks.

I find its always best to ring them up when something like this happens

Fill a form out for a new one and add a note saying your have lost one. They will then contact you about what to do.

Mine expired last year an so far I'm not sure whether to get a new one. Depends on finances after July.

Best bet is to go to a passport office/ring them up and see what they can do. As its an adult passport they may treat it as a new application

I think you have to ring them as you've left it very late. The passport office used to be in Peterborough I think. You may have to go there in person and do some sitting around in order to get your passport by July.

Get it sorted asap, had a similar issue, some time ago.  Ring the passport agency line and ask there advice, as you may be requested to come for an interview at one of there offices (i was), with birth cert etc.  To get your passport may take upto 4 weeks

Got to go for an interview tomorrow myself cos its my first adult passport. Any idea what sort of things they ask?

I read that it's a 4-week process, so hopefully it'd be OK. I'd assume if prompted, an interview would be in Peterborough though?

To be honest, I've been looking for the old one for a while but have given up on it now, as it is getting very tight time-wise.

I renewed mine this time last year. Took about 6/7 weeks as I remember and thats for a standard 10 year renewal (£77-ish). You can pay extra to fast track it I think. Website says it takes 3 weeks at least but to allow more time april - september.

I renewed mine recently. It was around £77 but I'm sure it didn't take that long. 3 or 4 weeks I reckon.

I've got an interview tomorrow as I said before and it's on Wellington Street. Is it at the job center down there or somewhere else? Looking on Google Maps and I can't find anything on that street that looks remotely like what I'm after.

All sorts of governmental buildings down Wellington St, Council Offices, County Court, Job Centre as you say (which is least likely.)

My mate recently lost his and had to go to Liverpool

F**k me, sent to Liverpool just for losing a passport? Good job it wasnt something more serious like murder, or he could have been sent to Hull!
