Sunday League Thread 13/14.

Fairfield who I was playing for last season have folded.

Apparently they only had 4 players turn up again today, 2nd week running, so manager decided to call it a day.

A shame really as on there day with a full squad they could beat anyone. They got rid of a few people in the summer and replaced them with better players (apparently) unfortunately these "better" players didn't fancy playing on a wet Sunday morning.

We drew 1-1 against a team called Enness United who are tipped to win our league. We absolutely destroyed them as well. Just not taking any chances! Their keeper should've been sent off but apparently if you purposely save the ball outside the box it's only a yellow!

If he's denying a goalscoring opportunity it's a red, if he isn't it's a yellow

Our lad had a shot and he saves it. Goalie was last man!

Definite red then pal, the ref needs to have a look at the rules lol

Red card offense-

A deliberate handling offense to deny an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by any player other than a goalkeeper in his own penalty area

Cost us the win easily. I asked him at the end of the game why it was only a yellow, told me I wasn't allowed to ask him and to piss off!! lol

Haha, knew he'd got it wrong then! I've put the actual rule on my previous post so it was definitely a red

How come you left them?

We won 7-1 yesterday against Kilby Town and we remain top with 3 wins out of 3.

Works got really busy so we are expected to work a couple of Sunday's a month now. I was planning on playing for them again when work died down but unfortunately they've folded before I had the chance.

I lack sympathy then. Anyone who "get's rid of players" Sunday League needs to have a word with themselves. And you can bring a load of mercenaries into your club and they'll probably win you a trophy but the minute the chips are down they'll do one, got to keep your core or you will fold.

As Archer said 0-0, little disappointing but it's enough to take us top

Totally agree mate. The lad who was the assistant manager left in the summer as he told the manager that he shouldn't bring all the players he was in for the exact same reasons as you mentioned.

The standard of referees is really dropping. You wouldn't mind as much if they explained why they've made a decision. Hate the fact some refs demand to be shown respect, when they tell players to shut up and piss off

On the other hand some refs are brilliant, ask in the correct way why they've made a decision and you get a response. You might not agree with it but you have to respect for it

Won 7-3 yesterday. Had an absolute shocker but it's better to make mistakes when you're winning comfortably than in a tight game. Top of the league, and still unbeaten so it's been a good start.

Who was the ref?

Charlie Bateman.

Won 8-0 yesterday.

We've been drawn against AC Wigston in the county cup. Just a division above us in the alliance.

Beat Whitwick Compass 5-4 Sunday morning, we were 4-2 down with about 25 minutes to go. Great game, a draw was probably the fair result but we'll happily take the win.

Horrendous morning Sunday, got the wrong away ground, two no shows, bare 11 including manager who got injured after 25 minutes. No Ref, lost 2-1 after being 1 nil up. Both stupid goals as well one I have no idea how he managed but this lad scored an 18 yard header after it bounced up in front of him and the 2nd we all stopped as one of their players went down like a sack of spuds after the ball hit him and their manager played on.

Snarestone Globe in the county cup which we will lose heavily unless we get our act together and get some of our better players back from injury, work, holiday and worst of all just generally not being arsed/getting drunk/not being able to get out of bed in the morning. Good time to be playing us at the minute :-/

Anyone play for a club who actually trains around midweek (stupid question maybe , but ive played for a few who dont) that i could join just to train and get my fitness back up to scratch and loose some timber? Had a couple of years off due to illness and would love to get my life back on track now i have the all clear as such. Cheers! SF

The old lad? We had him a few in the last couple of seasons, a top gentleman of the pitch though.

Won 1-0 on Sunday and nice to keep a solid first clean sheet of the season. 4 wins out of 4. Ressies won 16-0 lol Remarkably, the team they played had already been beaten 11-1 and 12-0 already this season and still turned up with a 17 man squad!

Won 4-0 last Sunday, four wins out of four. Great start to the season, hope the form continues.

No game for us this week in the County Cup, all CSL Premier League teams received byes.

Also thoughts go out to Bardon Hill and Whitwick Compass striker David Leigh, who unfortunately broke his leg last night in a tackle with the Barrow Town goalkeeper.

Lost 3-0 to Snarestone Globe, they do have some team now, unfortunately we were short and didn't take our chances

Manny, you playing for Forest Road this season??

Beat Ashby Rovers 5-2, they only had 10 men and we only had 11 and they were leading 2-0 at HT, massive credit to them. Most teams would have just called it off.

Done the ligaments and tissue in my ankle, fuming. Originally thought it was broken when I went hospital.
