Lionheart Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 Our support was the worst I've seen down there this season f***ing woeful,27,000 outsung by 5,000 and Jobber and those in L were quiet as f**k!
StanSP Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 Pointless game sandwiched between two of the most important games of our season. And yes this is not hindsight I've been saying it all along, **** the cup. A full house show up for a throw away game but when we needed the fans on Saturday there were 10,000 empty seats, and it was a fans fixture. I wish I understood it all I really do. I'm sure the fixture generator knew Burnley would be near the top and I'm sure they envisaged us getting this far with the prospect of playing at least 1 of the biggest sides in the country in the quarter finals.
Bayfox Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 Don't doubt it I struggled to hear l and k tonight, but barring a few lads at the top of the kop nobody attempted to sing really, it nearly got going when we got into the game. Like I say the atmosphere all over was poor tonight, but just expected a little more from the kop granted the kop was poor. Theres about 20 or 30 trying every week. but if you could take a message back to l that they sound shit, have 2 songs and always rely on the drum hopefully they can up there vocal support as well and those in sk1 trying will continue trying.

Chicken and egg though isnt it? Do the fans generate on field commitment and excitement or does that generate passion and singing in the stands? I had the feeling that tonights crowd were itching to make lots of noise. You could feel it.. They yearned excitement.... and were not fulfilled.
Monsell1976 Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 To say the atmos was 'poor' tonight is a slight under exaggeration. There were over 31 k in that stadium tonight, all hoping for a close game and some excitement. After their second goal, it sounded like 10k. Nostalgic I may be, but I pine for those cup nights at Filbo. Totally totally different to what we had tonight. Have to agree col, wished we could have stayed there, the ground might have been a bit tired, but had character, and made for a great atmosphere, just the east stand and family stand that just weren't big enough.

Can't argue with you mate, that drum gets on my tits, and it does need mixing up, that we love you song is shit, and maybe we need to get the old school songs back, instead of copying other clubs or trying to make up new ones. This season the numbers who sing in there are dropping, don't know why but seems a lot content to stand and not make to much noise. You never know, one day we might get us all singing in unison
Soar Fox Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 It summed up the atmosphere for me tonight when the girl behind me asked her dad how long do football matches last for. The little brat kept on chucking her sweet wrappers at my head aswell.
svensson Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 Boo hooo, blame the season ticket holders they brought all their mates.....

You never know, one day we might get us all singing in unison I hated the love you to start. But i think it has a place. It gets the whole ground involved is good for the kids but it gets trotted out too often. why when so many on here seem to want an atmosphere can we not seem to produce.
nickm Posted 17 December 2013 Posted 17 December 2013 I dont get that either, Man city are hardly a glamour tie, had it been chelsea or man utd etc ok but man city? Yeh nothing glamorous about man city, they only beat spurs 6-0 and arsenal 6-3, shit team man city!

I really can't answer that, the only thing I can thing of is, the ones who want to create an atmosphere on here are in the minority in the ground. As I said I have always defended our support, but will say the atmosphere is in the decline this season, with songs struggling to get a whole hearted airing, and long periods of quiet, just hoping it picks up.
Dan Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 It was crap. Poor performance and a dreadful atmosphere. Our home support really is firmly on its arse.
Johnny Cash Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 I'm fed up of being dictated too what chant we must sing next because of the drum.
deanolegend1989 Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 Manchester City are a sh*t club, just got rich owners so I can understand why he said its not a glamour tie. If their owners bought us the we'd win the league..
Dan Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 I hardly heard the drum all game. We've become reliant on something that's hardly ever used. I know I sound like a broken record but I'm not at all arsed. Tonight was truly pathetic in the stands. Makes me laugh how you get people say "why don't you sing instead of moaning about it" - do you not think we try? 99% aren't at all arsed in any form of atmosphere contribution what so ever. Oh and "Man City aren't a glamour tie" is quite possibly the worst excuse I've ever heard
Lionator Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 Get rid of the tinpot drum!!!! Not a dig, but what is the official definition of 'tinpot' and where did originate from? Ps, the atmosphere was s***.
Kitchandro Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 Firstly, shut up. Secondly, it's the quarter final of a cup against one of the best sides in the country you absolute weapon. Thirdly, 'sideshow'? What the fvck else did you have on, a night watching the soaps? Knitting club? Waiting for work tomorrow? Sorry you were distracted by your team for an evening. I'm sure the players were gutted to be playing one of the best sides in the country in front of a full house too. How on earth will they recover in 3 and a half days? Fourthly, we were getting hammered and playing shite, what do people expect the atmosphere to be like? I've heard much worse. I will say one thing, the drum was getting on my nerves tonight. Some of the things he was banging for were just stupid. A throw in. A corner to Man City. I mean wtf? A corner to Man City warrants a drum roll?

Yeah, I hate the idea of trying to win trophies too. Cvnt. Atmosphere wise there were a good group of 30/40 old and young blokes in SK1 trying to give it our best along with the usual group further to our right. Ended up a decent laugh in the end. Just a shame no-one else in the ground could be fvcked. Had a mate in L1 and he said it offered nothing tonight, which is strange because you usually do hear it once or twice from the other end.

Someone suggested our group moving to L1 earlier which probably isn't a bad shout. We've got one lad with us who starts off nearly everything I do wonder if anything would improve from it. Not trying to blow my own trumpet, mind.

I would agree with you if we had shown any intent in the game whatsoever. But we didn't, the game panned out along the lines of 'we won't get stuck in and give you any stick' and 'you take it easy and don't humiliate us'. Looked to have been all decided in advance..... :xmassad: Didn't go so no comment on the atmosphere and gave up watching when the 2nd goal went in. Just wasn't a contest really.

Genuinely think you should, I honestly think it would improve the atmosphere.
Dan Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 Genuinely think you should, I honestly think it would improve the atmosphere. Yeh. Not trying to blow our trumpet but we generally do go at it for most of the 90 every game. I don't think I heard L1 other than the first five minutes last night. Beginning to wonder if it's acoustics or if it is just quiet. I was at the back of sk1 for the first time, It was quite refreshing to be surrounded by people that wanted to sing, Yeh it wasn't too bad up there and there was more than normal up there standing/singing, a bit like Forest. Amazed how poor the rest of the ground, namely the Kop was.
joeasis Posted 18 December 2013 Posted 18 December 2013 Personally I think if you can only improve and learn from playing against a team like Man City best mid week training session you can have. totally agree with this.
