Dating websites

Match.com always looks the best to me.

Apart from paying the £30 for a month part. It's not worth the money tbh.

I've always been sceptical about these sites but my sister met someone through E harmony and they're living together now so maybe they're not such a bad idea.

I always wonder whether going out with someone through online dating could be successful. Would you really have the natural chemistry that you notice through meeting someone organically? Sure you could meet a nice person that you have stuff in common with, although if algorithms have matched you with someone, would you be too similar to fall for them?

Guess Tinder's a bit different to the conventional sites, seeing as it is based on your social network.

I met my wife through Meetic. I was primarily looking to chat to ladies to improve my Spanish (I chatted to Spanish & French), but low and behold, we hit it off and 11 years later and two kids, we're still going strong.

Not sure if it's still any good as site or service, but it worked for me then, and inevitably if you do pay for subscription, I don't remember it being a ripoff. I'm sure there are plenty of UK peeps in there nowadays as dating online is less frowned upon.

Have never really had a problem finding a lass the conventional way, so have never even looked at these sites. Surely if your single you just get down the pub and feast on all the scrump.

Why obsess about a relationship, enjoy the freedom while you have it, and get chatting to all that totty.

I'm not against people using dating websites but I do wonder why anyone between the age of 18-30 would use one. Surely at that age you'd be going out and meeting people on nights out, down the pub at the gym or just through friends.

Nothing against it personally and if I'm still single in 5 years i'll probably be signing up myself lol. A lad I work with he uses POF and he's always telling me about girls he's met up with and had one night flings with.

Was on the free site OKCupid for about a year, skimmed the profiles maybe once a month, seeing the same old faces usually.

Then just over a year ago someone really stood out on there.  Not the girl with the highest compatibility %, or one of the ones the site recommended for me, but someone who's personality really projected into her profile and who I really wanted to meet.

So I contacted her.

We're getting married in June.

So they work, but you need to be discerning and not place all your hopes on it.

You've done alright out of it though haven't you Lamby? You've had a couple of dates at Burger King and only last week you were telling us how you've met a mediterranean beauty.

Looking for a relationship YOTF not a one night stand ;)

After a few years of being in the trades (construction not sex) I've had the benefit of frequently reading The Sun and in particularly Dear Deidre. I just know she'd say you should get yourself into some clubs and activities to meet new people!
