MooseBreath Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 What a charming attitude, and just how wrong can someone be? I'm sorry I didn't realise there was a requirement to be "charming" when discussing where my hard earned tax money goes. I thought it was more about fairness. Is this a new thing by Labour? Not only must we fund the extravagant lifestyles of the handout class we must also charm them? Maybe invite them in for tea when we've just got back from a 12 hour shift while they've been sitting around in wetherspoons all day getting boozed up with their free JSA handout.
Zingari Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Moosey and Rincewind living together would make a great plot for a sitcom in the mould of Steptoe and Son, George and Mildred or the Odd Couple
MooseBreath Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Moosey and Rincewind living together would make a great plot for a sitcom in the mould of Steptoe and Son, George and Mildred or the Odd Couple I think we'd get on just fine. I could teach him how to turn the tv on. He could teach ne how to write world class poetry. I'd show him how to find a job. He'd show me the best boozers for a liquid brunch on a Tuesday morning.
Nick Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 I lived with a few people I didn't get on with very well when I was living in shared housing. Just made me more motivated to get on and start earning enough of my own money so that I could get my own place. I don't think the possibility that you may end up sharing with people you aren't best friends with is anywhere near a good enough reason for these people to continue to live in relative luxury at the expense of the hard working tax payer, many of whom are themselves having to share houses. *Closes eyes and tries to think of a Moosebreath image of 'these people'*

Webbo could be the busy body next door neighbour constantly complaining about the noise , AoWW could be the seductive love interest creating a rivalry and Finners could play the vicar who often visits for tea. I'll play the frustrated officer at the job seeker centre i think we're onto a winner here

As long as Lord Mayor Ultra is banned from that pub.

We definitely need a cameo role for Ultra , no farce would be complete without a trouser dropper . i think he could play a council official who's come to check out how many bedrooms were in the house.
Guest MattP Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 at the sitcom idea. I'd watch that. Moose has already covered it with Hackneyfox but in case people haven't noticed the country is struggling badly financially and unfortunately common sense might just have to be prioritised over being nice to people. Of course some cases won't look fair but its completely unacceptable to have a situation where low paid people in rented flats are having to pay more tax to pay for a jobless person to live in a four bedroom house, it's so absurd I don't even know where to begin. Again for the tenth time can we stop referring to this as a tax, its a reduction in benefits. How insulting to the working class to describe these people being subject to a 'tax' when the reality is they are just getting a bit less free money from their fellow man. I guarantee half the people slagging this off would be calling it common sense had it been any other party who had proposed it.
pSinatra Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 It's usually the place of Rince to remind people that the majority of people receiving benefits are actually in work........just that they are on shit money. They are already struggling to meet rising costs & IDS is a cvnt.

Arguing semantics, and suggesting it is just political posturing, no answer to the fact that there aren't any houses to move these people into, come on Matt your normally better than that. If there were houses for people to move into, then fine, move or pay for the privilege, but there aren't, it is not going to solve any social housing problem as nobody can move to free up these spare rooms, it is just a money grabbing exercise targeting the poor. I would not support this regardless of who proposed it and I put it to you that you are only trying to justify it because it is a Tory policy. Common sense is addressing the issue and finding an efficient way to house more people, common sense not taking money out of the hands of the poorest, whilst not actually freeing up any space for people who need social housing.

absolutelegend Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 there should be more incentive for people living in public funded housing to move in with friends and family. not every person / family needs or should have the automatic right to their own place. imagine that would be massivly open to abuse though. this probably already exists, I don't know enough about it though to be honest.
pSinatra Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Yeah but we could just put that on his T shirt in this sit com. Only the real fanboys will pause it to actually read it though Will he have room for a quote? What with his DNO, BHF & Wetherspoons sponsorship deals.
Parafox Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 What a load of shit. People with more rooms than they need should downsize to free up larger properties for those who need them. "Rachel Reeves claims the welfare change hits 660,000 housing benefit claimants with an average loss in payments of £720 per year." Awaits someone telling me they all need a spare room for their wheelchair or carer. Move where? In Manchester for example, a recent BBC or Ch4 investigation found that there are (I can't give exact figures right now) in the region of 17,000 single people in 2 bed accomodation or couples in 2 bed only requiring single bedrooms. There are only 4,000 single bedroom flats available. Where are the remaining 13,000 meant to go? Again I haven't got access to the actual figures right now but I'm sure they can be found.
Parafox Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Not really losing money though are they. Just being given slightly less. Maybe these people can go out and wash a few cars in their street to earn the £18 a week they are "losing". Maybe they can fill out a few surveys. Let's not forget the other end of the stick either, all these layabouts milling around in large houses makes it much more expensive for hard working young families like a lot of us on here to get on the housing ladder. If there's a shortage of smaller properties then get these people sharing the larger ones. So, if your income drops then you aren't losing money? This post just shows what an out of touch, ridiculous, arrogant knob you really are. Idiot.
Strokes Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 My neighbors, who i mentioned earlier may be subject to this 'tax' (sorry matt), but there house has just had external wall insulation, a new boiler, new double glazing and a nice shiny new front door. I would guess they arent in much deficit whilst they watch television all day in their nice toasty enviroment. I had a quote the other month for a new combi boiler and it was £1299 to replace the system, maybe next year.

But that is sound economically, we are subsidising their bills as well as their housing, double glazing, insulation a decent boiler and a front door that doesn't let the cold in will pay for itself over time, especially with energy prices on the up. All houses should be as energy efficient as possible. If it is council owned then it makes sense, if they have a private landlord then they are very lucky as they won't always see the benefit of making the house more energy efficient.

Common sense is addressing the issue and finding an efficient way to house more people, common sense not taking money out of the hands of the poorest, whilst not actually freeing up any space for people who need social housing. Well some have moved so it is working, those that have moved will have saved us money, it's not ust about housing, as absolute legend says this should be a kick up the arse for people to move in with family and friends if they can, we have spare rooms that need to be filled before we can start using spare houses. What's the point of more Social housing anyway while we are in the EU and will come under their freedom of movement policy? Completely pointless while we are going to be opening up borders to countries with a average wage in a month less than ours is in a week, you'd just be encouraging more mass unskilled migration. It would be a smart to make sure you have control over the number of people you allow to live in the country before you start building houses for those people. Otherwise everything you are doing will be a guess and probably not enough while you are writing blank cheques. So, if your income drops then you aren't losing money? This post just shows what an out of touch, ridiculous, arrogant knob you really are. Idiot. You have got to stop this, 3 or 4 times now you have came into a political argument and started name calling because you disagree with someone. Do people on benefits actually regard what they given as "income"? Jesus, they should be doing walks of shame before collecting it and be booed and hissed by taxpayers.
Parafox Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 You have got to stop this, 3 or 4 times now you have came into a political argument and started name calling because you disagree with someone. Thanks for your unsolicited advice. I suggest you offer the same to Mr Breath.

MooseBreath Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 So parafox can give me whatever unprovoked insult he likes in several threads and I have my polite, sensible reply deleted? Great use of forum rules, mods. Actually fvck all this. Pointless posting here anymore.
