Do you like the hot weather ?

how very british. the summer arrives and people complain.

i love it. wish it was like this more often.

biggest problem is being in land locked leicester. wish i was by the sea so i could go sit on the beach after work.

i will say however. i do wish you could turn it off at night. reckon i need an aircon unit in the bedroom.

Clearly I'm the only one that works for a company that can afford air conditioning and the only one with a large fan in their bedroom. Love the warm weather certainly better than the alternative and we get very little of it so I'm not going to complain about a few very bearable side affects, will be going for a 3 mile run later!

For those that care this turned into 2 miles before nearly collapsing on the Ashby bypass.

It's nice during the day but horrible come 9pm. Much prefer the winter myself but the weather isn't something that has a bearing on my day as a whole.

It's the people that moan about it being cold, and then moan about it being warm that annoy me.

As a student just finished college it is perfect weather for playing football/tennis in the early evening when its a bit cooler and going out with mates to town, clubbing etc. though i understand that i better enjoy it while it lasts as pretty soon im going to have to get a job!

Loving this dry heat. Cold but bright, sunny weather in winter is good, too.

Not so keen on the humid type of heat we've had in some recent summers...second worst type of weather after grey clouds / drizzle.

Don't mind snow or a good rainstorm.

As I get older, I'm getting more convinced that I'm acquiring "seasonal affective disorder". These days, it really makes a massive difference to my mood whether it is bright or gloomy....better move to southern Spain or somewhere if I make it to retirement age.

It makes you wish you weren't in full time employment, just for a few weeks! It gets to me that all the people on benefits seem to be able to afford to do loads of things during the week when it's sunny as well.

I'm just hot, sweaty and tired... so that's my moan of the day!

I would enjoy it if I was near the sea but I'm not enjoying it.   I like to ride my expensive carbon fibre road bicycle but its just too hot for it at the moment. Might get up at 5am on saturday and go fr a ride when its cooler.

Had a great moment yesterday.  Was in town in 29c heat and then walked into Wilkinson store where it was really refreshingly cool.  They had the aircon on max and it must of been about 12c in store.

Did i hear correctly that 5 days in a row of 30 degrees is considered a heat wave?

Apparently so. From the BBC news website..

"BBC weather forecaster Chris Fawkes said a heatwave, according to the World Meteorological Organization, occurred when temperatures were five or more degrees above average for at least five days.

He said the UK was already in a heatwave and the alert was essentially a health warning, telling healthcare professionals to watch out for vulnerable people."

It's been pissing down the last few summers here in the UK pretty much. Expect hosepipe bans and drought warnings now we've had 2 weeks of sunshine.

This is good weather, very good weather but let me tell you this is not a heatwave.

This is simply good weather, it's what we should expect from summer months, the fact we havn't experienced it for a good 5 years is probably one of the reason's it's such a shock to people and why people aren't ready for it/used to it.

I find it pathetic how people in England panic at the slightest things (Mainly brought on by the media) if it's hot people panic, overhype it, call it a heatwaves, it's too hot, e.t.c, if it rains people panic, floods (After the last few years rightly so, it shows how bad our weather has been on the last few years), if it snows people panic, panic buy, can't get to work, fear the roads, come on, our snow isn't that bad...

As Soccerroo Fox has said 5 days of 30 degrees? A heatwave? Seriously? Don't get me wrong it's just about right, just about perfect, probably wouldn't want it any hotter in truth, it's beautiful but don't pull my pisser claiming it's a heatwaves, it's quite embarrassing.

Talking of pulling my pisser, I heard serious claims and worries about a potential hosepipe ban, seriously? After all the rain we've had?

Anyway, beautiful weather, long may it continue, here's to a decent summer

Yeah, it's almost like the Met Office think that they're weather experts or something....

Wow, some countries must have heatwaves all summer every year then, sometimes even not in the summer months.

Matt's back with his endless moaning.

And matt a heat wave is measured relative to the usual weather in the area.

So yes it is definately a heatwave.

I think it'd only take a bit of common sense to realise that when the British Met Office are referring to a 'heatwave' - it's what constitutes one in Britain. It'd obviously vary for different countries.

When i'm praising the weather?

Great concept of moaning you have there.

You're little spin at the end, can't help yourself, even though what you stated was incorrect..

I think it's something to do with it being 5 degrees above the average temp. for more than a week or something; that's what constitutes a heatwave. Obviously in Spain or somewhere else it wouldn't be. Big fan of this weather though, hope it continues!

EDIT: infact I'm sure I read that from someone in this thread?
