The Year Of The Fox Posted 11 September 2013 Posted 11 September 2013 That's just ridiculous deleting that thread. Any reason to be given?
Jimothy Posted 11 September 2013 Posted 11 September 2013 I totally agree, it's ridiculous deleting it. Maybe some of the more derogatory comments could have been removed or edited by a mod, but the thread as a whole was a good idea, and meant, as you said, in a genuine helpful way, not a pisstake.
Soar Fox Posted 11 September 2013 Posted 11 September 2013 I thought that as well. To me it seemed a good helpful thread and I didn't see any comments which would have been deleted. People were genuinely being helpful.
Lamby Posted 11 September 2013 Posted 11 September 2013 The ****wits who weren't being helpful. So I got it deleted, I've had a look at the links and that and will be applying soon.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 11 September 2013 Author Posted 11 September 2013 The ****wits who weren't being helpful. So I got it deleted, I've had a look at the links and that and will be applying soon.I nearly clicked 'marked solved' That'll never happen with you job hunting. There was one post by Kingfox that was retarded. No others were abusive. How will you get to the job links that were posted now that the thread no longer exists?
Guest Bilo Posted 11 September 2013 Posted 11 September 2013 No need to delete it. That was FoxesTalk at its genuine best; caring, decent and helpful behaviour from people who will rib each other mercilessly on a daily basis, but are actually good people on the whole. I'm not one to criticise the mods because it's a thankless task undertaken by volunteers, but I do think this was an error of judgement.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 11 September 2013 Author Posted 11 September 2013 It was an error of judgement, particularly when there is so much utter shit posted on here daily or every thread eventually going off topic that doesn't get picked up by the mods. I knew it was Lamby reporting it after running out of excuses
Mark_w Posted 11 September 2013 Posted 11 September 2013 The ****wits who weren't being helpful. So I got it deleted, I've had a look at the links and that and will be applying soon. And I'm sure there would have been a lot more links for you to look at if you'd just ignored one or two posts that weren't particularly helpful, it's really not that difficult to do.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 11 September 2013 Author Posted 11 September 2013 Webbos here now I expect this to be deleted too
Webbo Posted 11 September 2013 Posted 11 September 2013 Just put yourselves in his shoes for a minute. How would you like it if a load of strangers on the internet were telling you how to live your life, telling you what jobs to apply for, calling you useless? He's as capable as you are at googling agencies, whether he does or not is his business.

He's as capable as you are at googling agencies, whether he does or not is his business. I'd be humiliated that a bunch of strangers over 100 miles away have been sble to find x amount of potential jobs. All plausible ones at that. I'd be thinking, 'fcuk me' I need to sort myself out.It is somewhat our business when its all you hear off him on here all day. If you want to stop people being antagonised then ban him from the forum.
Soar Fox Posted 11 September 2013 Posted 11 September 2013 Just put yourselves in his shoes for a minute. How would you like it if a load of strangers on the internet were telling you how to live your life, telling you what jobs to apply for, calling you useless? He's as capable as you are at googling agencies, whether he does or not is his business. He went in a thread and said "is life worth living" and that he couldn't get a job. People then posted a few links to show life is worth living and that there is jobs out there.
Guest Bilo Posted 11 September 2013 Posted 11 September 2013 He's 23 Webbo, he's still a kid really. I was wide eyed and clueless when I was that age, and I'm only 29 now. I hadn't been abroad without my parents for more than a school trip or weekend in Amsterdam, had never lived away from home and was still filling in application forms for university. I wouldn't have known what to do, where to look and how to react if long term unemployed. Most of my real life-affirming experiences as an adult have been in the last five years. Similarly; Lamby doesn't know everything about life, he clearly hasn't acquired skills to look for work or he would have done so already and there are older and wiser people on here who could guide him. People who probably have been long term unemployed and got themselves out of it. People who have volunteered and acquired experience that's helped their career. People who have gone to uni as a mature student and built their career that way? How do we know that he knows where to look for jobs? How do we know that he's aware that volunteering is a good way of building up your CV? Careers advice in schools is patchy, job centres are even worse and we don't know what kinds of people Lamby can talk to. Sometimes it's useful to turn to people you don't know rather than admit to close friends or relatives you haven't a clue where to turn. What is a forum if not used for sharing experiences and opinions?

Finnegan Posted 11 September 2013 Posted 11 September 2013 I'm sorry but, even though I contributed and even though I wish Mark would just ban Lamby for good, it's pretty obvious to see why it was deleted. I hate the phrase "internet bullying" especially when applied to a twenty something guy, not a child, but when you make a thread solely dedicated to one person and that one person wants it removed then what are the mods meant to do? Join in laughing in his face?
AKCJ Posted 11 September 2013 Posted 11 September 2013 It's everyone's personal goal to obtain a job. It's condensing for random people to criticise you for not having one. Everyone tries, most fail. /thread
Mark_w Posted 11 September 2013 Posted 11 September 2013 It's everyone's personal goal to obtain a job. It's condensing for random people to criticise you for not having one. Everyone tries, most fail. /thread No I'm pretty sure most people succeed.
MooseBreath Posted 11 September 2013 Posted 11 September 2013 ...and will be applying soon. Says it all really. Another lie, another excuse. If he is for real, which I'm 50/50 on at the moment, then he has no intention of seriously looking for a job. I agree with the thread being deleted, but only because it was sad to see good people wasting precious moments of their lives trying to help someone who neither wants nor deserves their help.
Mike Oxlong Posted 11 September 2013 Posted 11 September 2013 "Hello, is that the Samaritans ?" "Yes. How can we help?" " I'm standing on a train track and the train will be here soon. Life's not worth living. I don't have a job or a girlfriend and no one likes me. It isn't worth carrying on anymore. "Please, don't do anything stupid Sir. Your luck has changed. One of our most experienced advisors has just come free. I'm passing you to Mr Moosebreath ......
Adster Posted 11 September 2013 Posted 11 September 2013 It's everyone's personal goal to obtain a job. It's condensing for random people to criticise you for not having one. Everyone tries, most fail. /thread . Most, do definitely not fail.
Kitchandro Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 I can see that some people might have posted on that thread to be helpful but it clearly had a tinge of piss taking in it. I'm not talking about individual comments but just the whole thread itself.
kylestyle06 Posted 12 September 2013 Posted 12 September 2013 If Lamby was banned from the internet altogether he might help himself find a job. Unfortunately looking on foxestalk 24 hours per day will not find him employment - obviously isn't trying hard enough
Lamby Posted 16 September 2013 Posted 16 September 2013 If Lamby was banned from the internet altogether he might help himself find a job. Unfortunately looking on foxestalk 24 hours per day will not find him employment - obviously isn't trying hard enough Well you're wrong!
BoneDog Posted 16 September 2013 Posted 16 September 2013 Did you take a snap box or go out for your lunchbreak?
Lamby Posted 16 September 2013 Posted 16 September 2013 Did you take a snap box or go out for your lunchbreak? Took sammiches and ate them in the kitchen area Could take the bus one stop and go to Tesco but that's just effort with having to be let in and out the building
