The month of July was the warmest, sunniest and driest since 2006.

In the past 100 years only five Julys have been warmer and one sunnier.

The good weather was helped by a two-and-a-half-week spell of sunshine and high temperatures.

Despite thundery weather from July 22, it remained warm and humid until July 27.

A temperature of 18.4C in central England was 1.7C above the long-term average since July 2006, according to weather expert Philip Eden.

The highest temperature was 33.5C at Heathrow and Northholt, North West London, noted on July 22.

The lowest minimum was 3C at Tulloch Bridge, in the West Highlands.

The rainfall average was 60mm for England and Wales, 76mm for Scotland and 57mm for Northern Ireland.

There was an average of 291 hours of sunshine for England and Wales, 214 for Scotland and 242 hours for Northern Ireland.

Largest total in the UK was 320 hours at St Helier (Jersey) and the smallest was 96 hours at Lerwick (Shetland).

Today was better.

The last few days have been horrific. It's been hot, very humid but fúcking pouring with rain. How are you meant to cope with that? You'd die wearing anything other than shorts and a t-shirt cos it's so hot. But you get fúcking soaked on the way to wherever you're going. Been a right nightmare. Hot and sunny today mind. Superb golf weather.

I still have my shorts on. Don't mind wearing them. Unless it's icy cold they are bearable and it gets fresh air to the lower half of your body.

Seriously how can people prefer this humid and stormy shit over nice hot crisp sun?

This is bullshit weather, I'm sweaty (More so than when it's nice, sunny and hot - Tbh I don't think I sweat that much in nice sun), I (and others around me) stink (Again, certain I don't when it's nice and sunny and don't notice smelling other people as much), I'm moody, getting angry at the slightest thing, and it's just simply horrible.

Ohh and the 'pressure' in the atmosphere causes me headaches.

Hoping summer has another decent spell left in it. Warmish today but the last couple of weeks has been gloomy autumnal crap and my SAD has been kicking in already, in the middle of phooking summer

Apparently we do have another spell on its way but i'll believe it when I see it.

Today has been awful, really been pissed off with the weather today, it's been disgusting, although as we speak the end of day/early night looks like it might be turning quite pleasant.

As you say the last couple of weeks have been shite and I've written the summer off coming back, but as I said above according the experts we are due another spell, i'll believe it when I see it.

Your SAD may be kicking in during the 'summer' but look on the bright side atleast we've had 2 weeks summer this year, which is arguably more than we've had in the last 5 years put together.
