Rincewind Posted 12 June 2013 Posted 12 June 2013 This may or not be a funny story. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/cashier-asleep-with-finger-on-keyboard-launched-a-222222222-t

MooseBreath Posted 12 June 2013 Posted 12 June 2013 I don't know what's more farcical, the cashier's error or ken's link posting skills.
Guest MattP Posted 12 June 2013 Posted 12 June 2013 I don't know what's more farcical, the cashier's error or ken's link posting skills. If you were the boss and the agency had sent you these two which one would you take a chance on?
Rincewind Posted 12 June 2013 Author Posted 12 June 2013 It took less time for me to correct my error.
Guest MattP Posted 12 June 2013 Posted 12 June 2013 It took less time for me to correct my error. You've got the job.
Carl the Llama Posted 12 June 2013 Posted 12 June 2013 In Japan, falling asleep at work is a sign of dedication and hard work (as opposed to being hung-over). Sorry Ken, thanks for the application and best of luck in your search. Ps. I've decided to move to Japan.

Where did you get the £62000,000,000 from? Where did you get the E2,000,000,000 from? Come on Jonathon. Are you even reading these articles before posting them?

Rincewind Posted 12 June 2013 Author Posted 12 June 2013 €222m (£190m) I estimated wrong. Sorry I'll go and kill myself now. Does the figure really matter? It was a lot of dosh and he story was he transferred it into a another account. Bankers and businessmen do it all the time. Admittedly it's normally an offshore account but it's a common occurrence in high finance. It's not Illegal. I am sure Moosebreath will confirm it.

Sorry Ken, thanks for the application and best of luck in your search. Ps. I've decided to move to Japan. In Germany, you can work at a bank, fail to spot an inadvertent "£62000,000,000" transfer and keep your job. That's where I'm moving.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 12 June 2013 Posted 12 June 2013 When I was 18 I worked for a bank in the Chargebacks dept in a huge office where our team of about 20 just did data input all day. It was so mind numbingly boring that I lost count of the times people would put eight figure reference numbers in the box where you should have put the actual amount if cash to be transferred.

The evil bankers are constantly making big incorrect transfers, usually to themselves at the expense of everyone else. Happens all the time, and is the only thing which stands between the common man and great wealth. I mean, I've lost count of the number of times I've earned a large sum of money, only to have it stolen from me under the guise of an incorrect bank transfer to an offshore account.
Ric Flair Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 Hopefully the recipient earnt a good amount of interest before he had to pay it back!
glenny_fox Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 It's amusing that the person that completely messed up by falling asleep and transferring millions keeps his job... Yet the woman that didn't spot the error got the sack. Seems fair.
