sylofox Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Could we still get next years world cup? How many countries could take it at short notice? Todays daily star report page 17 2 Killed in stadium collapse. 68k stadium at sao paulo under construction. A crane collapses dropping a huge piece of roofing 2 workers killed. Will Brazil really be ready to put The Greatest Show on Earth on. Unrest in the country about the spending on stadia now one thats not half finished has a tragic accident. How long can the farce that is FIFA be left unchallenged. The greatest show on earth run by the biggest joke on earth.
Guest MattP Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 No chance. If by some disaster Brazil can't get ready America is the contingency plan.

Freeman's Wharfer Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 There are only 3 or 4 out of the 12 stadiums that aren't ready. They wouldn't change the host country of a World Cup based on that alone, the existing venues would just host more matches or existing stadiums in Brazil could be used, even if they are not all shiny and new as planned. Edit: just read it's 6/12 but I'm sure at least a couple of these must be close to completion. Think Sao Paulo and Manaus are the ones causing concern atm.
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 No chance. If by some disaster Brazil can't get ready America is the contingency plan. Why? They had it only 20 years ago while we had it 48 years ago.
Hollism Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Why? They had it only 20 years ago while we had it 48 years ago. you have to be joking?
Corky Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Why? They had it only 20 years ago while we had it 48 years ago. Didn't we win it that year?
Finnegan Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 Why? They had it only 20 years ago while we had it 48 years ago. Do you actually have Asperger's?

They had it only 20 years ago while we had it 48 years ago. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/6606725.stm They were widely known as the back up for 2010 and I'm pretty sure that won't change. It's the obvious choice to be fair, biggest amount of wide ranging 5* stadiums in the World, best security services to do it at short notice, transport access and hotels are always avaliable. Plus it would enable them to keep in the Americas for 2014 as is part of their rotation system. Do you actually have Asperger's?
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 If USA get to host the World Cup again before we do... We should be top of list if the World Cup is to return to a former host.
MooseBreath Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 You're always going to get people dying on construction sites. Happens all the time in the UK and we have some of the strictest h&s regulations in the world. Doesn't mean they won't be ready. Brazil will definitely be ready.
Kitchandro Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 We always get this before the world cup. There's always some concerns and reasons why it's going to be taken away from the hosts. But that never pans out.
notnow john Posted 28 November 2013 Posted 28 November 2013 The contingency plan is delay it until the winter, surely.
MC Prussian Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Another worker's died - this time at the Amazon stadium in Manaus: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-25383023
Charnwood Norris Posted 16 December 2013 Posted 16 December 2013 Its like those construction workers are dropping like flies. Is that 14 dead now total?
