cambridgefox Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 From Cambridge and support Leicester ??? May I ask why? Relative from Leicester ? My reference to the Leeds fans from around the Country tend to be a throwback to when they were nationally a bigger team and got 'glory supporters' following them from other towns (like Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea etc) its very odd. When I was at primary school I had the Panini sticker book and the first shiny sticker I got was Leicester ,I'm now 42 and don't regret it for a minute. Not so much these days(wife and kids) but used to go all over the place and still feel that passion for the club although only about 4 aways per season these days.Sometimes I feel as I live away from the city the passion takes over a bit like someone who emigrates and then becomes more patriotic !
Weller in Tights Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Larry, god luv ya, lighten up. You're going to end up with an aneurism. Leeds fans clearly have the best support in this league (noise wise), I remember years ago we actually rivalled them ( can't remember exactly what year but 4-4-2 magazine did a survey of atmosphere related to crowd size and we came out 2nd in the whole country to Leeds. Oh yeah it was obviously back in Filbert Street days). Leeds are still however the team with the largest number of thugs likely to threaten the average fan who is actually not looking for any aggressive confrontation. Larry it was you in the Leeds end with that flag wasnt it. (Larry that's a wind up, thought I better tell you as you seem to have some difficulty spotting them)

Nice story Cambridge, respect to you for sticking with Leicester. Not trying to wind you up though but what of your local team Cambridge?

Yes I have been loads of times in the past and they will always be the 2nd score I look at,but you never change your team nor have I wanted to.Did mention on here before that I went with a car full of Cambridge fans all those years ago in the famous play off 2 nd leg and we went our separate ways before kick off,it was probably one of the happiest nights of my life as a Leicester fan,and the car journey home was epic!

Fair play. I will admit, when at Portsmouth Poly in the late 70's and early 80's I would go and watch Pompey in the old 3rd and 4th divisions to get my football fix. If City played near Portsmouth (say London) I would hitch up to watch City. Didn't see Pompey as my 2nd team, I just needed to watch Football
southstander Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Larry was that you in the Leeds end with the 'Leicester Leeds' flag? Leeds fans Very loud -true Sang whole game- true Don't need a drum- true (please get rid of our drum) Still have a large minority who are 70's Neanderthals -VERY TRUE. Evidence, the lovely creatures threatening the Family Stand. As I stated before, I am sure there are many decent Leeds fans (not the ones from Leicester, Nottingham and Cambridge who should be supporting their local team, but ones from Leeds) It's just they seem to have the biggest group of thugs still living in the 70's lcfc fans very quiet -true sang for 2 minute spells- true need a drum - yes your only song stolen from palace-true still have a minority who judgeing by the 30 year olds Neanderthals singing we all hate leeds scum to me and my 8 year old at the services bet they felt well hard and yes im a decent leeds fan not from leeds but started supporting them because my dad took me like ive took my son though I didn't see them in the 70s but being a big club that's why we have support from Leicester Nottingham Cambridge Norway Sweden and many other places get over it, pleased with a point though, hopefully we both be up there challengeing at the end of the season good luck
Deucalion Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Part of the reason the West Stand looks empty is because they have moved the Just the Ticket seats into the corner. My ticket has been moved, and though the new seats are not too bad, it's pretty annoying to look across to where my old seat was and see it empty. What was the point of moving people to leave their seats empty???

I sincerely mean this - Apologies if you had city fans aggressive towards you and your son (yes all clubs have Neanderthals) my point though, is that after many years following city all over the country and also attending England games abroad, Leeds do appear (in my humble opinion) to have the largest proportion of Neanderthals. Being well supported is no excuse, as there are teams with bigger support than you ( believe it or not there is) that do not have the numbers prepared to threaten you're average fan.

AntrimLUFC Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Hi from a LUFC fan (who according to some am a scum ) I have no time whatsoever for aggrovation towards or from any football fans. I agree with the like minded FOOTBALL supporters on this forum, as on any other that support for YOUR team should be from the heart, in your blood and fill every waking moment. I applaud that and recognise the depth of support for LCFC as I do for any side. All I ask is do not tar supporters from any opposition team be it Leeds Derby or whoever with the same brush as the "scum" who follow ANY football club. I wish you all the very best for the coming season (unless that means pipping us for the last play off place) but I do think you will be above that. I honestly believe LCFC and LUFC re Premier clubs but we both have to earn that place. PS cambridgefox... I love that avatar
Dan Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Admittedly on $ky, but 22k for your first home game, against Leeds United, with 3k away fans, is appalling. We're going to have our lowest average attendance at this ground in this league I'm afraid. Hope I'm wrong.
MC Prussian Posted 12 August 2013 Posted 12 August 2013 Yes, the Leeds fans were loud. But chanting the same song for 90 minutes doesn't classify as "good support" in my books. It was all mundane - I've heard that program a couple of times now and with time, it gets more and more annoying and repetitious, because there's nothing creative or fresh about it. I'd rather criticise our fans for being rather quiet (again).

What was the point of moving people to leave their seats empty??? And it looks terrible. If you think it's a better view there, I'd just move over just before the start.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 12 August 2013 Posted 12 August 2013 Is it just me or does the "Marching on together" chant just sound like everyone fumbling their way through until the actual "Marching on together" bit? Like when the camera pans out to people trying to work out their national anthem before international games, and there's always a couple of people having a go, that clearly don't know any of it besides one line

Simple as that unfortunately. It's the second year out of 22 that I've not got a ST, the first was last year .... After the first half I wished I'd got one and would have bought one if the season ended there .... but after the end to last season, and the pre season we had i wasn't in the least bit tempted. As soon as i see a game is on sky i just watch at home and afterwards am glad I only invested 90 minutes and no money instead of the 4 hours and £50 quid to go. If I'd watched a thrilling encounter then I'd wish i was there .... happen a few times and all the people like me (a lot i would imagine) would start to come back.
johnny the fox Posted 12 August 2013 Posted 12 August 2013 Susan Whelan needs sacking or sending to Belfast as a crowd dispersal expert.
gazlcfc27 Posted 12 August 2013 Posted 12 August 2013 Personaly I think the reason that the attendaces are going down is quite simple. We Leicester fans are a dying breed. And the reason is simple,SKY TV.I work alot on differant builing sites in leicetser and finding another City fan is hard. Most people under 30 are all talkin about Man U,Liverpool etc and when I mention Leicester they just laugh. And if you ask them why they don't support there team of birth they just stare at you looking bemused. Its becoming a joke and its only gonna get worse.

This is exactly my point though - why does it HAVE to always be about how good the team is? Everyone's got their own reasons for going but we really have no alternative to enjoying ourselves if we don't win now and it's ridiculous. It's no wonder crowds are shit when the prices are a joke, half the games are on TV and a lot of fans only care when we're winning.
Dan Posted 12 August 2013 Posted 12 August 2013 Yep, imagine what we might get for a Midweek night game in January/February I look at Yeovil at home, 25th March. If we've had a tosh season we'll be talking about 17k, and I'm not joking either.

Great point,if were losing we should entertain ourselves and sing. But most just moan and sit there. It was great when we beat Ipswich and Hudds by 6 but I muched preferred both Cardiff and Blackpool away when we only got 1 goal.Funny old game.
Deucalion Posted 12 August 2013 Posted 12 August 2013 Leeds fans do very well with songs which only contain one syllable.
Burmesefox Posted 12 August 2013 Posted 12 August 2013 Two questions: 1. Is it true that the season ticket holders are counted in the attendance even if they are not present? Ie. 11000 sth so they start at 11000? 2. Anyone else see that topless tattooed lad in the away end standing on the steps and goading L1 all match and arguing with the officials? What what that all about and should he not have been chucked out for inciting violence? Surely as you are not allowed to stand on teh steps they could have just got rid.

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 12 August 2013 Posted 12 August 2013 On an aside I actually thought 22000 plus wasn't too bad considering the early start to the season (people on jollies etc) and on sky etc etc would of been at least 3000 more normally for this game
